As the economy goes from bad to worse, companies

have become more aggressive in enforcing non-compete

agreements against departing employees and suing

those former workers for trade-secret misappropriation,

the Workforce Management news Web site reported.

Cases are filed to salvage what's lost when an employee

leaves and to send a message to other employees,

Marguerite Walsh, a partner at San Francisco's Littler

Mendelson, told Workforce Management.

These days, companies are suing more departing junior

employees than in the past, instead of just the most

senior executives, according to Workforce Management.

Companies are even enforcing non-compete agreements

against employees they terminate, Workforce

Management reported.
