Update from Mrs. Duits It has been fun getting to know the students of Lakewood Early Childhood Center over the last month. I am excited to be a part of the early stages of their educational career. LECC is a wonderful place to learn and grow. The teachers and staff members work incredibly hard to make sure our Little Vikes are successful learners. I truly believe that School + Home = SUCCESS! Please make sure you take the time to look through your child’s home folder each time it comes home. Sit with your child to go through their work. Take time each day to read to your child. Taking the time to do these simple things will help your child grow and blossom throughout the year. Background Check-Field Trips As field trips approach quickly, I just want to remind that all chaperones must fill out a form to get a State of Michigan background check. As a result of this policy, the chaperone name printed on the permission slip cannot be changed at the last minute. Our Kindergarten classes take their first field trip on Monday, October 2nd. The kindergarten classes are venturing to Klackle Orchard in Greenville. They will take a wagon ride and receive donut and cider, a small bag of apples and a small pumpkin. Our two kinderstart classes are heading to Country Mill in Charlotte on Tuesday, October 3rd. The kinderstart students will get to experience making cider along with going on a hayride, pick out a pumpkin and they even get to pick some apples off from a tree. This is such a fun trip in the fall. HERE’S WHAT WE’RE UP TO the LAKEWOOD EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER NEWS FOR PARENTS OF OUR LITTLEST VIKES LECC LINK LECC thoroughly enjoyed being a part of an awesome cause to help people living right here in our community. I would like to thank Jessica Stank for making this a huge success and to her many volunteers that passed out t- shirts on game day to make sure every one of our little Vikes had an orange shirt. I would like to thank our families for sending in donations to fill the viking ship. I appreciate your generosity. Lastly, the pep assembly was memorable. Who doesn’t remember their pep rallies as a kid? I know I remember them vividly. It was such an amazing thing for our little Vikes to experience hearing the band play our fight song, seeing the cheerleaders create a pyramid and to see the varsity football team in their orange jerseys. LECC was completely wowed! The Lakewood Community Tackling Hunger Cause Game

for Education

At LECC there are several ways that you can help our students out! One way is by sending in collection items and participating in fundraising opportunities. Money raised helps to pay for assemblies, playground equipment and special activities. Box Tops for Education is one thing that LECC collects. These labels can be found on many products and are worth 10 cents each! Box Tops are always due on the last Friday of each month. The class that brings in the most Box Tops will receive a special treat. Then, the class that brings in the most during the entire year will celebrate by having an ice cream sundae party!
