CAR MAINTENANCE MISTAKES AND

HOW NOT TO MAKE THEM

IGNORING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

There are a number of reasons the check engine light can come on in your vehicle. It could be a minor problem or it

could be major. Either way, DO NOT wait to get it checked out. Even if it is something minor, if not looked at it could turn

into a major problem. Get the vehicle looked at by a mechanic as soon as the light comes on (some mechanics will do it

for free or add the cost to any work they end up having to do) to save yourself a possible hefty bill in the future.

NOT CHECKING YOUR TIRE PRESSURE

Tire pressure can be something that is easy to forget about until it’s too late. On average, tires lose 1 to 2 pounds of

pressure for every 10 degree drop in temperature. Low air pressure could lead to bad fuel economy or a blowout. Even if

the tires do not look low they still could be. Check your tires air pressure regularly. Check your vehicles owners manual

for correct tire pressure (If you don’t have an owners manual you can easily find the information online).

OIL CHANGES

Motor oil and car engine technology has changed a lot over the years, so changing your oil every 3,000 miles is no long-

er necessary (unless you have an older vehicle, then more frequent oil changes may be necessary). The average oil

change interval on todays cars is around 7,800 miles. Still, DO NOT SKIP OIL CHANGES. Old motor oil breaks down in

your engine and can damage parts. It is also important to use the correct motor oil for your vehicle. All of this information

can be found in your owners manual or online.

NEGLECTING FLUID CHECKS

Oil is not the only fluid that needs to be replaced in your vehicle. Other fluids that should regularly be checked, topped

off, or replaced are: Brake fluid, transmission fluid, engine coolant, and power steering fluid. For specifications on when

these fluids should be serviced consult your owners manual.

NOT INSPECTING YOUR BRAKES

Don’t ignore any squealing or grinding noises coming from your brakes. Worn out brakes can be extremely dangerous as

they increase stopping distance or could lead to brake failure. So if you hear a squealing or grinding noise when you ap-

ply your brakes have it evaluated by a mechanic as soon as possible.

Congratulations to SACRAMENTO CLINIC for winning the Creativity Clinic Con-test!

Your prize will be an Ice cream party!

This month our survey has to do with the new year, specifically new year's resolutions. So

the big question is “what is your opinion about new year’s resolutions?

I don’t really put much stock into them. If someone wants to change, why wait until the

beginning of the year to start?

I like them. A nice way to wipe the slate clean and start the new year on a good note.

I tend to break my resolution within 48 hours of making them.

I think new year resolutions are a good way to challenge oneself, whether it is by mind

or body . Even if we “break” our resolution, be still can learn a little bit more about our-

selves from the experience alone.

Email your vote to [email protected] and see howbthe results stack up!

What is HIPAA?

Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. This Act is a standard for protecting sensitive patient

data. Any company dealing with protected health information must ensure that all the required physical,

network, and process security measures are in place and followed.

What does this mean for Learning Arts?

This means for us as a company, our networks has to be even more secure then your average network, this

means not allowing public phones or devices access to internal devices such as printers and servers. Getting

workstations created for employees to use instead of their personal devices when working with patient da-

ta.

Over time we will be adding more and more on this protocol. You may have noticed the email password re-

sets have been leading you to reset the password only for you to hit a wall and contact your support. This is

also in part due to the compliance.

Secure printing will also be upcoming as we want to protect the files being printed from the large copiers at

each location. Secure printing will allow users to print from a workstation and hold the print job until you

walk to the copier to release the job. That way there is no mix up of documents on the other side.

What do I do when I have a request with email or a form... or anything techincal?

Contact [email protected]! We all in the IT department use a cool new service request system that

allows us to manage and see incoming requests and assign it to the engineer best suited for the job. Re-

member to put the [email protected] email in the TO section and not CC. Otherwise we will not

recieve it correctly.

What do I do after I email [email protected]?

You will get an email confirmation with a message we have received your request. If you need to add any

more information reguarding the same request reply to that email. It will attach it for us on our side.

We may email back to you for more information. Likewise replying to the same email request will help us on

our side.

Once we have completed the request you will recieve a last email stating your request was completed. If if

infact wasn't you can reply to that closing request email and we will be able to see it as well.

We appriciate all you do and will continue to create better processes to make what you do

more efficient. Thank you!
