    Learing made easy

    Siebel, the user is provided with the facility to create one or more addresses for a partner.The user can also browse through the existing addresses and add them to the partner. It also

    provides the facility to have multiple partner records with the same address. A m:mrelationship exists between the partners and the addresses.

    Similarly, in MS CRM, the user is provided with the facility to create one or more addresses

    for a partner. However, the user will not be allowed to include existing addresses to a partner

    record. A 1:m relationship exists between the partners and the addresses.

    1.1.1.Database Tables

    In Siebel, Accounts and Partners are separate business components. They are OOB

    features. The account and partner records are stored in the same database table. The records

    are differentiated by a variable flag on the record level.

    However, in MS CRM, Accounts is an OOB business entity, whereas Partners is not. Thesystem offers two solutions to provide the functionality of Partners:

    A user can create Partners as a new business entity and thereby store the Partnerrecords in a separate table. Since a new database table is automatically createdwhen a new business entity is created.

    The user can maintain both the Accounts and the Partner records in the same database

    table. The UI screens can be shared with a small manipulation in the labels of thefield names that appear on the screen.

    1.2. Contacts

    Contact represents the person with whom Microsoft has a relationship for example a customer

    or a supplier. Contacts include information like contact details, personal information andmultiple addresses.

    This business entity contains the contact details of the various persons for an account. A total

    of 40 business functionalities were identified for comparison in the current Siebel application.

    A comparison matrix was also generated to facilitate the easy identification of the keyfunctions that have to be customized.

    1.2.1.Toggle Facility between the List View and the Form View for the Service

    Request Applet

    In Siebel, a toggle facility is provided to the user between the List View and Form View of the

    Contact Business Entity for entering the Service Request. This is an OOB toggle feature.

    However, in MS CRM this does not exist. It has to be customized based on the requirements.

    1.3. Activities

    This business entity refers to features like Task, Fax, Phone Calls, E-mails, Letter,

    Appointment, Service Activity, Campaign Responses etc. These activities are associated withother entities like Accounts, Opportunity, Contact, Case or Service Request etc.

    A total of 30 business functionalities were identified for comparison in the current Siebel

    application. A comparison matrix was also generated to facilitate the easy identification of thekey functions that have to be customized.

    1.3.1.Assigning Accounts and contacts to activity

    In Siebel, a user who creates an activity record can assign an account to it. Similarly, one ormore contacts can also be assigned to the activity record. The same activity record can haveboth accounts and contacts assigned to it. All these are OOB features.

    In MS CRM also, a user who creates an activity record can assign an account to it. Similarly,

    a contact can also be assigned to the activity record. Both these are OOB features. However,

    the activity record can have only one customer i.e. either an account or a contact assigned toit. .

    1.3.2.Assigning Employees to an activity

    In Siebel, a user can assign multiple employees to a single activity. This is an OOB feature.

    In MS CRM, a user cannot share an activity with multiple employees. However, this is anexception for Service Activity activity type.

    1.4. Campaigns

    A total of 26 business functionalities for this entity were identified for comparison in thecurrent Siebel application. A comparison matrix was also generated to facilitate the easy

    identification of the key functions that have to be customized.

    1.4.1.Associate a Campaign with Multiple Subsidiaries

    In Siebel, a user can associate a campaign to multiple subsidiaries through the subsidiary

    field. This field allows the user to associate multiple organizations to a campaign.

    In MS CRM, this facility is currently not available. Campaigns can be created for only the

    owners organization.

    1.5.

    Opportunities

    Opportunity represents the chance to sell to a qualified customer. This is used to keep track

    of each sales engagement in which they are currently working.

    1.5.1.Assign Opportunity to a team

    In Siebel, when a user creates an opportunity record, it is automatically assigned to the

    Opportunity team also. The team members can view and modify the details of the record. Theuser is automatically designated as the owner of the record.
