Lazy Granite = Granite

• Marble – Softer and stains easier

• Travertine – Softer than marble and porous

• Quartz – Very hard man made material from recycled glass and stone usually. Corian & Silestone are brand names of different quartz. It’s very expensive.

Formica Countertops

• Particle board with a plastic on top of it

• Can burn, scratch relatively easily

• Not as aesthetically appealing

• Some customers will install Lazy Granite on top of it

Lazy Granite Installation

• ½” Plywood

• ¼” Cement Board

Or

¾” waterproofed plywood

• Cement board prevents mold and swelling in case water goes beneath the stone

• Wonderboard, Hardyboard are just brand names of cement board

How do glue the tiles down?

• Thinset Mortar – recommended method

• Tile mats – basically double sided tape

• Glues – we don’t recommend it

What goes in between tiles?

• Silicone – Can be cut with knife

• Grout – Recommended method

• Epoxy Grout – great but harder to install

Sealing Stone

• Stone will stain if not sealed

• Acid will eat through sealers

• Wax on, wax off

Broken Tiles

• Everyone is warned they should order extra

• If a tile is chipped / broken you can still cut off the broken side and utilize the piece
