The General English courses cover all aspects of thelanguage and the main focus of the class is to improvethe student’s communication skills in English throughspeaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar,vocabulary and pronunciation. Our Young Adult Programme takes place at our city centrecampus during June, July and August and is specifically aimed atyoung adults aged 16-18 years old. The programme offers 20 or25 hours of tuition per week in mixed nationality classes withstudents of a similar age, host family accommodation and a fullprogramme of activities and excursions which are optional andsuited to students of this age group.This programme is suitable for young adults who do not wish to takepart in a Junior Course and would like to experience a city centrecollege with like-minded students of a similar age.

Students can choose to do an IELTS exam preparation course if theyrequire a recognised English language qualification for theiruniversity or place of work. We provide a four week course whichconsists of 20 hours of General English & 5 hours of IELTSpreparation per week. The course is designed to provide studentswith the techniques needed to be successful in the exam. The examtakes place at a nearby exam centre.

This course offers non-native secondary school teachers ofEnglish the opportunity to refresh their English language skillswhile at the same time explore new methodologies and differentapproaches to teaching English. The course consists of lectures,workshops and communicative sessions and is ideal for teacherswho wish to take home lots of practical ideas and activities to usewith their own students. This course is recognised for fundingunder the Erasmus scheme.

The CELTA is the most widely recognised initial Englishlanguage teaching certificate in the world and opensdoors to English language teaching jobs in qualitylanguage schools in Ireland and around the world. Weoffer full-time 4 week courses every month as well as anonline CELTA course.

The Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults(DELTA) course is a further qualification for teacherswho already have a CELTA or equivalent and who wishto move to a more senior role, perhaps in academicmanagement or teacher training. We offer both full andpart-time DELTA course options.

HoSt famIly accommoDatIon

Our local host families live in the suburbs of thecity. Host families can be reached by publictransport and the normal daily commute isbetween 30-50 minutes by bus/tram. Familiescan be traditional families with children, youngcouples with no children, single-parent familiesor retired couples whose children have lefthome.

All of our host families are carefully selected byIH Dublin and are regularly visited by ourAccommodation Officer to ensure quality.Students will have a single room in the houseand will have breakfast and dinner with the hostfamily during the week, will full-board onweekends.

Self-caterIng StuDIoaPartmentS

Our studio apartments are located in Ranelagh, alively residential area just south of Dublin citycentre which is 10 minutes by tram or 30 minuteswalking from the school. Single, twin and doublestudios are available, all with private bathrooms,kitchen and living areas. There is a laundry roomavailable in the building and bed linen and towelsare provided. There is internet connection and aTV in every apartment.

Self-caterIng SHareDaPartmentS

Our self-catering shared apartments are 20minutes walk from the school. Each apartmenthas 4 or 6 bedrooms, a common living area withTV and a fully equipped kitchen. Each apartmenthas 2 bathrooms. Bed linen is provided for eachstudent but they should bring their own towels.

Hotel/HoStel accommoDatIon

Hotel, Hostel, and Bed & Breakfastaccommodation is available through-out the yearin Dublin. Hostels are the most economicalalternative to homestay or residentialaccommodation with prices ranging from €20-€30 per night. Hotel costs vary and a quotation isavailable on request.

1 mInImum age: Minimum age for our Adult School is 17, except during June, July & August when the minimum age is 16.

2 claSSeS: Each class lasts 60 minutes.

3 feeS: Fees include tuition, welcome pack, student information handbook, wi-fi, use of computers, placement test and end of course certificate. Fees do not include exam fees, lunch, private insurance and bank charges.A registration charge of €55 is applicable on all courses.All students must pay €30 for their course book which is included in the first invoice.

4 aIrPort tranSferS: We can arrange for you to be met at Dublin Airport and taken to your accommodation. The cost of this service is €75 and the service is available between 08.00-22.00. Transfers outside of these hours are available at a supplemental charge of €30.

5 IH DublIn calenDar: The school will be closed on the following public holidays:- Christmas Holidays 2014: 20th Dec 2014 - 4th Jan 2015- Christmas Holidays 2015: 19th Dec 2015 - 3rd Jan 2016- St. Patrick’s Day - Tuesday 17th March- Easter Monday - Monday 6th April

No classes will be held on these days, there is no reduction in fees when a course includes a public holiday and classes are not compensated for.

There is an Orientation Day on the following public holidays,including testing and a tour of the city centre, commencing at 11am:- May Bank Holiday – Monday 4th May- June Bank Holiday – Monday 1st June- August Bank Holiday – Monday 3rd August- October Bank Holiday – Monday 26th October

6 accommoDatIon: All accommodation bookings made with IH Dublin are subject to an accommodation booking fee of €55.

- Homestay accommodation is based on a 7 night stay beginning from Saturday or Sunday

- Options include half-board Monday-Friday and full board at weekends OR breakfast only

- Located in suburbs of Dublin with average public transport commute of 30-50 minutes (which can vary at peak times)

- There is a supplement of €50 per week for students who require a specialist coeliac diet

- Self-catering apartment accommodation is based on a 7 night stay arriving and departing on Sunday only

- Self-catering with no meals included

Accommodation during Christmas- Students can stay with their host families (where the family

has agreed) for an extra cost of €50 per week- Students can stay in the self-catering apartments at no extra charge

7. InSurance: All students are advised to take out private medical and travel insurance, which is available to purchase from IH Dublin (see pricelist). EU citizens should travel to Dublin with their European Health Insurance Card (E111) to cover public medical care.

8. vISaS: Non-EU citizens should contact their local Irish Embassy or visit the Immigration Service website www.inis.gov.ie for visa requirements.

10. cancellatIon PolIcy- If a course is cancelled more than 14 days before the course

start date, the registration fee of €55 will be charged.- If a course is cancelled fewer than 14 days before the course

start date, one week’s tuition will be charged.- If host family accommodation is cancelled fewer than 14 days

before arrival date, one week’s accommodation will be charged.- If self-catering accommodation is cancelled fewer than 4

weeks before arrival date, one week’s accommodation will be charged.

- If a cancellation occurs because of a visa refusal, the registration fee of €55 will be charged. In this case, the refund of the fees will be processed when the official letter of refusal from Immigration is sent to IH Dublin.

- Please note that all cancellations must be submitted in writing by letter or email to IH Dublin.

11. refunDS: No refunds can be made after a course has started. In the case of illness, students may ask for their course to be postponed to a later date. In this case, the school will require a medical certificate. A course cannot be carried over to the next calendar year. All courses are non-transferrable.
