Anyone who exercises now and then knows it. Suddenly you are aware of muscles you never knew you had and it takes more than half a day to get them moving again. The best way to prevent this is to exercise regu-larly. Because we know that movement is the most important aid during the radon baths, our professionally trained physiother-apists will teach you the right habits. Dur-ing individual or group exercises in a gym, swimming pool or on machines, they will help you increase your physical condition. You will learn the right coordination of your movements and muscles, taking some valu-able experience home with you.

This special massage technique is one of our physiotherapists’ “works of art”. By working on the reflex points of zones in the subcutis, muscles and periosteum it affects the working of the entire locomotor apparatus. Massage has a beneficial effect on the internal organs, nerves and vascular system as well as on the body’s functional disorders.

To relax the soft tissues and remove functional blocks on the spine and joints, it is necessary to use the indi-vidual action of a physician or physiotherapist. Using the hands, a softball, an overball or foam rubber balls they will unblock your spine and joints at the same time relaxing the musculature and the soft tissues.

Together with top-class physiotherapy, radon baths are the cornerstone of the treatment at Jáchymov. Mineral water containing radon is released into the special hy-dropathic baths from the bottom and is reminiscent of a spring slowly filling a pond. This ensures the most ef-fective use of the therapeutic ra-don, which would otherwise be released before reach-ing the surface if the bath were filled in the usual manner. You will relax for 15 to 20 minutes in a bath at 35 - 37°C with an ideal concen-tration of radon at 4 - 5 kBq/litre. At the end of the procedure you will be wrapped in a warm blanket or sheet and lie on a couchette. It is necessary to have at least ten baths so that your body can react to the therapy and start the regeneration processes. Dur-ing this period it also stimulates the glands with internal secretions (including the sexual ones). The regeneration does not, however, stop after the last bath; it carries on for another four to six weeks. So how long will this en-ergy help you with your pain? For some it is more than half a year. In the majority of cases, the use of analgetics and other medicines drops considerably.

This hydropathic massage in warm water at 36°C and full of air bubbles is intended for all diseases of the locomo-tor apparatus including pain in the spine. After the bath we will let you relax in a warm poultice so you can fully enjoy its calming, relaxing and massage effects.

Underwater massage combines the beneficial effects of massage and warm water. The en-tire body is massaged by water at 36°C under a pressure of three atmospheres. It relaxes the body; above all, it removes overall fatigue and stiffness.

The water is a constant 36°C and you can either totally immerse yourself in it or just “dip” your hands and feet. It has jets of water that will pleasantly massage you. This considerably aids you body’s blood circulation and per-fectly relaxes the body.

Do you like the smell of herbs or the smell of the sea? We can provide all of these for you. We sprinkle the additives into a bath at 36°C so that you feel absolutely wonderful and at ease and so that the carefully selected combination will help regenerate and relax you. This procedure tones and activates the blood vessels and is good for toughening the body, strengthening the immune system and improving blood flow. The entire body is mas-saged by alternating jets of warm water (40°C) and cold water (25°C). So come and try out the healthy jet!

The very pleasant and highly effective CO2 bath is a huge temptation for every spa guest. This natural method stimulates the body’s physiological func-tions, which naturally increases your defences and mental wellbeing. So what do you have to do? Hard-ly a thing.Turn up and lie down – the spa nurses will do the rest. They will place you in a bag full of carbon di-oxide. There’s no need to worry, your head will be outside. If it is unpleasant, all you have to do is say so. The bag is tied under your armpits. In a reaction to the increased CO2 the body expands the blood vessels including the capillaries. This increases the oxygen flow to both the skin’s surface and such important organs as the brain, the coronary artery or the kidneys. Among experts, this procedure is known as “the bag”. It is suitable for absolutely eve-ryone, regardless of age. The main indications are heart disease, high blood pressure, disorders of the brain and the peripheral nervous system. Due to its mildly sedative effects, it is also suitable for mini-mising stress in neurotic individuals. How does it work? It is very simple, you sit between two panels or you put a cylinder with electrodes on the af-flicted place. Then, the pulse magnetic field generator does the rest.

You will definitely enjoy this special, comfortable chair. Just sit down and enjoy the pleasant massage of the shoulders, back, but-tocks and legs. It relaxes stiff muscles and the back leaving you with a pleas-ant relaxed feeling.

As well as a manual lymph drainage, this procedure improves the blood flow to the tissues, alleviates painful tension and the feeling of heavy legs. A special machine is used for sequential pressure mas-sage with drainage covers for the hands or feet. These are multi-chambered covers and gradually inflating individual chambers al-lows intermittent drainage of the entire limb.

Do you need an excellent expectorant? Then try inhaling an aerosol of tepid mineral water. It moistens the mucous membranes helping you cough up any mucous.

Dislike injections? You don’t have to be afraid of this, it is applied directly to where your ailment is. Either meristically or to the acupuncture points. It contains 5 – 30 ml of thermal carbon diox-ide. It improves local blood flow, works in a reflective manner and helps pain relief.

The pleasant infrared radiation will warm you as you sit comfortably on a chair. Similar to mountain sunshine, the therapeutic heat helps re-lieve chronic pain in the muscles, large joints and back or helps with chronic inflammation of the sinuses. The bio lamp is an ideal aid in healing injuries and tissue renewal. By means of visible and infrared light it ensures better blood flow in the tissues thus accelerating all healing pro-cesses.

If heat can heal, then why not cold? At Jáchymov Spa you can try both. In machine-assisted cryotherapy you will meet a stream of cold air at -30°C, which is blown onto the painful parts. Or you can have bags at -18°C placed on them. This form of treat-ment is recommended following injury, during muscle cramps or arthrosis with inflammatory irritation. The discovery of the cryocabin led to a boom in cryotherapy. Your body is place in liquid nitrogen at -160°C for one to three minutes. The sen-sitive areas are protected and your head is outside of the “frozen space”. An-yone who has tried it will know that extremely cold temperatures warm you up. At the right dosing the cold will rid you of pain, inflamma-tion and susceptibility to illness.

Inhaling oxygen from an oxygen mask whilst listening to relaxing music is one of the best ways to use the regenerative properties of oxygen. It signifi-cantly contributes to repairing all of your cells, especially those in the brain! The aim of oxygen therapy is to improve the supply of oxygen to the impor-tant organs such as the brain, the heart or the kidneys. In particular, it helps circulation that is in some way retarded so the blood is not fully saturated with oxygen. Oxygen therapy significantly accelerates thinking, has a posi-tive effect on the psyche, metabolism and slows down the ageing process. We recommend ten sessions in all.

This dry application of heat to the afflicted site is done through the clothing. The pack is made of three different kinds of mineral granules of volcanic origin and has no chemical compounds. It is placed on the afflicted area in accord with your wishes. Afterwards you rest under a blanket. The pack works for backache, sciatica, rheumatic problems, muscle fever, tense mus-cles, stiff shoulders and in healing injuries. An effective weapon in the fight against arthrosis and rheumatism is placing the hand in a warm, 52 - 55°C, paraffin bath, afterwards your hands will rest in a polyethylene bag and then we wrap them in a warm, dry towel. This relaxing and stimulating massage eases lymph flow, improves blood circulation and detoxicates your body. It significantly con-tributes to the elimination and prevention of cellulitis and aids in weight reduction. It is a typical ayurvedic massage of the whole body which is done with the aid of raw silk gloves and a mixture of Himalayan salts and herbs. The massage is complemented with ayur-vedic oils. In Japanese shiatsu means finger pressure. This is primarily carried out using the fingers and palms on the skin in various points according to the meridians connected to the important organs. The massage involves applying pressure to the individual points on these meridians, in developing an overall pressure and contract-

Thai oil massage is part of traditional Thai massage, but it also has elements of Ayur-veda. It is, however, different from European massage using oil. Due to its effects, it can be considered a therapeutic massage that relaxes the muscles, has a good effect on the blood and lymphatic system and also strengthens the immune system. This all helps the psyche, removes stress, soothes the nervous system and balances the organism’s energy potential.Likewise, regular massage reduces swelling, tissue hardening and helps regulate the intestine. Afterwards you will feel wonderfully relaxed both mentally and physically.

The pleasant sensation of specially heated stones with an extraordinarily strong energetic reaction perfectly removes stress, fatigue and tension. At the same time, it affects painful joints. This unusu-al exotic massage unblocks those parts of the body that prevent lymphatic flow. The feeling of relaxation is enhanced by various exotic aroma oils. If you have been living under physical and mental stress for a long time, you should definitely take time for hot stones. Apart from relaxing you, it will improve your blood circulation.

Indian head massage is a specific, sensitive massage of the hair, neck and shoulders aimed at releasing tension in the mus-
