IF THE UTE HAS A UTELINER: The Lazerback should be compatible with most brands of Ute liners. The hinges must always be fitted first, directly onto the vehicle body. The hinges must never be fitted over the Ute liner. The Ute liner might need to be cut out so that it fits around the hinge bracket, some model Ute liners might fit better with the section across the front (between and to the sides of the hinge) removed. 1. Centre the female hinge bracket on the front of the tray. Drill 3 holes using the 3 predrilled holes on the female bracket hinge as templates, then attach with the 3 self-drilling screws supplied. Do not over tighten screws, as the body can be fairly thin on some models. Drill 3 holes at each end of the bracket hinge, one in each of the slots provided. Attach with the remaining 6 self drilling screws. 2. We recommend that you now remove the hinge bracket so that you can clean away any swarf, or metal filings. Apply a bead of silicon to the underside of the hinge bracket and the 3 holes that you have drilled to prevent water seepage, and then refit the hinge bracket. 3. Apply the foam sealing tape to the front sill, cutting it either side of the hinges and continue, finishing at the cars edge. Ensure that where the foam tape meets the hinge and the edge that you have a good tight join. Apply foam tape to the top of the hinges. Apply a bead of silicon between the joins in the foam tape to ensure a waterproof seal. Note: If installing in cold weather the foam tape may need be heated to assist adhesion. 4. Locate and remove the star head screw, which is above the middle of the wheel arch. Using the factory hole as a central guide, attach the Gas strut Bracket using 22mm Tek Screws with 5mm spring washers. See Figure 1 The gas strut’s cylinder must face towards the brackets on the Lazerback. Repeat the same procedure on the other side of the vehicle.

Before fitting Ensure that your Lazerback fitting kit is complete and your keys open the new lock. Please read fitting instructions carefully and completely before attempting to fit your new lid. If any parts are missing, do not return product to place o f purchase. Instead, call our toll free customer care line on 1800 656 820 for replacement parts within two working days. IF THE UTE HAS A UTELINER : The Lazerback should be compatible with most brands of Ute liners.

Drill 3 holes using the 3 predrilled holes on the

female bracket hinge as templates, then attach with the 3 self-drilling screws supplied. Do not over tighten screws, as the body can be fairly thin on some models. Drill 3 holes at each end of the bracket hinge, one in each of the slots provided. Attach with the remaining 6 self drilling screws.

2. We recommend that you now remove the hinge brack et so that you can clean away any swarf,

or metal filings. Apply a bead of silicon to the un derside of the hinge bracket and the 3 holes that you have drilled to prevent water seepage, and then refit the hinge bracket.

Note: If installing in cold weather the foam tape m ay need be heated to assist adhesion.

5. Take the Lazerback and carefully lift vertically and insert hinge tongues on the lid into hinge slots on the

vehicle. Carefully lower the lid, ensuring that the tongues are fully inserted into the slots. Attach the cylinder end of the gas struts onto the brackets on the lid. Important , now attach the key ring to the small hole at the end of the male hinge. This prevents accidental release. The gas struts may be removed at any time by inserting a small screwdriver under the metal spring clip on the gas strut end and gently easing it out. You can then pop the strut off the ball. Never completely remove the spring from the gas strut end. Remember , when removing and refitting your Lazerback ensure that the hinges are fully engaged to avoid damaging or bending them and the key rings are attached to each male hinge to avoid them releasing accidentally

6. Close the lid and check to see if the lid fits evenly around the side and the back. The Lazerback can be

adjusted forward and back by loosening the screws on the male hinges, and sliding the hinge back or forward. The screws are located under the flaps on the carpet adjacent to the hinges. Retighten the screws after adjustment.

7. To fit the locking brackets take out the last star screw on the top rails (both sides). Install a medium

locking bracket onto each hole reusing the star screws, allowing for adjustment up or down. For the tailgate locking bracket take out the middle screw at the rear top of tailgate found behind the plastic plug. Replace the middle screw with the tailgate locking bracket, pan head screw, and washer. You will need to adjust the locking brackets to the right height so the lock cam arm fits snugly under the locking brackets. To adjust the side locking brackets just close the lid with the tailgate down so you can watch the locking action. See Figure 2. You might need to cut the locking rods to the correct length. To do this you need to have the lock in the unlocked position, mark and cut the bars to fit just inside the locking brackets. Close the tailgate and check to see if the lid locks correctly. When correctly adjusted you might need to apply slight pressure to the lid in order to operate the key.

8. Your vehicle should now look fantastic with its new Lazerback fitted. Remember when removing and

refitting your Lazerback ensure that the hinges are fully engaged to avoid damaging or bending them.

NEVER DRIVE WITH THE LID OPEN OR IN AN UNLOCKED POS ITION
