Building sitesSince the risk of an industrial accident on construction sites is on average twice as high as anywhere else, care must be taken to ensure that the construction site is sufficiently safe, which requires, among other things, investment in adequate lighting. A distinction is made between different types of construction sites, whereby sufficient and uniform lighting is to be ensured, espe-cially for 24-hour and night construction sites. Construction sites usually cover large areas, which is why spotlights are best suited to illuminating the building site. In addition to having a high luminous flux, these should also be splash water-protected and dustproof in order to meet the high demands of the environment.

Industrial environments place special requirements on lighting systems. Long operating times and critical atmospheres place heavy demands on any lighting system, and maintenance is often associated with major effort and high costs.

For industrial applications, Tridonic combines the benefits of the indoor segment with those of outdoor products. This results in LED solutions with high efficiency, low standby losses and increased die-lectric strength for extended temperature ranges. The Tridonic range of products are perfect replacements for fluorescent and HID light sources as they meet all the requirements for industrial lighting.

Reliable light for every need

Heavy metal industryBecause of its complex production process, the heavy metal industry is characte-rised by extreme environmental conditions. This process involves steel scrap being heated to a melting temperature of over 1,600°C in blast furnaces. This process alone consumes approx. 100 megawatts of power. Multiple cooling and heating steps in the production process lead to major differences in temperature within the production hall. As the liquid steel is cast into blooms, cut in the flame cutting machine and formed in the rolling mill, the luminaires are continuous-ly exposed to vibrations, shocks, enormous forces and a high amount of dirt. Although the components are subject to high stress due to external influences, high reliability is essential to guarantee employee safety and to ensure conti-nuous operation and high productivity.

Deep-freeze warehousesAccording to the HACCP guidelines, the prescribed minimum temperature for deep-freeze warehouses and deep-freeze logis-tics centres is below -18°C. Depending on the products (meat, fro-zen food and special products such as medicines, etc.), the tem-peratures are therefore between -18°C and -30°C. Due to the high air exchange rates, temperatures as low as -48°C can occur at certain points. In order to avoid devices malfunctioning at these extreme temperatures, cold-resistant equipment and electronics suitable for deep-freezing must be used and precise placement ensured. In addition, low temperatures pose a high challenge in terms of energy saving because the lower the temperature, the more energy must be consumed, which is why the energy efficiency of devices makes a significant contribution to the long-term profitability of deep-freeze warehouses. A further critical issue with regard to deep-freeze warehouses is fire protection, as fires can only be extinguished with antifreeze or by oxygen re-duction. In order to ensure employee safety, reliable lighting with an advanced emergency function is therefore required to enable the employees to leave the premises quickly.

This sensor for luminaire fixtures combines daylight and motion detection in two ultra-slimline housing variants with various fixing points. It is especially suitable for industrial applications and extreme heights. The high-frequency tech-nology means that motion can easily be detected, even through glass and plastic. In addition to the detection range, a threshold for the ambient light and the delay time before switch off can also be set by the nine dip switches in the sensors. The bright-out function prevents the light from switching on when there is sufficient daylight.
