Jobs

Where do you get your money from Fred?

Page 16: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Jobs

Good question Franklin. I get my money from the bank, because that is where I work. Below is a picture of a bank. Banks also play a big role with other peoples’ money. Click on the bank to learn more about what they are.

Page 17: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Jobs

Here are two pictures of two different banks. Banks are used by people to put in and take out money when they need to. Banks also play an important role for people who want to save their money, because they can store it safely inside banks. Then they don’t have to worry about it getting lost or stolen.

Page 18: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Jobs

Also, since I work at the bank, it is considered my job. A job is something that all people should have to make money!

Page 19: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Jobs

Also, different jobs pay different amounts. Some more, some less, based on the quality of work. The least a job can pay is known as minimum wage.

Hint* Try thinking back to video you watched where money was created. Where was this taking place. Also, do you think the word treasure could possibly relate to money? Try again!

Page 22: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

The answer is the National Treasury because this is where all the money in the United States is created! Good job!!

Page 23: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Richest and Poorest Countries

Now that I know where money is made, do you know what country is the richest in the world?

Page 24: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Richest and Poorest Countries

Good question. The answer is Qatar. The reason is because Qatar is dependent on petroleum! This contributes to a lot of its earnings because a lot of other countries need petroleum from Qatar.

I bet you are now wondering which country is the poorest in the world. The answer to that question is the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The reasons are because of their

overpopulation, low education, and debt.

Hint* Think about which of these items we need to survive. Which one of these items do you use everyday to give you energy and stay alive? Try again!

Page 29: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

That is the correct answer!!

Food is the correct answer because it is necessary that we eat food to stay alive. Unlike a boat, pool, or nice car, food is something that everybody needs to remain healthy. If something is necessary for survival, it is considered a need!

Page 30: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Franklin, would a $200 pair of shoes be an example of a need or a want?

A. Need

B. Want

Page 32: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Your answer is not correct!

A $200 dollar pair of shoes would be an example of a want because they are very overpriced. They would probably be very nice shoes, and you don’t need nice shoes. You need a regular pair of shoes that you won’t spend too much money on to be considered a need.

Keep Going!

Page 33: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Your answer is correct!

You do not need to spend $200 dollars on a pair of shoes. It would be more reasonable to buy a $50 dollar pair of shoes then use the rest of the money to buy another need. Good job!

Page 34: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

What if I have to purchase a need, but do not have enough money for it?

Richest and Poorest Countries

Page 35: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Richest and Poorest Countries

Then Franklin, you need to lower your spending habits and start saving your money. If you save your money and let it accumulate over time, then you will have enough money to buy what you needed. Possibly even more! Saving is a great thing!

Page 36: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Richest and Poorest Countries

Another concept that you should understand is supply and demand! Supply and demand plays a key role in the process of how things are bought and sold. It is a very important part of economics! Watch this video!

Page 37: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Page 38: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

That is not the correct answer!

Hint* Think about the words in the question. Do any of the words relate to the numbers that are shown? Think about these words: Rate, Equal, Demand. Do any of these match up correctly with any answers? Try again!

Page 39: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Your answer is correct!

7 headphones being used for 7 people would be an equal rate of supply and demand! The reason is because there is not any extra being asked for, or any less being used. Many companies overshoot the supply rate, just to make sure there is enough for the people. Having a equal rate of supply and demand is a companies dream! Good job!

Page 40: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Page 42: Learning Objectives Given a list of 4 countries, 1 of which is the richest country in the world, students must be able to identify the richest country.

Your answer is correct!

Water is the correct answer! Water is vital for human life, and is not only a need to humans, but many animals as well. Unlike the other choices, water is the cheapest and is the most healthy for us. Although it may not taste as good as the other items, it’s the smart purchase in the situation.
