Mr. McArdle’s Weekly Update - 5/4/18
The Monsters Are on the Move! One of our goals each year is to find different ways to connect
with our Wolcott Street School friends to build community. It
is exciting to see the many ways our staff creates opportunities
for this to be accomplished. One of the ongoing projects has
been an effort between our 2nd and 7th graders. The 2nd grade
art students each draw a 2D creative monster on paper in Ms.
Skyer’s class. Those drawings are then sent over to Ms. Castro
whose 7th grade art students use their skills and creative to
bring to life through the use of paper maché and vibrant paint.
The end product is literally a carbon copy of the 2D drawing! This year, with the support of our
Instructional Technology Coach, Mrs. Bertrand, we took the project to another level by bringing in Mr.
Knisley’s 8th grade English students who created a writing piece to go along with each of the 2D
drawings. So in the end this collaborative project brought together three grade levels, close to 300
students, and four staff members! You can see all the final products on May 15th at the Wolcott Street
School Fine Arts Festival in their Media Center, the same location of the annual School Budget Vote
which runs from 8am-8pm. A HUGE thanks to our staff and students involved in this fun and creative
project!

Mr. McArdle’s Weekly Update - 5/4/18
O Romeo! Tuesday our freshmen and sophomores had the pleasure
of attending an assembly in our auditorium to see the
Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre present Romeo &
Juliet. This traveling theater group engaged our students
in a great production and also interacted with them after
the show with Q&A. Big thanks to Mrs. Brotherton for
coordinating this opportunity for our students and
bringing the pages to life on our stage.
Freshly Wrapped! When the Marching Knights head on the road this
season, everyone will know! Director Mr. Nordhausen
recently unveiled our freshly wrapped equipment trailer
parked on campus on the west side of our building! The
trailer will travel with the band and store everything for
our Marching Knights. Everyone is excited for this new
look and it definitely will pop on the road representing
our school community. Thanks to Mr. Nordhausen for
his vision!
