Leisure Travel Services (LTS) and Outdoor Recreation (ODR) provide many opportunities to the community to discover the wonders of living in Europe. All ID card holders can travel with us as well as their guests who are registered on the access roster of both Rose Barracks and Main Post at least 72 hours prior to the trip.

As the majority of our trips include a walking city tour for a time varying from 1.5 to 2.5 hours, it is advised to wear comfortable shoes. Please ask for details before booking the trip. Please let us know in advance if a member of your party has special needs. MWR staff members will be glad to assist in any way possible to make your experience wonderful and as smooth as possible. The ODR Staff will be happy to answer your questions about trips and provide you with a detailed itinerary.

Please Note that Leisure Travel Services trip assistants are required to ask for your passport before boarding the bus, as per European law, he or she has to keep a list in case of police check.

. Keep some cash with you at all times as ATM machines are not available everywhere in Europe.

Overnight Trip Refund Policy. A $100 deposit per person is required upon enrollment. . 30 days prior to departure: at least 25% of the trip cost is required, not refundable due to hotel booking policies. . 14 days prior to departure: at least 50% of the trip cost is required, not refundable due to hotel booking policies. . The outstanding balance must be paid two working days prior to the trip’s departure unless otherwise indicated.

. Cancellation up to 31 days prior to departure: full refund, unless otherwise indicated. . Cancellation from 30 days to departure date: the amount refunded depends on the specific hotel’s cancellation policy. The administration fee of $100 deposit per person will not be refunded, unless the cancellation reason is sustained by document signed by commander, or by a physician. . Please bring your original receipt when asking for refunds. . No Refund for No Shows!. If Leisure Travel Services – Outdoor Recreation staff cancel a trip, all customers will receive full refund, providing their original registration receipt.

Please understand that most overnights have to be confirmed with our partners at least a month prior to departure for contracting purposes, so book as soon as possible so we meet our minimum quotas to confirm a trip.

Private TripsOutdoor Recreation can also organize private trips for you. If you need transportation for a unit function, or your reserve unit has a day of free time coming up, we can help you chose your destination, and give you free price quotes. We need some details such as date, destination, number approximate number of passengers, departure time, and return time.

Dresden Christmas MarketSaturday, Nov. 27 Dresden’s Christmas Market is traditionally called Striezelmarkt; it is Germany’s oldest Christmas Market with a very long history dating back to 1434. Its name derives from Hefestriezel, a sweet delicacy which centuries later known as “Dresden Christstollen” (German Christmas Cake). The Christmas Market is known for its Christmas pyramids, smoking figures and candleholders from Erzgebirge Mountains, indigo-dyed printed textile products and pottery from Lusatia, gingerbread from Pulsnitz, filigree lace products from Plauen. Banz Abbey (Kloster Banz) and Vierzehnheiligen BasilicaSaturday Feb. 12The Banz Abbey, is a former Benedictine monastery. Coburg Castle and guided tour of the medieval townSaturday, Feb 26 One of Germany’s largest

castles, the mighty Veste Coburg citadel, dominates the town from its hilltop. During the Diet of Augsburg in 1530 reformer Martin Luther spent 6 months at the castle. While stationed at the castle Luther continued with his translation of the Bible into German. Today the Veste Coburg is home to three museums. One is the Ducal Palace (Fürstenbau), with many furnished rooms of the Dukes of Coburg, including the apartment where Martin Luther lived in 1530. Another museum is the Armory (Rüstkammer), containing the largest collection of medieval armor and weaponry in Germany, with over 10,500 items. The third is the Art Collections (Kunstsammlungen), which contains a world class collection of 300,000 engravings (Kupferstichkabinett), a 20,000 piece coin collection (Münzkabinett), a 7000 piece documentation collection (Briefe & Urkunden), and a 3,500 piece glassware collection (Glasammlung). Circus Krone, MunichSunday, Feb. 27Circus Krone is the largest circus in Europe and the only circus with its own personal building. It employs 400 persons, cares for 250 animals, owns the world’s largest tent with a capacity of 5,000 people and has its own fire truck, school and kitchen staff. Dinkelsbuehl Saturday, March 12Dinkelsbühl’s perfectly preserved town walls and magnificent patrician houses, which include the “Hezelhof” and the “Deutsches Haus,” are a reminder of Dinkelsbühl’s glorious era in the 15th and 16th centuries. Dinkelsbühl’s industrious craftsmen and flourishing trading activities enhanced its wealth, with the town’s fortifications and 16 towers providing protection from attack. Munich’s Alte Pinakothek and Neue PinakothekSunday, March 13The Alte Pinakothek (Old Pinakothek) is an art museum situated in the Kunstareal in Munich. It is one of the oldest galleries in the world and houses one of the most famous collections of Old Masters’ paintings. The Neue Pinakothek (New Pinakothek) is an art museum in the same building complex. Easter Market in NurembergSaturday, March 19Each year at Easter time, the large Easter Market is held on

the Main Market Square. This “Häferlesmarkt” (Pot Market) is the first major market in spring and in Nuremberg boasts a long tradition. Allen Tigges is our driver extraordinaire, born in Iowa. Under a laid-back appearance with the long-hair we all know him for be-ing so proud of, stands a man who has given 25 years of his life to the government service--6 of which as a soldier for the US Army. Melvin Williams a native of New York City, is a man of many talents.
