Lesson 1 Equipment: Pencil or pen, Paper and worksheets Instructions: This week we will continue to develop your literacy skills through different tasks and activities related to the story of ‘Three Little Pigs’. However, let’s start with the story again. Activity 1 You might want to start the lesson by re-reading either version of the three little pigs, or have an adult read you the story again. You can choose from the traditional version or the version by Roald Dahl, or you could read both! Activity 2 Read the story of the three little pigs from the worksheet. There are some words that are missing. See if you can find the right word and add it to the story. You can do this on the worksheet or have an adult read the story for you and you can then say which word you would use to fill in the gap. Activity 3 It is time to use your own imagination. Think of different words to add into the story? See if you can make the story more interesting. Activity 4 What happened next to the big bad wolf? Use your imagination and write about what happened to the wolf after he ran away? Did he learn not to be so mean and nasty and start to help people? Did he go on doing the wrong things and being unkind?

• It made me sad that I could not go outside

• It made me happy to play on my iPad

• I felt hot when it was sunny If you are struggling to think of some feelings try to make a sentence using one of the words above. Activity 3 Now have a look at the worksheet. There are four scenes from ‘The three little pigs. Try to write a sentence about what each character is thinking. Try to include at least one feeling in your work. Lesson 3 - Houses for sale!

Equipment: Internet access if possible Pencil or pen Coloured pens or pencils Paper and worksheets Instructions: In this lesson we are going to focus on nouns. Nouns are words which name something such as a person, place, thing, idea, action or quality (e.g. house, mother, father, child, and table). Activity 1 The three little pigs built their own houses. Most people today buy or rent their house. Look at the example on the worksheet or find a house on the internet that is for sale that you like. You can do this by looking at: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale Once you decide what house read the information. Talk to an adult about why you like the house. It might be that you like lots of bedrooms or the garden is big so you can play lots of games. It could be made of brick or have a straw. Make a list of things you like or try to answer the questions if you are using the example. Activity 2 Can you highlight as many nouns in the information you have read? Don’t worry if you don’t spot them all just try to find as many as you can. If you get stuck why not ask someone to help you! Activity 3 If you were building your own house what would you want it to look like? How many bedrooms? Would it have a large garden to play in? Can you draw your house and then label all of the parts using nouns? (Nouns are naming words. They include roof, window, walls – if you get stuck there is a list of nouns for you to use). Activity 4 Now that you have drawn your house can you write 4 sentences to describe your ideal house – try to use as many nouns as possible? (e.g. The house wall is built of bricks)
