Planning Professional Learning
In your table group, use the “Text Rendering Experience” protocol to examine the Guskey article on “Planning for Professional Learning”
• Choose a facilitator• Choose a scribe (record electronically)

Consultancy
Step 1: Presenting teacher shares dilemma (3 min) The presenting teacher discusses their plan and
dilemma without interruption. The partner teachers listen in and jot down notes, possible clarifying questions or questions that might promote further thinking.
Step 2: Clarifying Questions (3 min) Partner teachers have 2-3 minutes to ask clarifying
questions. The presenting teacher responds succinctly.

Consultancy
Step 3: Reflection and Analysis (4 min) The partner teachers have a “fishbowl” conversation
among themselves discussing what they heard. Questions, musings, and suggestions that might extend the presenting teacher’s thinking and are voiced
Step 4: Joint conversation (5 min) The group engages in a two-way conversation to
discuss the feedback, share reactions and insights and reflect on possible refinements.
