SWOT analysis

Being able to establish your current position  is central to reflective practice. ASWOT analysis is a simple tool that you can use to help you do this.

(SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.)Consider your strengths, and how they could be applied to both a teaching roleand to the effort required to produce the evidence for your Teaching and Learning

Portfolio.

You also need to consider any weaknesses that may offset your strengths. You will

need to address your weaknesses if you are to achieve your goals.Opportunities exist that can be used to help you to achieve your goals ² you need

to identify them. They may take the form of people or circumstances to be seized.Threats are external factors, rather than the internal issues of your weaknesses,

which must be dealt with in order for you to achieve your goals. For example, ashortage of funding.
