Our Business Ladder www.ourbusinessladder.com Leading Ladies of Entrepreneurship Post 1990’s we were able to see lot of budding female entrepreneurs around us. This is an irrefutable fact for which we can pat them on their backs. Earlier on, most of them usually had to focus on their domestic responsibilities, and they had no way out, and had yield to the dictates of their family and keep their mouths shut. However, even during that time, there were a few women who broke all conventional barriers and came out successful to conquer the highly competitive world. Now the presence of women entrepreneurs is a grudgingly accepted fact. Let us look at some of the most influential women entrepreneurs around the globe. Indra Nooyi: For every woman born in the subcontinent, her name is something to look up to, and the first thing that strikes their mind is the term “entrepreneurship”. Not coming from a very ordinary family in the state of Tamil Nadu, she is now renowned to be one of the most influential persons around the globe. She has risen from Product Manager of Johnson & Johnson to become the Chairperson and CEO of PepsiCo, the second largest soft drink firm in the world. She joined PepsiCo in 1994 and statistics prove that ever since she became the CFO in 2001, the profits of the firm have doubled, and sales has risen by 72%.Nooyi was considered one of "The TopGun CEOs" by Brendan Wood International, an advisory agency.

Leading Ladies of Entrepreneurship

Post 1990’s we were able to see lot of buddingfemale entrepreneurs around us. This is

an irrefutable fact for which we can pat them on their backs. Earlier on, most of them

usually had to focus on their domestic responsibilities, and they had no way out, and

had yield to the dictates of their family and keep their mouths shut.

However, even during that time, there were a few women who broke all conventional

barriers and came out successful to conquer the highly competitive world. Now the

presence of women entrepreneurs is a grudgingly accepted fact. Let us look at some of

the most influential women entrepreneurs around the globe.

Indra Nooyi:

For every woman born in the subcontinent, her name is something to look up to, and

the first thing that strikes their mind is the term “entrepreneurship”. Not coming from a

very ordinary family in the state of Tamil Nadu, she is now renowned to be one of the

most influential persons around the globe. She has risen from Product Manager of

Johnson & Johnson to become the Chairperson and CEO of PepsiCo, the second

largest soft drink firm in the world. She joined PepsiCo in 1994 and statistics prove that

ever since she became the CFO in 2001, the profits of the firm have doubled, and sales

has risen by 72%.Nooyi was considered one of "The TopGun CEOs" by Brendan Wood

Sara Blakely:

“Wonder Woman”, yes!! She is referred to as a wonder woman. Much to the justification

of the term, she has made a remarkable success of her life. It was her childhood dream

to become an attorney. But unfortunately for her, and fortunately for the world, she

failed to crack the admission exam of the Law School. You could only read in fairy tales,

about a woman going through the streets and selling fax machines knocking on every

door for seven years, and then turning into a global leader in entrepreneurship. While

selling those fax machines, she was forced to wear pantyhose in the hot Floridian

climate for her sales role, Blakeley disliked exposing the seamed foot while wearing

opentoed shoes.

While she attended a private party, she experimented by cutting off the feet of her                             pantyhose while wearing them under a new pair of slacks and found that the pantyhose                             continuously rolled up her legs, however, she was able to achieve the desired result.                           She wanted to get this idea patented, and later got it patented by herself as there were                                 no female patent attorneys at that time. In 2001, Blakely signed a contract with QVC,                             the home shopping channel and sold 8,000 pairs in the first six minutes of operation.                             And now, Sara Blakely has secured her spot as the world’s youngest selfmade female                           billionaire with a current net worth of $1 Billion.   Wu yajun:

A name not well known to the common folk, but still an inspiring and a legendary female                                 entrepreneur. Wu Yajun is a Chinese business woman, cofounder, former CEO and                       current chairperson of Long for Properties. She is the third richest woman in China and                             the 22nd richest overall in the planet in 2013. She graduated from the Department of                             Navigation Engineering in 1984. She worked as a journalist and editor at the China                           Shirong News Agency. In 1995 Wu and her former husband founded Longfor                       Properties. The enterprise grew so rapidly that she became one of the most sought after                             figures in China.
