High quality trees, planting
and maintenance
Sourcing quality trees
• ‘Tools of the trade’ - Use AS
2303:2015 for all stock
inspections. Write it into your
supply contract.
• Inspect all trees and record quality
standards
• Contract grow. Incorporate AS
2303:2015 into your growing
contract.
• Be prepared to pay a deposit.
• 45L vs 40cm
Quality inspections
Plant to contemporary standards

Check your progress
Data is critical.
• Auditing
– Independent audit of all trees under maintenance (for CoM that is 3 years
of stock at the end of each planting season). Trees identified for
rework or replacement are assessed with the contractor in the field.
– Internal audits of planting sites as they are completed.
• Reporting
– Weekly reports from the contractor detailing activities (planting and/or
maintenance) including any sites with issues or where vandalism has
occurred.
• GIS
– Essential that new tree and auditing information is collected spatially.
