    Central processing UNIT (CPU) takes data and instructionsfrom storage unit and makes all sorts of calculations based on

    the instructions given and the type of data provided.

    Then, it send back to the storage unit

    CPU includes Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) and Control Unit(CU

    Arithmetic Logic Unit

    All calculations and comparisonsbased on the instruction provided are

    carried out within the ALU.

    It performs arithmetic functions likeaddition, subtraction, multiplication,

    division and also logical operationslike greater than, less than and equal

    to.

    Control Unit

    Controlling of all operations likeinput, processing and output are

    performed by control unit.

    It takes care of step by stepprocessing of all operations in side

    the computer

    Storage Device is hardware device capable of holdinginformation.

    There are two(2) storage device used in computers.There are primary storage and secondary storage

    Storage Device are devices used

    to input data or information. There

    are two (2) storage devices used

    in the computer. There are:

    a) Primary storageb) Secondary storage.

    Also known as main memory or internal memory.

    The memory for the CPU

    The only one directly accessible to the CPU.

    The CPU continuously reads instructions stored there and executesthem as required.

    Any data actively operated on is also stored there in uniform manner.

    PrimaryStorage

    The computer usually uses its input/output channels to accesssecondary storage and transfers the desired data using intermediatearea in primary storage.

    Secondary storage does not lose the data when the device ispowered down it is non-volatile. Per unit, it is typically also two ordersof magnitude less expensive than primary storage.

    Modern computer systems typically have two orders of magnitudemore secondary storage than primary storage and data are kept for alonger time there.

    A computer communication device is a tool that enables

    two or more computers to talk to each other.

    For the communication to occur, the computers must

    agree on the protocols and other procedures to be used. There are several kinds of communications devices used

    in a computer.

    Some of the device provide different ways of achieving

    the same functionality and some that provide specializedservices.
