Transcript of Lead Project
AIESEC PRESUNIV2013
Dear Leaders,
Salam Sejahtera!
On behalf of AIESEC President University and LEAD Organizing Committee, I would like to say that I am very delighted to have all of you here. Exchange participants basically are people who go out of their country to exchange their culture. However, in AIESEC, the meaning of Exchange Participant has a wider range. They are the people who have a willingness to change the world, develop people, and empower others. They dare to face a life-changing experience, with a vision to be a true global leader. And they are YOU.
The aim of this project is to develop teenagers to be ready to become the genuine global leaders. Exchange itself has become a tool in AIESEC to improve youth leadership through exchange experience. With this project, I do hope that not only the Exchange Participants who will get that experience, but also the teenagers who will be involved here.
Last, I want to say that I am confident that with your support, this project will run successfully and give a great change for the teenagers, the Exchange Participants and also the committee. Finally, I hope that you will enjoy all your in Indonesia.
Selamat Datang to Indonesia!
Warm regards,
Febru Aulia RamadhaniLEAD Organizing Committee President
In the most basic way of defining, a leader is a person who leads other.
But what makes someone a leader? Leadership itself can be described
differently. One of the most famous definition of leadership is “a process of social
influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others”.
That is, to become a leader, is not always about managing and organizing a team,
but we must learn to help, support, and develop other.
Teenagers are the future leaders, they are the generation who needs to know about
leadership, how to implement it into their life, and how to givean impact to the society.
However, teenagers are not aware of their potential to become leaders, or do not know
about the leadership and lack of knowledge about leadership.
One of the knowledge that young leaders need to know is also that the obstacle to
become leaders nowadays is cross-cultural leadership, leading people from different
backgrounds and cultures. Future leaders must learn how to become leaders in a global
world.
Realizing the need to improve youth leadership, especially in Indonesia,
we want to start to develop leadership skills and knowledge of youth around us.
As the biggest global youth organization which is AIESEC, we are planning to run a
PboX (Project Based on Exchange) entitled LEAD, that will hopefully fulfill the youth
need of leadership knowledge and skills.
Background
The purposes of creating this project are to:
1. Fulfilling teenagers need of leadership knowledge and skills.
2. Make teenagers realize their leadership potential.
3. Preparing teenagers to be global leaders that need to face cultural differences.
4. Preparing teenagers to be the leaders that can develop others.
5. Share experiences and knowledge about leadership between the teenagers
and the Exchange Participants.
6. Develop the society around President University.
7. Introduce teenagers to the global world and global culture through interacting
with the global people.
8. Introducing the Exchange participants Indonesia’s cultures, Indonesian people,
and their behavior
