A Covid screening checklist must be submitted at registration. In addition, units are responsible for completing daily Covid screening of all members. Tent Policy• Flames of any kind may not be used in tents or structures• Each unit is responsible for bringing their tents AND clearly posting a "No Flames in Tent" sign.• Fire safety and privacy concerns require tents be erected ten feet apart.• National policy requires that each camper have a minimum of thirty square feet of sheltered space for

sleeping and storing personal gear.• All tents used in camp must meet or exceed fire retardant standards (CPAI-84).

CPAP MachinesPlan on bringing a battery to power your CPAP machine. Camp will provide an area to charge batteries, but we currently do not offer electricity in all campsites.

Fireguard ChartsUnits must post a completed fireguard chart on their campsite bulletin board. The procedures should be reviewed daily to help prevent unit campsite emergencies. Ed Bryant Scout Reservation Staff will conduct an emergency drill during the week, and it is suggested that units conduct their own campsite emergency drill.

Shower FacilitiesEd Bryant Scout Reservation features a shower house with eight private, modern restrooms with a shower and changing area. During the summer camp season, these are available for use around the clock. Adult leaders have access to showers and restrooms located in the ‘Four Seasons’ annex of Fellowship Hall AND in the Program Center building.

The HEART of summercamp is your campsite. This is your home for the week and we encourage you to make yourselves at home. Below are some rules and guidelines to keep in mind.

Ed Bryant will provide, in your site::Rake, shovel, 5-gal fire buckets, bulletin board, (2) flagpoles, latrine, trash can, water source, fire pit

The following items are available by requestDutch ovens, garbage bags, toilet paper, soap, paper towel, cooking pots, firewood (for sale in trading post), ice containers, and charcoal

CampfiresFires may be built in established fire rings. In the event of extreme dry weather, the camp may be under a restricted fire plan. The Camp Director will inform units of limitations. All fires must be attended and be extinguished before leaving the campsite. Do not scatter charred wood, cool Ash and grey powder can be scattered in the woods outside of the campsite.

Vehicles and TrailersUpon arrival, your group can drive as many cars as needed to your site to unload. We ask that you combine into as few cars as possible for the safety of all Scouts. All vehicles must be returned to the parking lot by dinner on Sunday. Those with accessibility or mobility issues may request a handicap permit from the Camp Director at Check-In. Unit trailers may be kept in the campsite in the designated area. However, please ensure the vehicle pulling the trailer is returned to the parking lot on SUNDAY.

FOOD! One of the many reasons people return to Ed Bryant! Our camp gives you the choice in food service, all meals in the dining hall OR an opportunity to cook half your meals in the comfort of your campsite!

Dining HallService in the Dining Hall is Family Style. Food is delivered to tables in bulk portions and passed around your table. The tables in Fellowship Hall comfortably seat eight people. Units gather outside Fellowship Hall prior to meals. Please be sure that each camper washes their hands before going in for meals. With so many diners, sanitation measures are a must.

We ask 1 Scout per table report 10-minutes before the meal to setup and serve their table’s food, as well as 1 Scout per table stay after the meal to clean up. Small troops (who many only have 1 table) should utilize the buddy system and have 2 Scouts prepare and clean up meals. Remember, for some Scouts, this may be their first time they cleared dishes or cleaned a table, they may need some guidance! Table assignments and full dining hall procedures are provided and reviewed during check-in.

Patrol CookingWorking together as a team, patrol members share the responsibility for the patrol’s success. In this case, the success is a well fed group, stronger patrol spirit, and teamwork. Units who wish to utilize patrol s must elect this during online registration. Eight meals are prepared by units that choose patrol method cooking. Menus along with cooking instructions are provided the week prior to your arrival at camp.

All lunches throughout the week are Camp-Wide and served in Fellowship Hall. This is a time for announcements and Dining Entertainment. Lunch is served at 12:15pm. In addition to lunches, Sunday. Thursday, and Friday Dinners are camp-wide and served in Fellowship Hall. Saturday Breakfast is "to-go", and will be delivered to your campsite!

AllergiesThose with medical dietary restrictions or food allergies should communicate those directly to [email protected] 2 weeks in advance to your stay at camp. We will accommodate you as best as we can, accommodations are not guaranteed if commucommunicated with less than 2 weeks notice.

Dietary ChoicesThose who would prefer a gluten free, vegetarian, or vegan meal option should communicate that preference to [email protected] 2 weeks in advance to your stay at camp. An alternate menu .

Merit Badge Schedule and Open ProgramOur merit badge program is an "open program", meaning Scouts do not sign up for merit badge classes ahead of time. Scouts drop in and out of program areas and work on merit badges at their own pace. This unique approach allows the Scout to build their own adventure, gives them the opportunity to mix fun activi-ties with the merit badge programs, and introduces many to time management.

Immediately following Sunday Dinner, Scouts take part in the Sunday Midway, a program fair where staff from each program area are available to discuss the great programs they offer. Scouts are offered a scheduling card showing available times throughout the week. Scouts wander around the fair to learn about all the opportunities with a goal of creating a plan of activities and merit badges for the week. Area merit badge counselors coach Scouts on how much time/dedication each badge requires.

Before attending the Sunday Midway, it’s a great idea for each Scout to come up with 3 - 4 goals for their week. This will help them build an awesome week.

Please note that some merit badges have scheduled program times to allow for adequate instruction.

Further information on program area opportunities are outlined in the following pages.

Merit Badge Level SystemEach merit badge offered is ranked from Level 1 to 3. This system is designed to help Scouts and Scout Leaders develop their schedule with age appropriate activities.

Level 1 badges great for 1st year Campers of any age, and typically can be completed in 2-3 hours.Level 2 badges great for 2nd and 3rd year campers, typically few to no pre-requisites, and take 3-4

hours to completeLevel 3 badges are difficult badges that have pre-requisites and typically take 4 or more hours to

complete. Please keep in mind that this system is merely a guide, not a hard and fast rule.

Merit Badge Pre-Camp WorkReview the merit badge pre-requisites with Scouts prior to attending camp. Some badges cannot be earned at camp unless long-term projects or activities are completed prior to arriving. A written statement of satisfaction regarding pre-requisite requirements allow a Scout to complete the merit badge at summer camp.

It is up to the individual Scout to check the requirements to see if a prerequisite is needed for completion. Typically, prerequisites include written requirements or required readings. Each Scout should have their own merit badge pamphlet prior to coming to camp, however additional copies are sold in the Trading Post.

A complete list of prerequisites is posted at glaciersedgecamps.com

Brotherhood CandidatesThursday, 7:00 p.m.Meet @ Flagpole

Ordeal Candidates and OA MembersThursday, 8:30 p.m.Meet @ Flagpole

Ordeal Candidates start the induction process. All other Arrowmen hike together to the Bigfoot Lodge Fire Bowl for ceremonies.

The ProcessElected members are recognized in the Call Out Ceremony Wednesday night. After this ceremony, Bigfoot Lodge ordeal candidates start their ordeal immediately following the ceremony, concluding with an OA reception late Thursday night. Ordeal participants will return to their units following the reception. Any member of any Lodge and interested adults may attend the ceremony and reception. We also offer Brotherhood completion for Bigfoot Lodge members.

National PoliciesCandidates from any lodge may participate in Wednesday’s Call Out Ceremony. However, candidates must complete their ordeal and brotherhood in their own Council’s lodge. For Scouts outside of Glacier’s Edge to be called out, written permission from your home lodge must be sent via email to [email protected] by June 1st.

Becoming A CandidateThe Ordeal is an experience that instills the values of service, self-denial, self-reliance, and reflection. To preserve the experience for their peers, many Scouts choose not to tell other Scouts what happens during the ordeal process. Our Lodge Advisers are happy to explain the program to parents and leaders. Upon completion of the ordeal, the Scout becomes a member of the OA, and is given the distinctive white and red arrow sash and lodge flap.Members continue to improve on their skills as Arrowmen by participating in service to Scouting and their communities. After ten months, Arrowman can seal their membership in the Brotherhood and obtain a new Sash that has two bars surrounding the Arrow.
