Clare Local Development Strategy

The following were identified as hard to reach and more likely to need support and services:

- Parents of young children;

- Isolated older people;

- Carers;

- Young people;,

- Unemployed;

- Low income farmers;

- People with poor mental health;

- People with disabilities;

- People with alcohol misuse issues.

How do we hope to achieve this?

Reflections on LEADER Programme to date

- What is our role as development professionals as agents for societal change

- LEADER methodology as an approach to community development

- Pool of professional, talented, qualified, experienced DOs in LDCs around the Country / around the EU

- Opportunity: TELI2 LIT – CPD as a potential cooperation project. Professionalisation of LEADER approach.

- Questions: The role of Article 48 checks and community development and social inclusion

- Timing: Programme is mid way point, forecasting for the remainder of this and for next programme

- Place for collaboration with other programmes and funders

- Identity of LDCs as part of more global discussion around rural development / strong brand that is LEADER in context of smarter communities concept.

- CLLD can be applied to other funding programmes.
