They are becoming the go-to agency in Broward and Palm Beach Counties, thanks to exceptional client satisfaction. Owner JoJo Massimiani said, “We offer non-medical companionship and caregiv- ing to seniors who need assistance but want to stay in their own homes and maintain their independence. We’ve also been answering the needs of seniors in as- sisted living facilities that aren’t getting the one-on- one service that we provide. We’re available short- and long-term, by the hour and live-in.” The company strives to stand out above the rest. She said, “We stand out in many ways. I personally do a free in-home assessment to fully understand the client’s specific needs in order to provide the best possible care and arrange for a caregiver who is a satisfactory match. I monitor and supervise on a regular basis to assure the client of continued quality care. I take great pride in my agency.” The other aspect of the business that is unique is the fact that the company’s caregivers are all employees of the company, rather than sub-contractors. “This is significant,” said Massimiani, “because we are accountable for our em- ployees. Our employees are all FBI background checked, bonded and insured with worker’s compensation.” Massimiani’s background is in hospitality and market- ing. She decided to get into this business when a family member became ill and she needed extra help. “That’s when I decided to do some research. I real- ized there was a real need for reliable, trustworthy and compassionate caregivers. I started this business to meet those needs,” she explained. “Our clients have been very pleased and many have referred our services to others. I’m very proud of that,” she said. One of these satisfied clients is Terri Frock, who needed some assistance for her mother and went to Lean On Me after seeing the ad in The Observer about 1 ½ years ago. Frock said, “I find the service to be outstanding. They are very dependable and accommodating and even work with pets. Also, whenever I need to speak to Jojo, I call her and get an immediate response. She is a great leader and it is a great organization.” Mrs. Joan Warburg, who comes to Deerfield from Connecticut for the season every year said, “I think JoJo does a great job. She’s very conscientious and runs a tight ship. She has picked two good caregivers for me. They do a little light housekeeping, cooking and laundry. They also drive me wherever I need to go.” When Jean Wilt’s husband had Alzheimer’s, she used Lean On Me to help her so that she could have time to run errands and go to church. She said, “David, who took care of my husband for two years, provided great com- panionship for him. If and when I find that I need some assistance, I will definitely call Lean On Me.” Furthermore, Massimiani said, “Our employees are also important to us; I wanted to create a good atmosphere for the caregivers, as well as the clients. My goal was to meet a need and create jobs. Our caregivers are men and women of all ages. They are very compassionate people who have often chosen this career based on personal experience. We take full responsibility for our care- givers and that gives peace of mind to the clients as well as their family members.” Ruth Hewitt and Susan Jones have been working for Lean On Me for years and are very pleased with their employer. They said, “Jojo is great and really cares about her caregivers. To make it more comfortable for the client and the caregiver, she always takes us to meet with the cli- ent in advance. She checks on us often to be sure the client and I are both happy.” Asked what she does for her current client, Ruth answered, “I prepare meals, grocery shop, do some daily cleaning and simply keep her company. I love what I do; it is so rewarding to see the difference we can make in someone’s life.” Some of the services Lean on Me provides in- clude: meal preparation, light housekeeping, compan- ionship, shopping, errands, transportation, medicine re- minders, pet care and more.
