Our MissionTo create a caring and socially

responsible society where animals are treated as sentient beings.

Our VisionA world where animals are treated

with compassion and respect.

Liberia has suffered years of exceptionally violent and traumatic civil war. The country is

just recovering amidst an almost overwhelming number of challenges including rampant abuse of animals.

LAWCS is committed to the recovery with a clear message of non-violence, conservation of nature and promotion of the well-being of

animals, humans and the environment.

Page 5: Lawcs presentation at the conference

LAWCS demonstrates this commitment by actively engaging

children, youths, community groups, learning institutions, media and

community leaders with its humane education programmes and by

providing veterinary services for animals in need.

Our aim is to continue to raise public awareness in Liberia about the

welfare of animals. Education is the key to ending animal cruelty and

creating a better future for animals and humans. Our interactive

programmes take place in schools and education centers and reach

over 15,000 children per year.

These equip children with knowledge about animals and they promote positive attitudes, build

empathy, foster responsible behavior and inspire them to make a

difference. We are ensuring that today’s children grow up with

empathy and respect for all animals and each other.

Humane Education is about fostering kindness, respect and

empathy for animals, people and the environment and recognizing the interdependence of all living

things.

Page 14: Lawcs presentation at the conference

We continue to encourage people to stop the unnecessary

pain, suffering, loneliness, sadness, and death, even

extinction we causing for other living creatures.

Page 15: Lawcs presentation at the conference

Coexisting compassionately with animals will make us better

human beings and make our lives easier. Compassion can lead to

justice for all.

Page 16: Lawcs presentation at the conference

Cruelty is also a threat to peace and stability. When people do not value the lives of other creatures, they stop valuing one another’s life. For whatever happens to

animals, soon happens to human.

All things are connected. There is a clear link established between cruelty to animals and violence

against humans (http://www.latham.org/research-and-resources/latham-letter-articles/?subject=30

).

“Love animals … Do not trouble their joy, do not harass them, do

not deprive them of their happiness, do not work against

God’s intent”. Fyodor Dostoyevsky – Russian writer
