Jan Peeters focuses on change and leadership coaching. He uses Lego Serious Play as a method to facilitate change and out-of-the-box thinking.

With this workshop, the Lego Serious Play method demonstrates its versatility and its qualitative results.

All attendees to the workshop need an in-depth knowledge of the BMC from A. Osterwalder. Every attendee needs to understand the exact meaning of the nine different building blocks.

Lego Serious Play stimulates participants to use the 3-D capacity of the brain through the ‘hand knowledge’ (“The human hand, in manipulation of objects, is the hand in search of a brain. The brain is in search of a hand, and play is the medium by which those two are linked in the best way.” Dr. Stuart Brown)

In several rounds the people around the table build with their ideas the nine blocks of the BMC. The story telling supports their thinking and stimulates cross-fertilization.

CHAPTER 3: Stress-TestOptimizing BMC

All the attendees around the BMC come up with several potential threats (risks, disruptions) to the current business model on the table. They each determine if a certain risk is indeed a true threat to the model. They then investigate the likely impact of this threat to their model. They adapt the model to reduce or eliminate the threat. These simulations test the model and its assumptions. The model is clearly improved and the people around the table close ranks around a more refined and simple model.
