DO NOT PROCEED WITH THE INSTALLATION OF THIS PRODUCT UNTIL YOU (LATERDEFINED AS LICENSEE) HAVE READ THIS AGREEMENT AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY AND BECOME A PARTY TO THIS AGREEMENT. BYPROCEEDING WITH THE INSTALLATION OF THIS PRODUCT (OR AUTHORIZING ANY OTHER PERSON TO DO SO), YOU AND YOUR COMPANYACCEPT THIS AGREEMENT AND YOU REPRESENT THAT YOU ARE AUTHORIZED TO DO SO. 1. DEFINITIONS

1.1 Authorization Code: means the code provided to Licensee by Legato forpermanent authorization to use the Software. The Authorization Code isprovided to Licensee once the Enabler Code is registered with Legato.

1.2 Documentation: means any user reference materials on any media,provided by Legato for use with the Software.

1.3 Enabler Code: means the code provided by Legato for activation of theSoftware.

1.4 Licensee: means the person or entity acquiring this License or for whomthis License was acquired.

1.5 Software: means the object code copy of the software program providedto You in association with this Agreement, together with the associatedoriginal electronic media and all accompanying manuals and otherdocumentation, and together with all enhancements, upgrades, andextensions thereto that may be provided by Legato to You from time to time.

2. OWNERSHIP AND ADMINISTRATION OF SOFTWARE

2.1 Ownership and Title. As between the parties, Legato, and its licensors,own and shall retain all right, title, and interest in and to: (i) the Softwareincluding all intellectual property rights embodied therein; (ii) all of theservice marks, trademarks, trade names, or any other designations associatedwith the Software; and (iii) all copyrights, patent rights, trade secret rights,and other proprietary rights relating to the Software.

2.2 Software Activation. Legato employs Enabler Codes and AuthorizationCodes that enable the use of the Software. The Software is shipped in a"Media Kit" which consists of object code software on CD-ROM and anEnabler Code for initial activation of the Software or the Software andEnabler Code may be delivered electronically. Once Legato receivesconfirmation from Licensee that the Enabler Code is installed and is providedwith the host ID information, Legato will provide the Authorization Code toLicensee. Legato administers the generation and distribution of Enabler andAuthorization Codes, which administration may be modified by Legato fromtime to time.

2.3 Administration of Software. Legato may include on the media with theSoftware additional computer programs which are not currently licensed foruse by Licensee and to which the Enabler Code or Authorization code will notpermit access. Inclusion of such additional computer programs in no wayimplies a license from Legato and access or use of such programs is strictlyprohibited unless Licensee procures the right to use any such program andthe applicable Enabler Code is provided thereto.

3. LICENSE GRANT

3.1 Grant. Legato grants to Licensee a nonexclusive, nontransferable,nonsublicensable, perpetual, unless terminated in accordance with theprovisions of this Agreement, license (the “License”) to (i) use the Softwareinstalled in accordance with the Documentation and only on the licensedcomputer solely for its own internal operations; and (ii) move the Softwaretemporarily in case of computer system malfunction. The License grantedunder this Agreement does not constitute a sale of the Software or anyportion or copy of it. Licensee may not use the Software on more than onecomputer system unless otherwise specifically authorized by an explicitSoftware product, or additional licenses for additional computers arepurchased. Rights not expressly granted are reserved by Legato. Where theSoftware is provided to Licensee at no charge for evaluation purposes only,the License granted is limited to a continuous thirty (30) day period,commencing with the acceptance of this Agreement (the "EvaluationPeriod"). At the conclusion of the Evaluation Period, Licensee agrees todestroy the Software and certify its destruction to Legato, in writing, withinten (10) days, or shall return the Software to Legato or purchase a perpetuallicense.

3.2 Copies. Licensee may make copies of the Software provided that any suchcopy is: (i) created as an essential step in utilization of the Software on thelicensed computer and is used in no other manner; or (ii) used for archivalpurposes to back up the licensed computers. All trademark and copyrightnotices must be reproduced and included on such copies. Licensee may notmake any other copies of the Software.

3.3 Restrictions on use. Licensee shall not, and shall not aid, abet, or permitany third party to: (i) decompile, disassemble, or otherwise reverse engineeror attempt to reconstruct or discover any source code or underlying ideas oralgorithms of the Software by any means whatsoever; (ii) remove anyidentification, copyright, or other notices from the Software; (iii) provide,lease, lend, use for timesharing or service bureau purposes; (iv) create aderivative work of any part of the Software; or (v) develop methods to enableunauthorized parties to use the Software. If EC law is applicable, therestrictions in Section 3.3 (i) are limited so that they prohibit such activity onlyto the maximum extent such activity may be prohibited without violating theEC Directive on the legal protection of computer programs. Notwithstandingthe foregoing, prior to decompiling, disassembling, or otherwise reverseengineering any of the Software, Licensee shall request Legato in writing, toprovide Licensee with such information or assistance and Licensee shallrefrain from decompiling, disassembling, or otherwise reverse engineeringany of the Software unless Legato cannot or has not complied with suchrequest in a commercially reasonable amount of time.

3.4 Purchase Orders. Nothing contained in any purchase order,acknowledgment, or invoice shall in any way modify the terms or add anyadditional terms or conditions to this Agreement.

3.5 Updates. This section applies if the Software acquired is an update to theoriginal Software (the “Update”). An Update does not constitute a legallylicensed copy of the Software unless purchased as an Update to a previousversion of the same Software. The Update may only be used in accordancewith the provisions of this Agreement. The Update, together with the originalSoftware, constitutes one (1) legally licensed copy of the Software.

3.6 Evaluation License. This Section applies if the Software is being used foran initial thirty (30) day evaluation period. The license is valid only for aperiod of thirty (30) days from the delivery of the Software, and is designedto allow Licensee the right to evaluate the Software during such period. In theevent that Licensee desires to enter into a longer-term license agreement withLegato, Licensee shall obtain an appropriate Enabler and Authorization Codein accordance with Section 2.2 above, upon payment of applicable fees, whichauthorizes use of the Software after such evaluation period, but only subjectto all of the terms and conditions of this Agreement. In the event Licenseedetermines not to enter into a licensing transaction with Legato at the end ofsuch thirty (30) day evaluation period, then Licensee’s rights under thisAgreement shall terminate automatically and Licensee shall promptly returnto Legato or destroy all copies of the Software and so certify to Legato.

4. MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT

4.1 Legato has no obligation to provide support, maintenance, upgrades,modifications, or new releases under this Agreement. Legato may providesuch services under separate agreement.

5. LIMITED WARRANTY

5.1 Media and Documentation. Legato warrants that if the media ordocumentation are damaged or physically defective at the time of delivery ofthe first copy of the Software to Licensee and if defective or damaged productis returned to Legato (postage prepaid) within thirty (30) days thereafter, thenLegato will provide Licensee with replacements at no cost.

5.2 Limited Software Warranty. Subject to the conditions and limitations ofliability stated herein, Legato warrants for a period of thirty (30) days fromthe delivery of the first copy of the Software to Licensee that the Software, asdelivered, will materially conform to Legato’s then current publishedDocumentation for the Software. This warranty covers only problems

reported to Legato during the warranty period. For customers outside of theUnited States, this Limited Software Warranty shall be construed to limit thewarranty to the minimum warranty required by law.

5.3 Remedies. The remedies available to Licensee hereunder for any suchSoftware which does not perform as set out herein shall be either repair orreplacement, or, if such remedy is not practicable in Legato’s opinion, refundof the license fees paid by Licensee upon a return of all copies of the Softwareto Legato. In the event of a refund this Agreement shall terminateimmediately without notice

6. TERM AND TERMINATION

6.1 Term. The term of this Agreement is perpetual unless terminated inaccordance with its provisions.

6.2 Termination. Legato may terminate this Agreement, without notice, uponLicensee’s breach of any of the provisions hereof.

6.3 Effect of Termination. Upon termination of this Agreement, Licenseeagrees to cease all use of the Software and to return to Legato or destroy theSoftware and all Documentation and related materials in Licensee’spossession, and so certify to Legato. Except for the License granted hereinand as expressly provided herein, the terms of this Agreement shall survivetermination.

7. DISCLAIMER AND LIMITATIONS

7.1 Warranty Disclaimer. EXCEPT FOR THE LIMITED WARRANTYPROVIDED IN SECTION 5 ABOVE, LEGATO AND ITS LICENSORS MAKENO WARRANTIES WITH RESPECT TO ANY SOFTWARE ANDDISCLAIMS ALL STATUTORY OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDINGWITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY,FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR ARISING FROM A COURSEOF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE AND ANY WARRANTIES OFNONINFRINGEMENT. ALL SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” ANDLEGATO DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL MEET ANYREQUIREMENTS OR THAT THE OPERATION OF SOFTWARE WILL BEUNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR FREE. ANY LIABILITY OF LEGATO WITHRESPECT TO THE SOFTWARE OR THE PERFORMANCE THEREOFUNDER ANY WARRANTY, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHERTHEORY WILL BE LIMITED EXCLUSIVELY TO THE REMEDIESSPECIFIED IN SECTION 5.3 ABOVE. Some jurisdictions do not allow theexclusion of implied warranties or limitations on how long an impliedwarranty may last, so the above limitations may not be applicable.

8. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

8.1 Limitation of Liability. EXCEPT FOR BODILY INJURY, LEGATO (ANDITS LICENSORS) WILL NOT BE LIABLE OR RESPONSIBLE WITHRESPECT TO THE SUBJECT MATTER OF THIS AGREEMENT UNDERANY CONTRACT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHER LEGALOR EQUITABLE THEORY FOR: (I) ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL,INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, HOWEVER CAUSEDAND WHETHER OR NOT ADVISED IN ADVANCE OF THE POSSIBILITYOF SUCH DAMAGES; OR (II) DAMAGES FOR LOST PROFITS OR LOSTDATA; OR (III) COST OF PROCUREMENT OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS,TECHNOLOGY, SERVICES, OR RIGHTS; OR FOR AMOUNTS IN EXCESSOF THOSE RECEIVED BY LEGATO FOR THE PARTICULAR LEGATOSOFTWARE THAT CAUSED THE LIABILITY. Because some jurisdictions donot allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages,Legato's liability in such jurisdictions shall be limited to the extent permittedby law.

9. MISCELLANEOUS

9.1 Governing Law. This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of theState of California, as applied to agreements entered into and to be performedentirely within California between California residents, without regard to the

principles of conflict of laws or the United Nations Convention on Contractsfor the International Sale of Goods.

9.2 Government Restricted Rights. This provision applies to Softwareacquired directly or indirectly by or on behalf of any government. TheSoftware is a commercial software product, licensed on the open market atmarket prices, and was developed entirely at private expense and without theuse of any government funds. All Software and accompanyingDocumentation provided in connection with this Agreement are“commercial items,” “commercial computer software,” and/or “commercialcomputer software documentation.” Any use, modification, reproduction,release, performance, display, or disclosure of the Software by anygovernment shall be governed solely by the terms of this Agreement andshall be prohibited except to the extent expressly permitted by the terms ofthis Agreement, and no license to the Software is granted to any governmentrequiring different terms. Licensee shall ensure that each copy used orpossessed by or for any government is labeled to reflect the foregoing.

9.3 Export and Import Controls. Regardless of any disclosure made byLicensee to Legato of an ultimate destination of the Products, Licensee willnot directly or indirectly export or transfer any portion of the Software, or anysystem containing a portion of the Software, to anyone outside the UnitedStates (including further export if Licensee took delivery outside the U.S.)without first complying with any export or import controls that may beimposed on the Software by the U.S. Government or any country ororganization of nations within whose jurisdiction Licensee operates or doesbusiness. Licensee shall at all times strictly comply with all such laws,regulations, and orders, and agrees to commit no act which, directly orindirectly, would violate any such law, regulation or order.

9.4 Assignment. This Agreement may not be assigned or transferred byLicensee without the prior written consent of Legato, which shall not beunreasonably withheld. Legato may assign or otherwise transfer any or all ofits rights and obligations under this Agreement upon notice to Licensee.

9.5 Sole Remedy and Allocation of Risk. Licensee's sole and exclusiveremedies are set forth in this Agreement. This Agreement defines a mutuallyagreed-upon allocation of risk, and the License price reflects such allocationof risk.

9.6 Equitable Relief. The parties agree that a breach of this Agreementadversely affecting Legato’s intellectual property rights in the Software maycause irreparable injury to Legato for which monetary damages may not bean adequate remedy and Legato shall be entitled to equitable relief inaddition to any remedies it may have hereunder or at law.

9.7 No Waiver. Failure by either party to enforce any provision of thisAgreement will not be deemed a waiver of future enforcement of that or anyother provision, nor will any single or partial exercise of any right or powerhereunder preclude further exercise of any other right hereunder.

9.8 Severability. If for any reason a court of competent jurisdiction finds anyprovision of this Agreement, or portion thereof, to be unenforceable, thatprovision of the Agreement will be enforced to the maximum extentpermissible so as to effect the intent of the parties, and the remainder of thisAgreement will continue in full force and effect.

10. ENTIRE AGREEMENT

10.1 This Agreement sets forth the entire understanding and agreementbetween the parties and may be amended only in a writing signed byauthorized representatives of both parties. No vendor, distributor, dealer,retailer, sales person, or other person is authorized by Legato to modify thisAgreement or to make any warranty, representation, or promise which isdifferent than, or in addition to, the warranties, representations, or promisesmade in this Agreement. No preprinted purchase order terms shall in anyway modify, replace, or supersede the terms of this Agreement.

Installation ConsiderationsThe NetWorker Module for Oracle software works with Oracle RMAN andNetWorker software to provide regular (non-proxy) backup and restore services forOracle data. The software also supports proxy backups and restores of Oracle data withthe following requirements:

• The proxy backups create snapshots of Oracle data that reside on primary storagedevices supported by the NetWorker PowerSnap™ Modules that work with theNetWorker Module for Oracle.For a complete list of supported NetWorker PowerSnap Modules, refer to thecurrent Legato Software Compatibility Guide on the Legato web site.

• The proxy operations use the particular NetWorker PowerSnap Module softwaredesigned for the primary storage.

Note: Proxy Oracle backups and restores are not supported on an OPS or RAC system.

For both regular and proxy Oracle operations, the following software must be installedon the Oracle Server host:

• NetWorker Module for Oracle software• NetWorker client software in those cases where the NetWorker server resides on

a different (remote) host

Important: Before installing the NetWorker Module for Oracle software in aproduction environment, perform the following tasks:• Install, configure, and operate the software in a test database environment.• Perform an offline backup of any production database.

After the NetWorker Module for Oracle installation, if the NetWorker software on theOracle Server host is upgraded and the NetWorker client installation directory ischanged to a different location, the NetWorker Module for Oracle software must beuninstalled and reinstalled by using the instructions in this Installation Guide.

For proxy Oracle operations, the NetWorker PowerSnap Module that was designed forthe primary storage system is also required and must be installed on both of thefollowing:

• Oracle Server host• A separate proxy client host or NetWorker storage node, as required

Upgrading from NetWorker BusinesSuite Module for OracleRelease 2.x

The supported UNIX operating systems support the coexistence of NetWorker Modulefor Oracle release 4.1 and NetWorker BusinesSuite Module for Oracle release 2.x.However, coexistence of these modules on the same Windows platform is notsupported.

Each of the modules support different Oracle Server releases:

• NetWorker BusinesSuite Module for Oracle supports Oracle Server release 7.x.• NetWorker Module for Oracle supports specific Oracle Server releases 8.x and

9.x.

Note: After upgrading to NetWorker Module for Oracle release 4.1, backupsperformed with NetWorker BusinesSuite Module for Oracle release 2.x cannot berestored.

To upgrade from NetWorker BusinesSuite Module for Oracle release 2.x:

1. Verify that no Oracle database backups with NetWorker BusinesSuite Module forOracle are running on the Oracle Server host.

2. Uninstall NetWorker BusinesSuite Module for Oracle release 2.x by using theinstructions in the Legato NetWorker BusinesSuite Module for Oracle Installation Guidefor that software release.

3. Install and enable NetWorker Module for Oracle release 4.1 on the Oracle Serverhost by using the instructions in "Chapter 3: Preparing to Install" on page 20.

4. Perform a full database backup by using the NetWorker Module for Oraclesoftware.

Upgrading from NetWorker Module for Oracle Release 3.x or 4.0The release 4.1 module software cannot coexist on the same system with either of thefollowing earlier NetWorker Module for Oracle releases:

• Release 3.x• Release 4.0

To upgrade from NetWorker Module for Oracle release 3.x or 4.0:

1. Verify that no Oracle database backups with NetWorker Module for Oracle arerunning on the Oracle Server host.

2. Uninstall NetWorker Module for Oracle release 3.x or 4.0 by using the instructionsin the Legato NetWorker Module for Oracle Installation Guide for that software release.


Upgrading from Legato Storage Manager or Legato SingleServer Version Release 6.1

The Legato Storage Manager or Legato Single Server Version release 6.1 software canbe upgraded to the latest release of the NetWorker server and NetWorker Module forOracle. This upgrade can be performed with or without retention of the existing LegatoStorage Manager or Legato Single Server Version backups.

To upgrade from Legato Storage Manager or Legato Single Server Version release 6.1,see the appropriate section:

How to Upgrade without Keeping the Backups

To upgrade from Legato Storage Manager or Legato Single Server Version release 6.1without keeping the backups, perform the following:

1. Perform a full uninstall of the software.

• Uninstall the Legato Storage Manager software by using the instructions inthe Oracle Installation Guide.

• Uninstall the Legato Single Server Version software by using the instructionsin the Legato Single Server Version Installation Guide.

Notes:

• On UNIX, ensure that the /nsr directory is removed.• On Windows, select the Complete Removal option during the uninstall.

2. Perform one of the following:

• Use a NetWorker server already installed and enabled on a host other thanthe Oracle Server.

• Install and enable the NetWorker server software on either the Oracle Serverhost or a different remote host by referring to the instructions in the LegatoNetWorker Installation Guide.

3. If the NetWorker server is installed on a host other than the Oracle Server, installand enable the NetWorker client software on the Oracle Server host. Refer to theclient installation procedures in the Legato NetWorker Installation Guide.


How to Upgrade while Keeping the Backups

To upgrade from Legato Storage Manager or Legato Single Server Version release 6.1while keeping the backups, perform the following:

1. On the Oracle Server host, back up the required directory:

• On UNIX, back up the /nsr directory.• On Windows, back up the <NetWorker_install_path> directory.

Note: For more information on the <NetWorker_install_path> directory, see"Software Installation Path on Windows" on page 38.

The index and configuration files in this directory can be restored later from thebackup if problems occur during the upgrade.

2. Perform a partial uninstall of the software.

• Uninstall the Legato Storage Manager software by using the instructions inthe Oracle Installation Guide.

• Uninstall the Legato Single Server Version software by using the instructionsin the Legato Single Server Version Installation Guide.

Notes:

• On UNIX, do not remove the /nsr directory.• On Windows, select the Partial Removal option during the uninstall.

• Use a NetWorker server already installed and enabled on a host other thanthe Oracle Server.

• Install and enable the NetWorker server software:a. Install the NetWorker server software on either the Oracle Server host or

a different remote host.For instructions, refer to the Legato NetWorker Installation Guide.

b. Enable the NetWorker server:– If the NetWorker server is installed on a host other than the Oracle

Server, enable the NetWorker server by using the instructions in theLegato NetWorker Installation Guide.

– If the NetWorker server is installed on the Oracle Server host, verifythat the NetWorker services are running. Then install the base enablercode provided with the NetWorker server software by logging in aseither root (UNIX) or administrator (Windows), and entering thefollowing command:nsrcap -u enabler_code

Register the NetWorker server software by using the instructions inthe Legato NetWorker Installation Guide.

4. Complete the upgrade of the indexes and configurations for the NetWorker server:

• If the NetWorker server is installed on the Oracle Server host, the LegatoStorage Manager or Legato Single Server Version indexes might also need tobe upgraded by using the oldindexasm or nsrindexasm command. Theappropriate command depends on the releases of the Legato StorageManager or Legato Single Server Version and NetWorker software involved.For more information, refer to the following:– Legato NetWorker Administrator’s Guide

– UNIX man pages• If the NetWorker server is installed on a host other than the Oracle Server:

a. Move all the media used for the Legato Storage Manager or Legato SingleServer Version backups to the devices connected to the NetWorker serverhost.

b. In the NetWorker server, configure the same resources (devices, pools,and so on) as used previously in Legato Storage Manager or LegatoSingle Server Version.The resources can be configured manually in the NetWorkerAdministrator program. The configurations might also need to berestored from a previous Legato Storage Manager or Legato Single ServerVersion backup by using the mmrecov or scanner command.For more information, refer to the Legato NetWorker Administrator’s Guideor Legato NetWorker Disaster Recovery Guide.

c. Migrate the Legato Storage Manager or Legato Single Server Versionindexes to the new host.Depending on the operating system versions of the Oracle Server andNetWorker server hosts, and the releases of the Legato Storage Manager

d. Install and enable the NetWorker client software on the Oracle Serverhost by referring to the client installation procedures in the LegatoNetWorker Installation Guide.



Chapter 3: Preparing to Install

This chapter provides a roadmap for installing the NetWorker Module for Oraclerelease 4.1 software on a supported operating system that does not have a previousrelease of the software installed.

Important: If the NetWorker Module for Oracle software is downloaded from theLegato web site, an enabler code is not included. The software downloaded from theweb site can only be evaluated. For more information on enabling NetWorker Modulefor Oracle, see "Chapter 6: Evaluating and Licensing Procedures" on page 44.

For information on how to upgrade from a previous release of NetWorker Module forOracle, see "Chapter 2: Upgrade Procedures" on page 15.

Installation RoadmapThis section provides the roadmap for installing NetWorker Module for Oracle. Readthrough this roadmap and the referenced sections before installing the software.

To install the NetWorker Module for Oracle software:

• A cluster system must be running cluster software that supports clusteredOracle, OPS, or RAC.

NetWorker PowerSnap Module. For more information, refer to the appropriateNetWorker PowerSnap Module Installation and Administrator’s Guide.

Supported Operating Systems

Prior to installing the NetWorker Module for Oracle software, one of the followingsupported operating systems must be installed:

• AIX• HP-UX• HP Tru64 UNIX• Linux• Solaris (SPARC)• Microsoft Windows

Notes:

• On AIX 5.1, the IBM patch IY36925 must be installed.• The 32-bit and 64-bit versions of NetWorker Module for Oracle release 4.1 can

coexist on the same 64-bit AIX, HP-UX (PA-RISC), or Solaris system.• On Linux with Oracle 8.1.6.1, the Oracle patch bug995765 must be installed. To

determine if the Linux system has the correct patch, run a test backup to a channelallocated as type disk. If the backup fails, contact Oracle for the Linux systempatch. The patch is available at ftp://oracle-ftp.oracle.com.

Oracle Server Requirements

Ensure that the following requirements are met on the Oracle Server host:

• A supported operating system is installed, as described in "Supported OperatingSystems" on page 21.

• A supported Oracle Server release is installed:– For UNIX, the supported Oracle Server releases are listed in Table 5, "Linking

Commands for Oracle Library File Installation on UNIX," on page 34.– For Windows, the supported Oracle Server releases are 8.1.5, 8.1.6, 8.1.7, 9.0.1,

9.0.2, 9.2.The Oracle Server release must be certified to run on the operating system. Fordetails on the operating systems that the Oracle Server release supports, refer tothe Oracle documentation.

NetWorker Software Requirements

For Oracle backups, ensure that the NetWorker software requirements in the followingsections are met:

• "NetWorker Server Software" on page 22• "NetWorker Client Software" on page 22

To ensure that the existing computer hardware is compatible with the NetWorkersoftware, refer to the Legato Hardware Compatibility Guide on the Legato web site.

NetWorker Server Software

A supported NetWorker server release 6.x or later (with all applicable patches) mustbe installed on either the Oracle Server host or a different remote host for regular Oraclebackups.

NetWorker server release 7.1 is required for proxy backups.

The NetWorker server release must be certified to work with the NetWorker clientrelease installed on the Oracle Server host computer, and it must be supported on theparticular operating system. For details on the supported operating systems, refer tothe Legato Software Compatibility Guide on the Legato web site.

For details on how to install the NetWorker server software, refer to the LegatoNetWorker Installation Guide.

NetWorker Client Software

If the NetWorker server is not installed on the Oracle Server host, a supportedNetWorker client release 6.x or later (with all applicable patches) must be installed forregular Oracle backups.

NetWorker client release 7.1 is required for proxy backups.

The NetWorker client release must be certified to run on the operating system. Fordetails on the supported operating systems, refer to the Legato Software CompatibilityGuide on the Legato web site.

NetWorker Module for Oracle Requirements

Ensure that there is sufficient disk space on the Oracle Server host for the NetWorkerModule for Oracle software and its documentation (PDF files).

• The software requires 6 MB of disk space.• The documentation requires 2 MB of disk space.

To access the software files on an Oracle Server host with a local CD-ROM drive:

1. Log in as root on the Oracle Server host.

2. Insert and mount the NetWorker Module CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive:

# mount /dev/cd_drivename /mount_point

3. Go to the correct directory on the CD-ROM, as described in Table 1 on page 25.

4. Continue with "Task 2: Install the Software" on page 28.

The evaluation release of NetWorker Module for Oracle downloaded from the Legatoweb site contains tarred and compressed versions of the software files.

Important: Ensure that there is sufficient free disk space (10 MB) to contain both thecompressed download file and the fully uncompressed and untarred files.

To access the software files from the Legato web site:

1. Request the NetWorker Module for Oracle software.

a. Go to the Legato web site at www.legato.com.b. Click the Downloads link.c. On the Evaluation Software Request page, select NetWorker Module for

Oracle from the products list. Then from the resulting table of products, clickNetWorker Module for Oracle, release 4.1 for the particular UNIX platform.

d. Complete and submit the Evaluation Request Form with the contactinformation. A Legato Inside Sales Representative will send you an e-mailwith a URL to the NetWorker Module for Oracle download file on the LegatoFTP site.

2. Access the software.

a. Log in as root on the Oracle Server host.b. Create a temporary installation directory in a local filesystem with sufficient

free disk space (10 MB) to contain and extract the downloaded software.For example:# mkdir /usr/nsr_extract_nmo

c. Click the URL you received to download the NetWorker Module for Oraclesoftware to the temporary directory you created, for example,/usr/nsr_extract_nmo.

d. Go to the installation directory. For example:# cd /usr/nsr_extract_nmo

e. Uncompress the downloaded file by entering the gunzip command, andreplacing the filename.tar.gz name with the specific download filename:# gunzip filename.tar.gz

f. Extract the uncompressed, tarred file:# tar xvpf filename.tar

The distribution software files are listed as the extraction proceeds.

Task 2: Install the Software

Once you have accessed the software files, you are ready to begin the installation.

To install the software on the UNIX system:

1. Ensure that you are logged in as root on the Oracle Server host.

2. Ensure that you are in the correct directory, as described in the following:

• "From a Local CD-ROM" on page 25• "From a Remote CD-ROM" on page 26• "From the Legato Web Site" on page 27Notes:

• If the installation is not started from the correct directory, the installationmight fail.

• The Oracle database does not need to be shut down during the installation.


• To install the software on a system that does not yet contain the NetWorkerModule for Oracle release 4.1, follow the instructions in "How to Install on aSystem without the Software" on page 28.

• To install the software on a 64-bit AIX, HP-UX (PA-RISC), or Solaris systemthat already contains either the 32-bit or 64-bit NetWorker Module for Oraclerelease 4.1, follow the instructions in "How to Install on a 64-Bit SystemContaining the 32-Bit or 64-Bit Software" on page 32.

4. If the MANPATH environment variable does not include the pathname of thedirectory containing the NetWorker Module for Oracle man pages, modify thevariable to include the correct pathname, to enable access to the man pages withthe man command.

The module man pages are installed in the same location as NetWorker client manpages. For example, with the man pages in the default directory, ensure that theMANPATH environment variable includes the /usr/man pathname.

How to Install on a System without the Software

To install on a system that does not contain the software, see the appropriate section:

Important: The software must be installed in the same base directory as the NetWorkerclient software. The software is relocatable during the installation on Linux—but only tothe same relocation path as the NetWorker client. For example, if the NetWorker clientsoftware is installed in the /disk1 (nondefault) directory, NetWorker Module for Oraclemust also be installed in the /disk1 directory.

To install on a Linux system that does not contain the software, enter the appropriaterpm command:

• On Linux (Intel):# rpm -i lgtonmo-4.1-1.i686.rpm

To verify that the installation succeeded, enter the rpm -aq command:

1. Verify the basedir variable setting in the /var/sadm/install/admin/default file. Thebasedir variable in this file can be set to one of three possible values:

• If basedir=default, the software will be installed in the same directory as theNetWorker client software.

• If basedir=ask, you will be prompted for the name of the base directory wherethe software will be installed.

• If basedir=/dirpath, the software will be installed in the /dirpath directory./dirpath must be the pathname of the NetWorker client software basedirectory, as determined by this pkgparam command:# pkgparam LGTOclnt BASEDIR

Important: The software must be installed in the same base directory as the NetWorkerclient software. The software is relocatable during the installation on Solaris—but onlyto the same relocation path as the NetWorker client. For example, if the NetWorkerclient software is installed in the /disk1 (nondefault) directory, NetWorker Module forOracle must also be installed in the /disk1 directory.

2. Enter the pkgadd command as follows:

# pkgadd -d /dir_pathname LGTOnmo

3. Complete the installation steps, depending on the basedir variable setting in the/var/sadm/install/admin/default file.

• If basedir=default in the file, enter y when prompted whether to continue theinstallation.The software is installed in the same directory as the NetWorker clientsoftware.

• If basedir=ask in the file, perform the following:a. Enter the result of the pkgparam LGTOclnt BASEDIR command when

prompted for the pathname of the base directory.b. Enter y when prompted whether to continue the installation.

The software is installed in the specified base directory.

Note: If an incorrect pathname is entered at the prompt, the installationdisplays an error and the software is installed in the incorrect directory. Inthis case, uninstall the software using the pkgrm LGTOnmo commandand reinstall it, entering the correct pathname at the first pkgadd prompt.

Note: If /dirpath is not the base directory where the NetWorker client softwareis installed, the installation displays an error and the software is installed in theincorrect directory. In this case:

How to Install on Tru64 UNIX

To install on a Tru64 UNIX system that does not contain the software, perform thefollowing:

How to Install on a 64-Bit System Containing the 32-Bit or 64-Bit Software

To install on a 64-bit AIX, HP-UX (PA-RISC), or Solaris system that already containseither the 32-bit or 64-bit NetWorker Module for Oracle release 4.1, perform one of thefollowing:

• To install the 32-bit software on the 64-bit system that contains the 64-bitsoftware, copy the 32-bit library file from the correct directory to /usr/lib, as listedin Table 3 on page 32. The library file is located either on the software releaseCD-ROM or in the web download of the 32-bit software, as appropriate.

• To install the 64-bit software on the 64-bit system that contains the 32-bitsoftware, copy the 64-bit library file from the correct directory to /usr/lib, as listedin Table 4 on page 33. The library file is located either on the software releaseCD-ROM or in the web download of the 64-bit software, as appropriate.

Task 3: Link the NetWorker Module for Oracle Library File

After installing the software files, you need to link the module library file with theOracle Server for each Oracle installation that will use the module software for itsbackups. Depending on the operating system and Oracle Server release, the commandsto link the library (see Table 5 on page 34) perform one or both of the following:

• Replace a symbolic link to the NetWorker Module for Oracle library.• Relink the library with the Oracle libraries.

Guidelines for Entering the Linking Commands

Table 5 on page 34 lists the commands for linking the module library file. Refer to thefollowing guidelines when entering the commands on the UNIX system:

• A default NetWorker Module for Oracle installation is assumed, with theNetWorker Module for Oracle library file installed in the default directory,/usr/lib.

• The commands apply only to Oracle base releases (if available). Link instructionsmight vary with patched releases of the Oracle Server.

• The Oracle Server release is assumed to be 32-bit unless stated otherwise.

How to Link the NetWorker Module for Oracle Library File

Perform this procedure for each Oracle installation that will use the module softwarefor its backups.

Note: If installing on Oracle9i, you are not required to shut down and restart Oracleinstances that use the ORACLE_HOME (steps 2 and 4) when linking the library file.

To link the module library file with the Oracle Server:

1. Log in as the ORACLE_HOME owner:

Install NetWorker Module for Oracle on each required node of a cluster to be used forbackup and restore operations:

1. Meet all the requirements in "Installation Requirements" on page 21.

2. Follow the instructions in "Installing on a Single Oracle Server Host" on page 24.

The NetWorker client software for a supported cluster platform might not be certifiedto run in the cluster environment. This will not, however, affect the functionality ofNetWorker Module for Oracle on the cluster, OPS, or RAC system.

The NetWorker client software (certified or not) on the cluster platform can:

• Be installed and configured along with NetWorker Module for Oracle on eachnode of the cluster.

• Work with NetWorker Module for Oracle to perform Oracle backups and restoresthrough Recovery Manager (RMAN) scripts.

Important: To back up and restore important Oracle files such as init<oracle_sid>.orathat are not backed up or restored through RMAN scripts, use NetWorker clientsoftware that is certified for the cluster.


Chapter 5: Install Procedures on Windows

This chapter describes how to install NetWorker Module for Oracle release 4.1 on asupported Windows operating system.

Note: For the convention used in this guide to refer to the NetWorker softwareinstallation path on Windows, see "Software Installation Path on Windows" onpage 38.

To install the software on either a single Oracle Server host or a cluster, OPS, or RACsystem, see the appropriate section:

Important: After the NetWorker Module for Oracle installation, if the NetWorkersoftware on the Oracle Server host is upgraded and the NetWorker client installationdirectory is changed to a different location, the NetWorker Module for Oracle softwaremust be:• Uninstalled according to the instructions in "Uninstalling on Windows" on

page 60.• Reinstalled according to the "Installation Roadmap" on page 20.

Software Installation Path on WindowsThis guide refers to the root directory of the NetWorker installation path on Windowsby using the variable NetWorker_install_path. The actual location represented by thisvariable depends on when and how the NetWorker software was installed on theWindows platform.

For new installations of NetWorker release 7.0 and later, the default location is%SystemDrive%\Program Files\Legato\nsr.

The installation path is not changed during a NetWorker update. For example, aninstallation of NetWorker release 6.x software that has been updated to release 7.0 hasthe default installation path %SystemDrive%\Program Files\nsr.

In NetWorker documentation, references to locations under the installation root usethe NetWorker_install_path variable in the path statement. For example, the daemon.logfile is located in the <NetWorker_install_path>\logs directory.

Task 2: Install the Software

Once you have accessed the software files, you are ready to begin the installation.

To install the software on Windows:

1. Ensure that you are logged on as administrator on the Oracle Server host.

2. Shut down the Oracle instances and services.

3. Ensure that you are in the correct directory, as described in these sections:


Note: If the installation is not started from the correct directory, the installationmight fail.

4. Run the installation program.

• If installing from the NetWorker Module CD-ROM, run the setup.exeprogram.

• If installing from the web download file, run the correct program, asdescribed in Table 7 on page 41.

5. In the Setup dialog box, select the Install option to start the installation.

The installation program installs the software binaries in the same directory as theNetWorker client binaries—the <NetWorker_install_path>\bin directory—bydefault.Notes:

• For more information on the <NetWorker_install_path> directory, see"Software Installation Path on Windows" on page 38.

• If the installation program detects no NetWorker client binaries on theWindows system, it displays an error message and exits without installing theNetWorker Module for Oracle software.

6. Verify that the system Path environment variable includes the NetWorker clientinstallation directory. If required, add the NetWorker client installation directoryto the system Path variable.

Important: Do not include any spaces before or after the NetWorker client directorypathname in the system Path environment variable. If there are any spaces before orafter the pathname in the variable, the Oracle software cannot locate the NetWorkerModule for Oracle library file, orasbt.dll, during backup and restore operations.

The following examples show invalid Path variable entries that contain a space beforeor after the NetWorker client directory pathname, C:\Program Files\nsr\bin. (Thecharacters before and after the space appear in bold font, to be easier to distinguish.)

For example, in the following line from an init<oracle_sid>.ora file, replaceempire.legato.com with the fully qualified domain name of the Windows NT system:db_domain = empire.legato.com

Task 3: Enable the Software

After installation, enable the NetWorker Module for Oracle software by using theinstructions in "Chapter 6: Evaluating and Licensing Procedures" on page 44.

Installing on a Cluster, OPS, or RAC SystemOn a Windows cluster, OPS, or RAC system, the NetWorker Module for Oraclesupports any clustering software that Oracle supports.

Note: NetWorker Module for Oracle release 4.1 does not support OPS or RAC systemsfor proxy backups.

For details on the operating system and Oracle versions supported with cluster, OPS,and RAC systems, refer to the current Legato Software Compatibility Guide on the Legatoweb site.

Install NetWorker Module for Oracle on each required node of a cluster to be used forbackup and restore operations:

1. Meet all the requirements in "Installation Requirements" on page 21.

2. Follow the instructions in "Installing on a Single Oracle Server Host" on page 39.

The NetWorker client software for a supported cluster platform might not be certifiedto run in the cluster environment. This will not, however, affect the functionality ofNetWorker Module for Oracle on the cluster, OPS, or RAC system.

The NetWorker client software (certified or not) on the cluster platform can:

• Be installed and configured along with NetWorker Module for Oracle on eachnode of the cluster.

• Work with NetWorker Module for Oracle to perform Oracle backups and restoresthrough RMAN scripts.

Important: To back up and restore important Oracle files such as init<oracle_sid>.orathat are not backed up or restored through RMAN scripts, use NetWorker clientsoftware that is certified for the cluster.


Chapter 6: Evaluating and Licensing Procedures

When NetWorker software is installed, it is in a temporary evaluation mode with all ofthe features available. This chapter explains how to enable the NetWorker softwareand features for permanent use. The chapter also describes the Legato NetWorkerlicensing model and provides a basic explanation of licensing for the differentNetWorker editions, modules, and features, but it does not provide a comprehensivedescription of every possible licensing scenario. For specific licensing questions,contact a Legato Sales Representative.

The chapter includes the following sections:

How NetWorker Software Is LicensedLicensing NetWorker software means entering enabler and authorization codes on theserver for the NetWorker environment. Without these codes, the software or addedfeatures will not run beyond the evaluation period.

Each installation of NetWorker server software must be licensed with a base enablerwhich “turns on” the software and allows you to use a particular bundle of features,such as a specified number of clients and devices. All licensing takes place on theserver: The licenses are entered and stored on the server, and the server enforces thelicensing.

Base enablers come in four editions:

• Power Edition• Network Edition• Workgroup Edition• Business Edition

These four editions enable varying degrees of functionality. Add-on enablers allow abroader scope of features. For more information about the editions and differentfunctionality, see "NetWorker Licenses" on page 51.

The Evaluation ProcessEvaluating NetWorker software can take place in two ways:

• By evaluating a new installation of the software on a NetWorker server.• By evaluating NetWorker features on an existing NetWorker installation.

Evaluating a New Installation

When you first install the NetWorker software, you can evaluate it with all themodules and features for 30 days free without entering any codes. If 30 days is notenough, you can gain an additional 15 days by entering "grace" in the Auth Codeattribute, as described in "How to Apply Grace" on page 46.

By the end of the evaluation period, you must purchase, enter, and authorize a baseenabler to continue using the NetWorker software to back up data. The base enabler isthe license that enables the edition purchased. To obtain a base enabler, contact eitherLegato Sales or a Legato Reseller. For contact information, see "Information andServices" on page 9. For more information about entering and authorizing the enabler,see "The Licensing Process" on page 47.

To continue using some of the modules and features that were available with theevaluation software, you may need to purchase add-on enablers, depending on theedition of base enabler you purchase. For more information about the differentNetWorker editions and features, see "NetWorker Licenses" on page 51.

Evaluating Features on an Existing Installation

If you are evaluating one or more NetWorker modules or features on an edition ofNetWorker software that has already been installed and enabled, you must enter atemporary enabler for each module or feature. The temporary enabler is valid for45 days.

• To obtain a temporary enabler code, refer to the Contents documentation in theLegato Media Kit, or contact Legato Sales or a Legato Reseller.

• To enter the temporary enabler code, see "How to Enter a Temporary EnablerCode" on page 46.

Note: If the Business, Network, or Workgroup edition is already installed and enabledon a computer, and you want to evaluate Power Edition, Legato recommends using adifferent computer as a temporary NetWorker server for evaluation purposes.

If 45 days is not enough, you can gain an additional 15 days by entering "grace" in theAuth Code attribute, as described in "How to Apply Grace" on page 46.

By the end of the evaluation period, you must purchase, enter, and authorize thecorresponding license enablers to continue using modules or features you haveevaluated. For instructions, see "The Licensing Process" on page 47. For moreinformation about the different NetWorker editions and features, see "NetWorkerLicenses" on page 51.

How to Enter a Temporary Enabler Code

To enter the temporary enabler code:

On UNIX:

1. Log in as root or as NetWorker administrator on the NetWorker server.

2. Start the NetWorker Administrator program.

3. From the Server menu, select Registration.

The Registration window opens.

4. In the Registration window, click the Create button.

5. Enter the enabler code in the Enabler Code attribute.

Filling in the Comment attribute is optional.

Important: The temporary enabler code is valid on only one computer in a network. Ifyou enter the same code on more than one computer in a network, a copy protectionviolation error occurs and the NetWorker server software is disabled on all NetWorkerservers with duplicate enablers.

How to Apply Grace

To apply the grace period at the end of the evaluation period:

1. Perform step 1 through step 3 of the preceding procedure, "How to Enter aTemporary Enabler Code".

2. Complete the procedure to apply grace as follows:

On UNIX:

a. In the Registration window, enter "grace" in the Auth Code attribute.b. Click Apply.

The Licensing ProcessTo permanently use NetWorker software, you must purchase and enter a licenseenabler code, and then authorize it. This licensing process is the same for all editionsof NetWorker software as well as for individual modules and features. To purchase thelicense enabler, contact a Legato Sales Representative.

The license enabler code that you purchase is valid for 45 days, as a registration period.During the registration period, you must obtain and enter a correspondingauthorization code.

The following sections explain how to enter and authorize the license enabler:

Task 1: Enter the License Enabler Code

License enabler codes are included in either the letter announcing the updated orupgraded software, or on the Enabler Certificate you receive when you purchase asoftware license. This depends on whether the software purchased is a first-timepurchase, or an updated or upgraded version.

Note: To save time when entering a number of licences, enter the base enabler last.Otherwise, once a base enabler is entered, devices that do not yet have licenses enteredmay be disabled; those devices would have to be re-enabled manually after theirlicenses were installed.

Register Legato products and obtain authorization codes online by completing aregistration form on the Legato web site at www.legato.com. Web registration takes justa few minutes and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

An authorization code that permanently enables the NetWorker license will be sentby e-mail.

Important: To avoid an interruption in scheduled backups if you move the NetWorkersoftware from one computer to another, or to change the network address of acomputer after the software is installed, you must either:• Contact Legato Licensing to obtain a new authorization code. Legato requires the

host ID of the original server as well as the new server. The host ID is displayed inthe server’s Registration window.For contact information, see "Licensing and Registration" on page 10.

• Install and configure the Legato License Manager software. For more informationon using the License Manager, see "Managing Legato Licenses" on page 53; alsorefer to the latest Legato License Manager Installation and Administrator's Guide.

NetWorker LicensesThere are four different levels, or editions, of base enabler:

• NetWorker Power Edition — For high-demand data centers and large, complexenvironments

• NetWorker Network Edition — For high-volume, enterprise-level environments• NetWorker Workgroup Edition — For branch offices and small departmental

environments• NetWorker Business Edition — For businesses that require a full-function,

entry-level backup software that includes a bundled library module.

Each of these editions permits you to use the software for a specified number of clientsand devices. These four editions also enable different degrees of parallelism andsupport different add-on modules, including extra client connections, devices, orfeatures.

Important: An HP Superdome computer requires a separate enabler for each partitionon which a NetWorker server or storage node runs.

Multiplatform Licensing

The client connections that come with a NetWorker server can be used for only thatserver platform; a ClientPak® license allows the NetWorker server to back up clientsof different platforms. For example, the client connections accompanying a NetWorkerserver for Windows can be used only for Windows client computers; similarly, theclient connections that come with a NetWorker server for Solaris can be used for Solarisclients only. With a ClientPak for UNIX, other UNIX platforms can be enabled for usewith the NetWorker Server for Solaris. The ClientPak for UNIX supports all UNIXplatforms; therefore, the UNIX ClientPak is sufficient for all UNIX clients backed up bya UNIX or Windows server.

Note: The NetWorker software treats Linux as a separate operating system, so aClientPak for Linux is necessary to back up Linux clients by either UNIX or Windowsservers.

Example: Multiplatform Licensing Schemes

A company was using a Linux server to back up Solaris, Linux, and Windows NTclients. It needed two ClientPak licenses, one for Solaris and one for Windows. Thecompany added HP-UX and AIX clients, which required the addition of a ClientPaklicense for UNIX. As the company grew and needed to add a server, it added aWindows 2000 server, which backed up the Windows NT and subsequent Windows2000 clients without requiring a ClientPak. The company also made the Solariscomputer a NetWorker server to back up the HP-UX, Solaris, and AIX clients, using asingle ClientPak for UNIX.

Update Enablers

To update existing NetWorker software to a major release (one that introducesimportant new features), an update enabler is necessary. Update enablers are requiredfor any major NetWorker software upgrade from release 4.0 and later, includingNetWorker release 7.0. To use the Legato License Manager, the NetWorker server mustbe release 5.0 or later.

With a first-time purchase of NetWorker software, a one-year update agreement maybe included. After a year, an update enabler may be acquired with a new updateagreement purchase.

Required Update Enablers

Table 8 on page 52 lists the NetWorker releases that require update enablers.

Additional Licenses

This section describes a few of the additional licenses required to operate some of theNetWorker features. For a complete list, contact a Legato Sales Representative.

Client Connection Licenses

Every computer to be backed up in a NetWorker datazone requires a client connectionlicense, even the NetWorker server. The client connection license may be one of thelicenses supplied with the base enabler or purchased separately. A cluster client orNDMP data server requires a special type of client connection license, as described in"Cluster Clients" or "NDMP Licensing" on page 53.

Storage Nodes

Each storage node requires a storage node license in addition to its client connectionlicense. A dedicated storage node, which allows the storage node to back up only itself, islicensed separately.

Legato NetWorker Application Modules

NetWorker Application Modules are licensed on the basis of one enabler per databasetype host. For example, to back up the Oracle database on two hosts, two NetWorkerModule for Oracle enablers are required, even if the two hosts are backed up by thesame server. However, if multiple database instances are running on a NetWorkerclient host, only one NetWorker Module enabler is required for that one host.

Cluster Clients

For each physical node in a cluster, you must purchase a Cluster Client Connection,which takes the place of one standard client connection. To place a NetWorker serverin a cluster, you must have Power Edition. For more information on licensingcomputers in a cluster, refer to the Legato NetWorker Administrator’s Guide.

NDMP Licensing

NDMP licensing requires one NDMP Client Connection per NDMP data server. TheNDMP Client Connection is valid for any supported NDMP data server. The NDMPdata server does not require a standard client connection.

Managing Legato LicensesThe Legato License Manager provides centralized license management, allowing youto maintain all of an enterprise’s NetWorker licenses from a single computer. With theLicense Manager, you can move NetWorker software from one computer to another,or change the IP address on an existing NetWorker server without having toreauthorize the software. The License Manager can be installed as an option duringNetWorker software installation.

The general steps to begin implementing the License Manager are to:

1. Contact Legato Licensing to obtain bulk enabler codes. For contact information,see "Licensing and Registration" on page 10.

2. Install the License Manager software.

3. Configure the License Manager and configure the NetWorker servers to access theLicense Manager for their licenses.

For details on installing and using the License Manager, refer to the latest Legato LicenseManager Installation and Administrator's Guide.


Chapter 7: Uninstall Procedures

This chapter describes how to uninstall NetWorker Module for Oracle release 4.1 on asupported UNIX or Windows operating system.

To uninstall NetWorker Module for Oracle, see the appropriate section:

• "Uninstalling on UNIX" on page 54• "Uninstalling on Windows" on page 60

Uninstalling on UNIX

Important: The uninstall procedure removes the nsrnmo script used for scheduledOracle backups. To save any customizations made to the nsrnmo script, save a copy ofthe script before uninstalling the software.

Notes:

• If uninstalling on Oracle9i, you are not required to shut down and restart Oracleinstances that use the ORACLE_HOME (steps 2b and 2d in the followingprocedure).

• If uninstalling from a cluster, you must perform the uninstall procedure on eachrequired node of the cluster.

How to Uninstall the Software on UNIX

To uninstall the software:

1. Ensure that no Oracle database backups are running.

2. Follow these steps for each Oracle installation that uses the NetWorker Module forOracle software for its backups:

a. Log in as the ORACLE_HOME owner:# su ORACLE_HOME_owner

b. Shut down all Oracle instances that use this ORACLE_HOME.

c. Refer to Table 9 on page 55 and enter the appropriate commands.

Note: If the NetWorker Module for Oracle was installed by copying alibnwora32.* or libnwora64.* file to /usr/lib, then replace libnwora.* in thecommands with libnwora32.* or libnwora64.*, as appropriate.

Depending on the operating system and Oracle Server release, the commandsreplace or remove a symbolic link to the Oracle System Backup to Tape (SBT)implementation library and/or relink the Oracle Server.

Important: The commands in Table 9 on page 55 restore the Oracle software to its stateprior to the NetWorker Module for Oracle installation. If the installation commandsfrom "Chapter 4: Install Procedures on UNIX" on page 24 were not followed exactly,the Oracle software might not be restored to its state prior to the installation. Uninstalling on Windows

Important: The uninstall procedure removes the nsrnmo.bat script used for scheduledOracle backups. To save customizations made to the script, save a copy of the scriptbefore uninstalling the software.

Note: If uninstalling the NetWorker Module for Oracle software from a cluster, youmust perform the uninstall procedure on each required node of the cluster.

How to Uninstall the Software on Windows

To uninstall the software:

1. Log on as administrator.

2. Ensure that no Oracle database backups are running.

3. Shut down the Oracle instances and services.

4. In the Windows Start menu, select Settings>Control Panel.

5. In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs.

Solaris If the software was installed by copying thelibnwora32.so or libnwora64.so file to /usr/lib,delete the libnwora32.so or libnwora64.so file.

If the software was installed with thepkgadd command, enter the followingpkgrm command:# pkgrm LGTOnmo

Note: On 64-bit Solaris, if the software isuninstalled with the pkgrm command, and alibnwora32.so or libnwora64.so file remains in/usr/lib, perform the following:1. Delete the libnwora32.so or libnwora64.so



If using the pkgrm program, performthe following according to the basedirvariable setting in the/var/sadm/install/admin/default file:• If basedir=default in the file, enter y

when prompted. The software isuninstalled from the directorycontaining the NetWorker clientsoftware.

• If basedir=ask in the file, enter theresult of the pkgparam LGTOnmoBASEDIR command when promptedfor the pathname of the base directory.The software is uninstalled from thespecified base directory.

• If basedir=/dirpath in the file, enter ywhen prompted. The software isuninstalled from the specified /dirpathdirectory.
