Kinder 2020 Enrolments

Enrolments are now being accepted for our 2020 Kindergarten intake.

Please drop in to the office and complete a pre enrolment details form if

your child turns 5 by 31 July 2020. You will also be required to show

proof of your child’s date of birth (usually birth certificate) and your

usual place of residence. A council rates notice or rental agreement in

addition to a utilities account (electricity, water or telephone) suffice as proof of usual residence. Please

phone the school for further details if required.

Lost Property

As the weather begins to cool down in the mornings students are wearing their jackets/jumpers to

school and taking them off as it warms up at lunchtime. Please mark all items of clothing clearly so it

Term 3 Staff Development Day Change

Our school in conjunction with the Cessnock Callaghan Principal networks have booked Dylan William

to present a session to teachers on Monday 19 August 2019. Professor William is a British

educationalist and Emeritus Professor of Educational assessment in the Institute of Education,

University of London. He is an internationally recognised leader in the development of formative

assessment. This professional development aims to:

- help schools fortify strategic formative assessment with teacher learning communities.

-research and develop innovative, highly effective programs.

-support enhanced student achievement.

To ensure the maximum number of school staff can gain from high quality professional learning on

offer on this day, a variation to the Term 3 School Development Day is needed. As a result, please note

that our school’s Staff Development Day for Term 3 has been changed from Monday 22 July to Monday

19 August. Students are required to attend school on Monday 22 July 2019 and NOT attend

school on Monday 19 August.

Upcoming Excursions

Students in all years will be participating in an extra curricula excursion during 2019. We have

outlined an approximate cost so families may begin to budget and make regular payments for these

excursions when they can. Permission notes will be sent home at a later date.

Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 students will be attending a show in Newcastle on 28 August with an

approximate cost of $20.

Year 3 and Year 4 will be attending an overnight excursion to Sydney on 7—8 November with an

approximate cost of $120.

Year 5 and Year 6 will be attending the Aussie Bush Camp from 4—6 September at an approximate

cost of $280.

* As always student assistance will be available by application for families who require it.

Earn & Learn at Woolworths

This is on again!! We are asking community members to slip

their Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheets into our posting

box outside Woolworth's Cessnock from 1st May to 25th June or

in the box we have located in the foyer at school. Look out for Kearsley Public Schools posting box. We

did so well last year. Let's do the same again. Last year we had a total of 15,800 stickers and purchased

lots of art and craft resources. Earn and Learn is sponsored by Modern Teaching Aids. The stickers you

collect for our school allow us to trade for educational resources such as maths equipment, musical

instruments, sporting gear, art and craft resources and much more (no cost to the school). All stickers

are collected, counted and the classroom teachers select what they want for their class.

Todd Woodbridge Cup

Selected students will be attending the Todd Woodbridge Cup– Tennis Gala Day at Maitland City

Tennis Club on Wednesday 3 July. Notes and cost of $3 are due back on Monday 24 June2019. Travel is

by private parent transport and students are to meet at school at 8am SHARP. Student will return by

approximately 3.30pm. Students will need to bring lunch, snacks and a water bottle. School uniform,

hat and running shoes will be required on the day.
