Research SpotlightMany Americans struggle to maintain a healthy weight. Research shows that portion size is a key factor in controlling calorie intake.1 Studies show that providing liquid meal replacements and prepackaged foods are an eective strategy for achieving portion control and weight loss.2

A randomized controlled trial (N=158) took this a step further, comparing the eectiveness of commercially-available portion-controlled meals versus a standard self-selected diet (control) in overweight adults. All participants had weekly behavioral weight loss guidance and counseling.

Findings: Utilizing portion-controlled prepackaged meals at lunch and dinner as part of a behavioral weight loss counseling intervention for 12 weeks resulted in3:

• More weight and fat loss than a standard self-selected diet.

• Similar satisfaction with food compared to the self-selected diet.

• Increased confidence among participants that they could stick to the meal plan for long-term weight loss success.

Whether dining out or eating at home, portion distortion can be commonplace. LEAN CUISINE meals can be an ally in portioned eating and weight management. Here’s how LEAN CUISINE products can help your clients achieve their nutrition goals while feeling satisfied rather than limited.
