That means when your child signals for more food, they are displaying their understanding of math. Children develop math concepts and skills very early in life. From the moment they are born, babies begin to form ideas about math through everyday experiences and through interactions with trusted adults. We can make the math that occurs in daily life visible to children through math talk. Each day offers us countless opportunities to help children deepen their understanding of math concepts. Some math concepts that can be learned are: Numbers and measurement Shapes and spatial relationships Understanding change over time Classifying and sorting BANANA BREAD RECIPE Ingredients: 2-3 ripe banana ¾ cup sugar 1/3 cup melted butter 1 large egg, beaten 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp vanilla extract Pinch of salt 1 ½ cup of flour Directions: 1. Preheat the oven to 350F and butter a 4x8 inch loaf pan 2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with fork until smooth. Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas. 3. Mix the baking soda and salt. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Mix in the flour. 4. Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour at 350F or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. 5. Remove from oven and let it cool. Slice and serve! HOME MADE PIZZA
Ingredients:
English muffins or sub rolls Shredded mozzarella cheese
Pizza or spaghetti sauce Your favorite pizza toppings
Materials:
Baking Sheet Spoon Butter Knife
Directions:
1. Preheat oven or toaster over to 375F. 2. Use butter knife to cut English muffin (or sub
rolls) in half and place the muffins cut side up on a baking sheet.
3. Spread two spoons of pizza or spaghetti sauce onto each of the muffins
4. Top each muffin with cheese and your favorite pizza toppings.
5. Bake for 10 minutes in preheated oven or until the cheese is melted and browned on the edge

NUMBERS
Number Tray
First, create number cards (0-9) and tape them on to the tray. Add objects around the number cards that corresponds with the number. Have them count with you!
MATH CONCEPTS
Numbers and Operations: understanding the concept of number, quantity, order, ways of representing numbers, one-to-one correspondence, and counting.
Shapes and Spatial Relationships (Geometry): recognizing and naming shapes, understanding the physical relationship between yourself and other objects and the relationships between objects.
Measurement: size, weight, quantity, volume, and time.
Patterns, Relationships, and Change: recognizing and/or creating repetitions of objects, events, colors, lines, textures, and sounds; understanding that things change over time, and that change can be described with math words.
Collecting and Organizing Information: gathering, sorting, classifying, and analyzing information (data) to help make sense of what is happening in the environment.
Stacking and Counting
Use blocks, nesting cups, or anything stackable. Count the objects as you stack them on top of each other!
Measuring Bring out the water table! Add measuring cups and or different size containers and cups. Let children pour the water into the different sized cups and containers.

Tupperware Lid Matching
Bring out your plastic Tupperware! Ask your child to try to match the lid to the correct container.
Color Sorting
Get different colored buckets and have your child sort their toys by color.
Colored Spaghetti
Ingredients: spaghetti, oil, drops of food coloring
Directions:
1. Cook the spaghetti. 2. Add a few tablespoons of the oil (enough to
coat). 3. Add a few drops of food coloring and mix well. 4. Let the spaghetti dry (an hour or so). 5. Place into a large container and have the child
sort the spaghetti by color.
Shapes
Playdough
Bring out the playdough and cookie cutters. Make and name different shapes with your child.
Bean Bag Toss
Use chalk or tape to make shape outlines on the floor. Have your child throw the bean bag in the shape outlines. When the bean bag goes inside the shape, name the shape. Count the bean bags your child threw into each shape.

“Look, you got two bean bags inside the circle.”

MATEMATICAS ESTAN EN TODAS PARTES
¿Sabía que uno de los primeros conceptos mathemáticos que entienden los niños es “más”? Eso significa que cuando su hijo le pide más comida, esta mostrando su comprensión de las matematicas. Los ninos desarrollan conceptos y habilidades matematicas muy temprano en la vida. Desde el momento en que nacen, los bebés comienzan a formar ideas sobre matemáticas a través de experiencias cotidianas y a través de interacciones con adultos confiables. Podemos hacer que las matematicas que ocurren en la vida diaria sean visibles para los ninos a través de conversación matemática. RECETA DE PAN DE PLATANO
Ingredientes:
2-3 platano maduro ¾ taza de azucar 1/3 taza de matequilla 1 Huevo 1 tsp bicarbonanto 1 tsp vainilla Un Poco de sal 1 ½ taza de arina
Directions:
1. Precaliente el horno a 350F y ponga mantequilla en un molde para pan de 4x8 pulgadas
2. En un tazón, triture los plátanos maduros con un tenedor hasta que estén suaves. Revuelva la mantequilla derretida en el puré de plátanos
3. Mezclar el bicarbonato de sodio y la sal. Agregue el azúcar, el huevo batido y el extracto de vainilla. Mezclar en la harina.
4. Vierte la masa en el molde para pan preparado. Hornee durante 50 minutos a 1 hora a 350F o hasta que un palillo insertado en el medio salga limpio.
5. Retirar del horno y dejar enfriar. Cortar y servir!

PIZZA HECHA EN CASA
Ingredientes:
Magadalenas inglesas o sub rolls Qeso mozerella
Salsa de pizza Coberturas de pizza 1. Precaliente el horno a 375.F 2. Use un cuchillo de mantequilla para cortar el
panecillo inglés (o sub rollos) por la mitad y coloque los panecillos con el lado cortado hacia arriba en una bandeja para hornear.
3. Extienda dos cucharadas de pizza o salsa de espagueti en cada uno de los panecillos.
4. Cubra cada panecillo con queso y sus ingredientes de pizza favoritos.
5. Hornee por 10 minutos en horno precalentado o hasta que el queso se derrita y se dore en el borde
