SAFETY INFORMATION

Important! Read carefully & keep for futurereference.

The safety of Your appliance complieswith the industry standards and with legalrequirements on the safety of appliances.However, as manufacturers, we feel it isour duty to provide the following safetynotes.

It is most important that this instructionbook should be retained with the appli-

ance for future reference. Should the ap-pliance be sold or transferred to anotherowner, or should you move house andleave the appliance, always ensure thatthe book is supplied with the appliance inorder that the new owner can get toknow the functioning of the applianceand the relevant warnings.

You MUST read them carefully before in-stalling or using the appliance.

Before first starting up, check the appli-ance for any damage incurred duringtransport. Never connect up a damagedappliance . If parts are damaged, contactyour supplier.

If the appliance is delivered in the wintermonths when there are minus tempera-tures. Store it at room temperature for 24hours before using for the first time.

GENERAL SAFETY

It is dangerous to alter the specificationsor attempt to modify this product in anyway.

During high temperature wash pro-grammes the door glass may get hot. Donot touch it!

Make sure that small pets and childrendo not climb into the drum. To avoid this,please check into the drum before using.

Any objects such as coins, safety pins,nails, screws, stones or any other hard,sharp material can cause extensive dam-age and must not be placed into the ma-chine.

Only use the advised quantities of fabricsoftener and detergent. Damage to thefabric can ensue if you over-fill. Refer tothe manufacturers recommendations ofquantities.

Wash small items such as socks, laces,washable belts etc in a washing bag orpillow case as it is possible for suchitems to slip down between the tub andthe inner drum.

Do not use your washing machine towash articles with whalebones, materialwithout hems or torn material.

Always unplug the appliance and turn offthe water supply after use, cleaning andmaintenance.

Under no circumstances should you at-tempt to repair the machine yourself. Re-pairs carried out by inexperienced peoplemay cause injury or serious malfunction-ing. Contact your local Service Centre.Always insist on genuine spare parts.

INSTALLATION

This appliance is heavy. Care should betaken when moving it.

When unpacking the appliance, checkthat it is not damaged. If in doubt, do notuse it and contact the Service Centre.

All packing and transit bolts must be re-moved before use. Serious damage canoccur to the product and to property ifthis is not adhered to. See relevant sec-tion in the user manual.

After having installed the appliance,

check that it is not standing on the inletand drain hose and the worktop is notpressing the electrical supply cableagainst the wall.

If the machine is situated on a carpetedfloor, please adjust the feet in order to al-low air to circulate freely under the appli-ance.

Always be sure, that there is no waterleakage from hoses and their connec-tions after the installation.

If the appliance is installed in a locationsubject to frost, please read the dangersof freezing chapter.

Any plumbing work required to install thisappliance should be carried out by aqualified plumber or competent person.

Any electrical work required to install thisappliance should be carried out by aqualified electrician or competent person.

USE This appliance is designed for domestic

use. It must not be used for purposesother than those for which it was de-signed.

Only wash fabrics which are designed tobe machine washed. Follow the instruc-tions on each garment label.

Do not overload the appliance. See theWashing Programme Table.

Before washing, ensure that all pockets

are empty and buttons and zips are fas-tened. Avoid washing frayed or torn arti-cles and treat stains such as paint, ink,rust, and grass before washing. Under-wired bras must NOT be machine wash-ed.

Garments which have been in contactwith volatile petroleum products shouldnot be machine washed. If volatile clean-ing fluids are used, care should be takento ensure that the fluid is removed from

the garment before placing in the ma-chine.

Never pull the power supply cable to re-move the plug from the socket; alwaystake hold of the plug itself.

Never use the appliance if the power

supply cable, the control panel, the work-ing surface or the base are damaged sothat the inside of the washing machine isaccessible.

CHILD SAFETY This appliance is not intended for use by

person (including children) with reducedphysical sensory or mental capabilities orlack of experience and knowledge unlessthey have been given supervision or in-struction concerning use of the applianceby a person responsible for their safety.

Children should be supervised to ensurethat they do not play with the appliance.

The packaging components (e.g. plasticfilm, polystyrene) can be dangerous tochildren - danger of suffocation! Keepthem out of childrens reach.

Keep all detergents in a safe place out ofchildrens reach.

Make sure that children or pets do notclimb into the drum. To prevent childrenand pets becoming trapped inside thedrum the machine incorporates a specialfeature. To activate this device, rotate thebutton (without pressing it) inside thedoor clockwise until the groove is hori-zontal. If necessary use a coin.

To disable this device and restore thepossibility of closing the door, rotate thebutton counterclockwise until the grooveis vertical.

DETERGENT DISPENSER DRAWER

Compartment for detergent used forprewash and soak phase or for stain re-mover used during the stain action phase (ifavailable). The prewash and soak detergentis added at the beginning of the wash pro-gramme. The stain remover is added dur-ing the stain action phase.

Compartment for powder or liquid de-tergent used for main wash. If using liquiddetergent pour itjust before starting theprogramme.

Compartment for liquid additives (fabricsoftener, starch).Follow the product manufacturers recom-mendations on quantities to use and do notexceed the MAX mark in the detergentdispenser drawer. Any fabric softener orstarching additives must be poured into thecompartment before starting the wash pro-gramme.

Flap for powder or liquid deter-gent (see "Flap for powder or liquid de-tergent" in the chapter "Daily use" formore details).

PROGRAMME SELECTOR DIALIt allows you to switch the appliance on/offand/or to select a programme.

SPIN SPEED REDUCTIONBy pressing this button you can reduce themaximum spin speed allowed for the selec-ted programme or to select the available

option(s).

NO SPINBy selecting this option, all spinning phasesare suppressed and replaced by a drain, soas not to wrinkle the laundry. Recommen-ded for extremely delicate fabrics. On someprogrammes the rinses will be performedwith more water.

RINSE HOLDBy selecting this function the water of thelast rinse is not emptied out to prevent thefabrics from creasing. Before opening the

door it will be necessary to empty out thewater. To empty out the water, please readthe paragraph At the end of the pro-gramme.

PREWASH

By selecting this option the machine per-forms a prewash cycle before the mainwash phase. The washing time will be pro-longed. This option is recommended forheavily soiled laundry.

DAILYA cycle to be used for daily soiled cotton,synthetic or delicate items in order to obtaingood washing performance in a short time.

SUPER QUICKShort cycle for lightly soiled items or forlaundry which needs only freshening up.We recommend you to reduce the fabricsloading.

EXTRA RINSEThis appliance is designed to save energy.If it necessary to rinse the laundry using anextra quantity of water (extra rinse), select

this option. Some additional rinses will beperformed. This option is recommended forpeople who are allergic to detergents, andin areas where the water is very soft.

START PAUSEThis button allows you to start or to inter-rupt the selected programme.

DELAY STARTThe programme can be delayed from 30

min - 60 min - 90 min, 2 hours and then by

1 hour up to a maximum of 20 hours bymeans of this button.

After having pressed the button 6, theWASHING pilot light (8.1) illuminates. Whenthe pilot light 8.1 illuminates this means thatthe machine is operating.The DOOR pilot light (8.2) illuminates whenthe programme starts and indicates if thedoor can be opened: light on: the door cannot be opened. The

machine is working or has stopped withwater left in the tub.

light off: the door can be opened. Theprogramme is finished or the water hasbeen emptied out.

light flashing: the door is opening in a fewminutes.

When the programme has finished the ENDCYCLE pilot light (8.3) comes on.

DISPLAY

5.1: Duration of selected programmeAfter selecting a programme, the durationis displayed in hours and minutes (for ex-ample ). The duration is calculatedautomatically on the basis of the maxi-mum recommended load for each type offabric. After the programme has started,the time remaining is updated every mi-nute.

Alarm codes

In the event of operating problems, somealarm codes can be displayed, for exam-ple (see chapter What to do if...).

End of programmeWhen the programme has finished threeblinking zeros ( ) are displayed, theDoor pilot light (8.2), the Washing pilotlight (8.1) and the pilot light of button 6go out and the door can be opened.

Incorrect option selection

If an option which is not compatible withthe set wash programme is selected, themessage Err is displayed for a few sec-onds and the red pilot light of button 6light starts blinking.

Delay StartThe selected delay set by means of therelevant button appears on the display for

a few seconds. The delay time value de-creases by one unit every hour. Whenonly 1 hour remains, the time decreasesevery minute.

5.2: Heating Phase

During the washing cycle the displayshows a temperature icon (5.2) to indi-cate that the appliance has started theheating phase of the water in the tub.

Child safety lockThis device permits you to leave the ap-pliance unsupervised without having theworry that children might be injured by orcause damage to the appliance. Thisfunction remains able also when thewashing machine is not working.There are two different ways to set thisoption: before pressing button 6: it will be im-

possible to start the machine; after having pressed the button 6: it will

be impossible to change any otherprogramme or option.

To enable (disable) this option press si-multaneously for about 6 seconds 3 and4 buttons until the symbol 5.3 appears(disappears) on the display.

PERSONALIZATION

ACOUSTIC SIGNALSThe machine is provided of an acoustic de-vice, which sounds in the following cases: at the end of the cycle

in the event of operating problems.By pressing the 2 and 3 buttons simultane-ously for about 6 seconds, the acousticsignal is deactivated (except for the eventsof operating problems). By pressing these 2

buttons again, the acoustic signal is reacti-vated.

FIRST USE Ensure that the electrical and water

connections comply with the installa-tion instructions.

Remove the polystyrene block andany material from the drum.

Pour 2 litres of water into the mainwash compartment of the deter-gent drawer in order to activate the

ECO valve. Then run a cotton cycleat the highest temperature withoutany laundry in the machine, to re-move any manufacturing residuefrom the drum and tub. Pour 1/2 ameasure of detergent into the mainwash compartment and start themachine.

DAILY USELoad the laundry

Open the door by carefully pulling the doorhandle outwards. Place the laundry in thedrum, one item at a time, shaking them outas much as possible. Close the door.Make sure that no laundry stays betweenthe seal and the door. There is a risk of wa-ter leakage or damage to the laundry.

Measure out the detergent and the fab-ric softenerPull out the dispenser drawer until it stops.Measure out the amount of detergent re-quired, pour it into the main wash compart-

ment or in the appropriate compartmentif the selected programme/option it requires(see more details in Detergent dispenserdrawer).

If required, pour fabric softener into thecompartment marked (the amount usedmust not exceed the MAX mark in thedrawer). Close the drawer gently.

Measure out the detergent.

For the quantity of detergent, refer al-ways to what is written on the productpacking and ensure that the detergent

can be poured in the drawer. Pour the liquid detergent in the compart-

ment without exceeding the limit indi-cated in the flap.

Close the dispenser drawer.

Warning! Do not use the flap in"DOWN" position with: Gelatinous detergent or thick deter-

gent. Powder detergent. With programmes with prewash. Do not use liquid detergent if the

washing programme doesn't start

immediately.In these cases, use the flap in "UP"position .

SELECT THE REQUIRED PROGRAMMEBY TURNING THE PROGRAMMESELECTOR DIAL (1)You can choose the right programme forany type of laundry following the descrip-tions on the washing programme tables

(see Washing Programmes). Turn theprogramme selector dial to the requiredprogramme. The programme selector de-termines the type of washing cycle (e.g.water level, drum movement, number of rin-ses) and the washing temperature accord-ing to the type of laundry. The pilot light ofbutton 6 starts blinking and the displayshows the duration of the selected pro-gramme. The selector dial can be turned ei-ther clockwise or counterclockwise. Posi-tion to Reset programme/Switching OFFthe machine.

For the description of each washingprogrammes of the selector dial, con-sult the chapter Washing pro-grammes.

At the end of the programme the selec-tor dial must be turned to position ,to switch the machine off.

Caution! If you turn the programmeselector dial to another programmewhen the machine is working, the redpilot light of button 6 will blink 3 timesand the message Err is displayed onthe display to indicate a wrongselection. The machine will not performthe new selected programme.

REDUCE THE SPIN SPEED BY

PRESSING BUTTON 2When the required programme has beenselected, your appliance automatically pro-poses the maximum spin speed providedfor that programme.Press button 2 repeatedly to change thespin speed, if you want your laundry to bespun at a speed different from the one pro-posed by the washing machine. The rele-vant light will light up.

SELECT THE AVAILABLE OPTIONS BYPRESSING BUTTONS 2, 3 AND 4Depending on the programme, differentfunctions can be combined. These must beselected after choosing the desired pro-

high. In any case, do not try to force thedoor!If you cannot open the door but you needto open it you have to switch the machineoff by turning the selector dial to . After afew minutes the door can be opened (pay

attention to the water level and temper-ature!).After closing the door, it is necessary to setthe programme and options again. Pressbutton 6 to start the machine.

AT THE END OF THE PROGRAMMEThe machine stops automatically. The dis-play shows three blinking zeros ( ).Some acoustic signals sound. The light ofbutton 6, the lights 8.1 and 8.2 go off.After some minutes the light 8.3 illuminates.The door can be opened.If you have set a programme or an optionthat ends with water left in the tub, the light8.2 remains on. The door is locked. The

water must be emptied out before openingthe door. During this time the drum contin-ues to rotate at regular intervals.Follow the below instructions to empty outthe water:1. Turn the programme selector dial to

.2. Set the draining or spinning pro-gramme.

3. If needed reduce the spin speed.4. Press button 6.At the end of the programme, the light 8.2goes off. The door can be now opened.Turn the programme selector dial to toswitch the machine off.Remove the laundry from the drum andcarefully check that the drum is empty. Ifyou do not intend to carry out anotherwash, close the water tap. Leave the dooropen to prevent the formation of mildewand unpleasant smells.

Stand by: once the programme has finish-ed after a few minutes the energy savingsystem will be enabled. The brightness of

the display is reduced. By pressing any but-ton the appliance will come out of the ener-gy saving status.

HELPFUL HINTS AND TIPSSORTING OUT THE LAUNDRYFollow the wash code symbols on eachgarment label and the manufacturerswashing instructions. Sort the laundry asfollows: whites, coloureds, synthetics, deli-cates, woollens.

BEFORE LOADING THE LAUNDRYNever wash whites and coloureds together.Whites may lose their whiteness in thewash.New coloured items may run in the firstwash; they should therefore be washedseparately the first time.Button up pillowcases, close zip fasteners,hooks and poppers. Tie any belts or longtapes.Remove persistent stains before washing.Rub particularly soiled areas with a special

detergent or detergent paste.Treat curtains with special care. Removehooks or tie them up in a bag or net.

REMOVING STAINSStubborn stains may not be removed byjust water and detergent. It is therefore ad-visable to treat them prior to washing.Blood: treat fresh stains with cold water.For dried stains, soak overnight in waterwith a special detergent then rub in thesoap and water.Oil based paint: moisten with benzinestain remover, lay the garment on a softcloth and dab the stain; treat several times.Dried grease stains: moisten with turpen-tine, lay the garment on a soft surface anddab the stain with the fingertips and a cot-ton cloth.Rust: oxalic acid dissolved in hot water or arust removing product used cold. Be carefulwith rust stains which are not recent sincethe cellulose structure will already have

been damaged and the fabric tends to hole.Mould stains: treat with bleach, rinse well(whites and fast coloureds only).Grass: soap lightly and treat with bleach(whites and fast coloureds only).

Ball point pen and glue: moisten withacetone1), lay the garment on a soft clothand dab the stain.Lipstick: moisten with acetone as above,then treat stains with methylated spirits.Treat any residual marks with bleach.

Red wine: soak in water and detergent,rinse and treat with acetic or citric acid,then rinse. Treat any residual marks withbleach.Ink: depending on the type of ink, moistenthe fabric first with acetone1), then withacetic acid; treat any residual marks onwhite fabrics with bleach and then rinsethoroughly.Tar stains: first treat with stain remover,

methylated spirits or benzine, then rub withdetergent paste.

DETERGENTS AND ADDITIVESGood washing results also depend on thechoice of detergent and use of the correctquantities to avoid waste and protect theenvironment.Although biodegradable, detergents containsubstances which, in large quantities, canupset the delicate balance of nature.

The choice of detergent will depend on thetype of fabric (delicates, woollens, cottons,etc.), the colour, washing temperature anddegree of soiling.All commonly available washing machinedetergents may be used in this appliance: powder detergents for all types of fabric powder detergents for delicate fabrics

(60C max) and woollens liquid detergents, preferably for low tem-

perature wash programmes (60C max)for all types of fabric, or special for wool-lens only.

The detergent and any additives must beplaced in the appropriate compartments ofthe dispenser drawer before starting thewash programme.If using liquid detergents, a programmewithout prewash must be selected.

Your appliance incorporates a recirculationsystem which allows an optimal use of theconcentrated detergent.Follow the product manufacturers recom-mendations on quantities to use and donot exceed the MAX mark in the de-tergent dispenser drawer.

QUANTITY OF DETERGENT TO BEUSEDThe type and quantity of detergent will de-pend on the type of fabric, load size, de-gree of soiling and hardness of the waterused.Follow the product manufacturers instruc-tions on quantities to use.Use less detergent if: you are washing a small load the laundry is lightly soiled large amounts of foam form during wash-

ing.

DEGREES OF WATER HARDNESSWater hardness is classified in so-calleddegrees of hardness. Information on hard-ness of the water in your area can be ob-tained from the relevant water supply com-pany, or from your local authority. If the wa-ter hardness degree is medium or high wesuggest you to add a water softener follow-ing always the manufacturers instructions.When the degree of hardness is soft, read-

The water we use normally contains lime. Itis a good idea to periodically use a watersoftening powder in the machine. Do thisseparately from any laundry washing, andaccording to the softening powder manu-facturer's instructions. This will help to pre-vent the formation of lime deposits.

AFTER EACH WASHLeave the door open for a while. This helps

to prevent mould and stagnant smells form-ing inside the appliance. Keeping the dooropen after a wash will also help to preservethe door seal.

MAINTENANCE WASHWith the use of low temperature washes itis possible to get a build up of residues in-side the drum.We recommend that a maintenance washbe performed on a regular basis.

To run a maintenance wash: The drum should be empty of laundry. Select the hottest cotton wash pro-

gramme.

Use a normal measure of detergent,must be a powder with biological proper-ties.

EXTERNAL CLEANINGClean the exterior cabinet of the appliance

with soap and water only, and then drythoroughly.

Important! Do not use methylated spirits,solvents or similar products to clean thecabinet.

CLEANING THE DISPENSER DRAWERThe detergent dispenser drawer should becleaned regularly.The washing powder and additive dispens-

er drawer should be cleaned regularly.Remove the drawer by pressing the catchdownwards and by pulling it out.

Flush it out under a tap, to remove anytraces of accumulated powder.To aid cleaning, the top part of the additivecompartment should be removed. Clean allparts with water.

Clean the chamber of dispenser drawerwith a brush.

WASHING DRUMRust deposits in the drum may occur dueto rusting foreign bodies in the washing ortap water containing iron.

Important! Do not clean the drum withacidic descaling agents, scouring agentscontaining chlorine or iron or steel wool.

1. Remove any rust deposits on the drum

with a cleaning agent for stainless steel.2. Run a washing cycle without any wash-

ing to clean off any cleaning agent resi-dues.Programme: Short Cotton Programmeat maximum temperature and add ap-prox. 1/4 measuring cup of detergent.

DOOR SEALCheck from time to time the door seal and

eliminate eventual possible objects thatcould be trapped in the fold.

DRAIN PUMPRegularly examine the drain pump andmake sure that it is clean.Clean the pump regularly and/or if: The appliance does not drain the water. The drum cannot turn. The appliance makes an unusual noise

because of the blockage of the drainpump. A problem with water draining is detected

(see chapter What to do if... for moredetails).

Warning!1. Disconnect the mains plug from

the mains socket.2. Do not remove the filter while the

appliance operates. Do not clean

the drain pump if the water in theappliance is hot. The water mustbe cold before you clean the drainpump.

To clean the drain pump:1. Open the pump door.

2. Put a container below the recess of thedrain pump to collect the water thatflows out.

3. Press the two levers and pull forwardthe drainage duct to let the water flowout.

4. When the container is full of water, putthe drainage duct back again and emp-ty the container. Do steps 3 and 4again and again until no more water

flows out from the drain pump.

5. Pull back the drainage duct.6. Unscrew the filter and remove it.

7. Remove fluff and objects from thepump.

8. Make sure that the impeller of thepump can turn. If this does not occur,contact the service centre.

9. Clean the filter under the water tap andput it back in the pump into the specialguides.

10. Make sure that you tighten correctly thefilter to prevent leakages.

11. Close the drain pump door.

Warning!

Never remove the pump cover during awash cycle, always wait until the appliancehas finished the cycle, and is empty. Whenrefitting the pump cover, ensure it is se-curely re-tightened so as to stop leaks andyoung children being able to remove it.

CLEANING THE WATER INLETFILTERS

If you notice that the machine is taking lon-ger to fill, check that the filter in the waterinlet hose is not blocked.1. Turn off the water tap.2. Unscrew the water inlet hose.

3. Clean the filter in the hose using a hardbristle brush.

4. Screw the hose back onto the tap.5. Unscrew the hose from the machine.

Keep a rug nearby because some wa-ter may flow.

6. Clean the filter in the valve with a stiff

brush or with the piece of cloth.

7. Screw the hose back to the machineand make sure the connection is tight.8. Turn on the water tap.

EMERGENCY EMPTYING OUTIf the appliance cannot drain the water, pro-ceed as follows to empty out the machine:1. pull out the plug from the power sock-

et;2. close the water tap;3. if necessary, wait until the water has

cooled down;4. open the pump door;5. place a container on the floor below the

recess of the drain pump;6. press the two levers and pull forward

the drainage duct to let the water flowout;

7. when the container is full of water, putthe drainage duct back again and emp-ty the container;repeat this operation until water stopsflowing out;

8. if necessary clean the pump (refer to

the section Drain pump );9. close the drain pump door.When you drain the water with the emer-gency drain procedure, you must activateagain the drain system:1. Put 2 litres of water in the main wash

compartment of the detergent dispens-er.

2. Start the programme to drain the wa-ter.

FROST PRECAUTIONSIf the machine is installed in a place wherethe temperature could drop below 0C, re-move the remaining water from the inlethose and the drain pump.1. disconnect the mains plug from the

mains socket.2. close the water tap3. unscrew the water inlet hose from the

tap;

4. put the two ends of the inlet hose in acontainer and let the water flow out ofthe hose.

5. empty the drain pump as described inthe Emergency drain section.

6. when the drain pump is empty, installthe water inlet hose again.

Make sure that the temperature is more

than 0 C before you use the applianceagain.The manufacturer is not responsible fordamages caused by low temperatures.

WHAT TO DO IFCertain problems are due to lack of simple

maintenance or oversights, which can besolved easily without calling out an engi-neer. Before contacting your local Service

Centre, please carry out the checks listed

below.During machine operation it is possible thatthe red pilot light of button 6 blinks, one ofthe following alarm codes appears on the

display and at the same some acoustic sig-nals sound every 20 seconds to indicatethat the machine is not working: : problem with the water supply. : problem with the water draining.

: door open.Once the problem has been eliminated,press the button 6 to restart the pro-gramme. If after all checks, the problempersists, contact your local Service Centre.

The door has not been closed. Close firmly the door.

The plug is not properly inserted in the power socket. Insert the plug into the power socket.

There is no power at the socket. Please check your domestic electrical installation.

The machine does not fill:

The water tap is closed. Open the water tap.

The inlet hose is squashed or kinked. Check the inlet hose connection.

The filter in the inlet hose or the inlet valve filter is blocked. Clean the water inlet filter (See Cleaning the water inlet filter for

more details).The door is not properly closed. Close firmly the door.

The machine does notempty and/or does notspin:

The drain hose is squashed or kinked. Check the drain hose connection.

The drain filter is clogged. Clean the drain filter.

You have set an option or a programme that ends with the waterleft in the tub or that eliminates all the spinning phases. Select the draining or spinning programme.

The laundry is not evenly distributed in the drum. Redistribute the laundry.

There is water on the floor:

Too much detergent or unsuitable detergent (creates too muchfoam) has been used. Reduce the detergent quantity or use another one.Check whether there are any leaks from one of the inlet hose fit-ting. It is not always easy to see this as the water runs down thehose; check to see if it is damp. Check the water inlet hose connection.

The inlet hoses is damaged. Change it with a new one.

The filter has not been properly screwed in after cleaning action.

Screw the filter fully in.

the spinning programme.

Spinning starts late or themachine does not spin:

The electronic unbalance detection device has cut in because thelaundry is not evenly distributed in the drum. The laundry is redis-tributed by reverse rotation of the drum. This may happen several

times before the unbalance disappears and normal spinning canresume. If, after 10 minutes, the laundry is still not evenly distrib-uted in the drum, the machine will not spin. In this case, redistrib-ute the load manually and select the spin programme. Redistribute the laundry.

The load is too small. Add more items, redistribute the load manually and then select

the spinning programme.

The machine makes an un-usual noise:

The machine is fitted with a type of motor which makes an unusualnoise compared with other traditional motors. This new motor en-sures a softer start and more even distribution of the laundry in thedrum when spinning, as well as increased stability of the machine.

No water is visible in thedrum:

Machines based on modern technology operate very economicallyusing very little water without affecting performance.

If you are unable to identify or solve theproblem, contact our service centre. Beforetelephoning, make a note of the model, se-rial number and purchase date of your ma-chine: the Service Centre will require thisinformation.

POSITIONINGInstall the machine on a flat hard floor.Make sure that air circulation around themachine is not impeded by carpets, rugsetc. Check that the machine does nottouch the wall or other kitchen units. Levelthe washing machine by raising or loweringthe feet. The feet may be tight to adjust asthey incorporate a self locking nut, but themachine MUST be level and stable. 1. Connect the water inlet hose suppliedwith the machine to a tap with a 3/4"thread. Always use the hose suppliedwith the appliance.

2. The other end of the inlet hose whichconnects to the machine can be turnedas showed in the picture.Do not place the inlet hose downwards.Angle the hose to the left or right de-pending on the position of your water

tap.

3. Set the hose correctly by loosening thering nut. After positioning the inlet hose,be sure to tighten the ring nut again toprevent leaks.

The inlet hose must not be lengthened. If itis too short and you do not wish to movethe tap, you will have to purchase a new,longer hose specially designed for this typeof use.

Important! Before connecting up themachine to new pipework or to pipeworkthat has not been used for some time, runoff a reasonable amount of water to flushout any debris that may have collected inthe pipes.

WATER DRAINAGEThe end of the drain hose can be posi-tioned in three ways. Hooked over the edge of a sink using

the plastic hose guide supplied with themachine. In this case, make sure the endcannot come unhooked when the ma-chine is emptying. This could be done bytying it to the tap with a piece of string orattaching it to the wall.

In a sink drain pipe branch. Thisbranch must be above the trap so thatthe bend is at least 60 cm above theground.

Directly into a drain pipe at a height ofnot less than 60 cm and not more than

90 cm. The end of the drain hose mustalways be ventilated, i.e. the inside diam-eter of the drain pipe must be larger thanthe outside diameter of the drain hose.The drain hose must not be kinked.

The drain hose may be extended to a maximum of 4 metres. An additional drain hoseand joining piece is available from your local Service Centre.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONAny electrical work required to in-

stall this appliance must be carriedout by qualified electrician or com-petent person.

INSTALACIN

Este aparato es pesado. Por tanto, sedebe tener cuidado al transportarlo. Al desembalar el aparato, compruebe

que no est daado. Si tiene alguna du-da, no lo utilice y pngase en contactocon el centro de servicio tcnico.

Todos los pasadores del embalaje ytransporte se deben retirar antes del uso.De lo contrario, se pueden producir da-os graves en el producto y daos mate-riales. Vase el apartado correspondienteen el manual de usuario.

Una vez instalada la lavadora, asegresede que sta no descansa sobre la man-guera de entrada ni la de desage, ascomo de que la encimera no est presio-nando el cable de alimentacin elctricacontra la pared.

Si la mquina est situada sobre un sueloenmoquetado, ajuste las patas para quepueda circular libremente el aire por de-

bajo del aparato. Una vez realizada la instalacin, asegre-se de que no existen fugas de agua pro-cedentes de las mangueras y sus cone-xiones.

Si el electrodomstico se instala en un lu-gar sometido a heladas, consulte el cap-tulo "Riesgos de helada".

Los trabajos de fontanera necesarios pa-ra instalar el electrodomstico deberncorrer a cargo de un fontanero o tcnico

USO Este aparato se ha diseado para uso

DEPSITO DOSIFICADOR DE DETERGENTE

Compartimento del detergente para lafase de prelavado y remojo o del quitaman-chas utilizado durante la fase antimanchas(si est disponible). El detergente de prela-

vado y remojo se deposita al principio delprograma de lavado. El quitamanchas sedeposita durante la fase de accin anti-manchas.

Compartimento del detergente lquido oen polvo para el lavado principal. Si se utili-za detergente lquido, virtalojusto antesde iniciar el programa.

Compartimento para aditivos lquidos(suavizante, almidn).

REDUCCIN DE CENTRIFUGADOEsta tecla permite reducir la velocidad m-xima de centrifugado que se puede utilizarcon el programa seleccionado. Tambinpermite seleccionar las opciones que estndisponibles.

SIN CENTRIFUGADOCuando se selecciona esta opcin, se su-primen todas las fases de centrifugado y sesustituyen por una descarga para que lasprendas no se arruguen. Esta opcin se re-comienda para prendas muy delicadas. Enalgunos programas se utiliza ms agua pa-ra los aclarados.

AGUA EN CUBADeja sin descargar el agua del ltimo acla-rado para impedir que los tejidos se arru-guen. Es necesario vaciar el agua antes deabrir la puerta. Para descargar el agua,consulte "Al final del programa".

PRELAVADOCuando se selecciona esta opcin, la m-quina realiza un ciclo de prelavado antes dela fase de lavado principal. El tiempo de la-

vado se prolongar. Esta opcin se reco-mienda para prendas muy sucias.

DIARIOPrendas de algodn, sintticas o delicadaspoco sucias; ciclo corto con un buen rendi-miento de lavado

SUPER RPIDOCiclo corto para prendas poco sucias queslo necesitan un retoque. Se recomiendareducir la carga de prendas.

AQUACAREEsta lavadora se ha diseado para funcio-nar con poco consumo de energa. Selec-cione esta opcin si es necesario aclarar laropa utilizando una cantidad adicional deagua (aclarado adicional). Se realizarn al-gunos aclarados adicionales. Se recomien-da esta opcin para personas alrgicas aldetergente y en zonas en las que el aguaes muy blanda.

INICIO/PAUSAEste botn permite iniciar o interrumpir elprograma seleccionado.

INICIO DIFERIDOPermite retrasar el inicio del lavado en 30,60, 90 minutos o 2 horas y, luego, de 1 ho-ra a un mximo de 20.

5.1: Duracin del programa seleccionado

Tras seleccionar un programa, la dura-

cin del mismo se muestra en horas yminutos (por ejemplo ). La dura-cin se calcula automticamente sobre labase de una carga mxima recomenda-da para cada tipo de tejido. Una vez quese ha iniciado el programa, el tiempo res-tante se actualiza cada minuto.

Cdigos de alarmaEn caso de problemas de funcionamien-to pueden mostrase algunos cdigos de

alarma, por ejemplo (consulte elcaptulo Qu hacer si...). Fin de programa

Cuando el programa finaliza se visualizantres ceros ( ) que parpadean, el pi-loto Puerta (8.2), el piloto de lavado (8.1)

y el piloto del botn 6 se apagan y lapuerta se puede abrir.

Seleccin de opcin incorrecta

Cuando se elige una opcin incompatiblecon el programa de lavado seleccionado,aparece el mensaje Err durante unos se-gundos y el piloto rojo de la tecla 6 co-mienza a parpadear.

Inicio diferidoEl retardo seleccionado mediante el bo-tn correspondiente aparece en la panta-lla durante unos segundos. El valor delintervalo de retraso disminuye en una

unidad cada hora. Cuando slo quedauna hora, el tiempo disminuye a cada mi-nuto.

Bloqueo de seguridad para niosEste dispositivo le permite dejar el elec-trodomstico sin supervisin sin tenerque que preocuparse de si los niospueden sufrir lesiones o daar el electro-domstico. Esta funcin tambin perma-nece activada cuando la lavadora no esten funcionamiento.

Esta opcin se puede ajustar de dos ma-neras: antes de pulsar la tecla 6: es imposible

poner la mquina en marcha; cuando se pulsa la tecla 6: ser impo-

sible cambiar cualquier otro programa

u opcin.Para activar (desactivar) esta opcin, pul-se al mismo tiempo las teclas 3 y 4 du-rante 6 segundos hasta que el smbolo5.3 aparezca (desaparezca) de la panta-lla.

PERSONALIZACIN

SEALES ACSTICASLa mquina incorpora un dispositivo acsti-co que suena en los siguientes casos: al final del programa en caso de problemas de funcionamien-

to.

Al pulsar las teclas 2 y 3 simultneamentedurante unos 6 segundos se desactiva laseal acstica (excepto en caso de proble-mas de funcionamiento). Si se vuelven apulsar estas dos teclas se reactiva la sealacstica.

PRIMER USO Compruebe que las conexiones

elctricas y de agua cumplen las ins-

trucciones de instalacin. Saque el bloque de poliestireno y

cualquier otro material del tambor. Vierta 2 litros de agua en el compar-

timento de lavado principal deldepsito de detergente para activarel sistema ECO valve. A continua-

cin, ponga en marcha un programade algodn a la temperatura mxima

sin introducir prendas en la mquina,pues as eliminar cualquier residuode fabricacin del tambor y la cuba.Vierta la mitad de una dosis de de-tergente en el compartimento de la-vado principal y ponga en marcha lamquina.

Abra la puerta tirando cuidadosamente dela palanca de la puerta hacia fuera. Sacudala ropa cuanto pueda e introdzcala en eltambor prenda por prenda. Cierre la puerta.Asegrese de que no quedan prendas en-ganchadas entre la puerta y el cierre. Po-dra provocar fugas de agua y daar la co-lada.

SELECCIONE EL PROGRAMA QUEDESEE CON EL SELECTOR DEPROGRAMAS (1)Utilice las tablas de lavado (consulte elapartado "Programas de lavado") para ele-gir el programa adecuado a cada tipo detejido y colada. Gire el selector de progra-mas hasta dejarlo en el programa deseado.

El selector de programas determina el tipode ciclo (por ejemplo, nivel de agua, movi-miento del tambor, nmero de aclarados) yla temperatura de lavado en funcin del tipode colada. El piloto del botn 6 comienza aparpadear y la pantalla muestra la duracindel programa seleccionado. El selector deprogramas puede girarse hacia la derecha yhacia la izquierda. Posicin para reiniciarel programa o apagar la mquina.

Consulte la descripcin de todos losprogramas de lavado del selector deprogramas, en "Programas de lavado".

Al final del programa, el selector deprogramas debe situarse en la posicin

para poder apagar el aparato.

Precaucin Si gira el selector hastaotro programa mientras la lavadora

est funcionando, el piloto rojo de latecla 6 parpadea 3 veces y el mensajeErr se muestra para indicar que se harealizado una seleccin incorrecta. Lamquina no pondr en marcha elnuevo programa seleccionado.

REDUZCA LA VELOCIDAD DECENTRIFUGADO CON LA TECLA 2Una vez seleccionado el programa, el elec-trodomstico propone de forma automtica

la velocidad de centrifugado mxima quepuede alcanzar.Pulse la tecla 2 varias veces para cambiarla velocidad de centrifugado si desea quelas prendas centrifuguen a una velocidaddistinta a la propuesta por la lavadora. Seenciende el piloto correspondiente.

SELECCIONE LAS OPCIONESDISPONIBLES CON LAS TECLAS 2, 3 Y4

Existe la posibilidad de combinar distintasfunciones segn el programa. Estas funcio-nes deben seleccionarse despus de elegirel programa deseado y antes de iniciarlo. Alpulsar estas teclas se encienden los pilotoscorrespondientes. Si se vuelven a pulsar,los pilotos se apagan. Si se selecciona unaopcin incorrecta, el piloto rojo del botn 6parpadea 3 veces

SELECCIONE EL INICIO DIFERIDOCON LA TECLA 7Si desea retrasar el inicio antes de iniciar elprograma, presione el botn 7 varias vecespara seleccionar el intervalo que desee. Elvalor del intervalo de retardo seleccionado(hasta 20 horas) se muestra en la pantalla

durante unos segundos; a continuacin, sevisualiza de nuevo la duracin del progra-ma.Esta opcin debe seleccionarse despusde elegir el programa y antes de pulsar latecla 6.

Es posible cancelar o modificar el tiempode retraso en cualquier momento antes depulsar la tecla 6.Seleccin del inicio diferido:1. Seleccione el programa y las opciones

necesarias.

2. Pulse la tecla 7 para ajustar el inicio di-ferido.3. Pulse la tecla 6:

El programa se inicia una vez finaliza-do el intervalo de retardo selecciona-do.

ma en marcha: el piloto verde correspon-diente empieza a parpadear.Pulse la tecla 6 otra vez para reiniciar elprograma a partir del punto en que se inte-rrumpi. Si ha seleccionado un inicio diferi-do, la mquina comenzar ahora la cuentaatrs.Si se selecciona una opcin incorrecta, elpiloto rojo de la tecla 6 parpadea 3 veces yel mensaje Err aparece durante unos se-gundos.

Antes de realizar cambios, es preciso ponerla lavadora en PAUSA con la tecla 6.El cambio de un programa en marcha slopuede realizarse reinicindolo. Gire el selec-tor de programas hasta y, seguidamen-te, hasta la posicin del nuevo programa.

Vuelva a pulsar la tecla 6 nuevamente paraponer en marcha el nuevo programa. No sevaciar el agua de la cuba.

INTERRUPCIN DE UN PROGRAMAPulse la tecla 6 para interrumpir el progra-ma en marcha; el piloto verde correspon-diente empieza a parpadear.Vuelva a pulsar la tecla para reiniciar elprograma.

CANCELACIN DE UN PROGRAMAGire el selector de programas hasta pa-ra cancelar un programa una vez que esten marcha.Despus podr seleccionar otro programa.

APERTURA DE LA PUERTATras iniciarse el programa, o durante todoel periodo de tiempo diferido, la puerta per-manecer bloqueada. Si necesita abrir la

puerta, pulse primero la tecla 6 para ponerla lavadora en PAUSA. Tras unos minutos,el piloto 8.2 desaparece. Es posible abrir lapuerta.Si el piloto permanece encendido y la puer-ta est bloqueada, la mquina ya est enfase de calentamiento o el nivel de agua esdemasiado alto. En cualquier caso, no fuer-ce nunca la puerta.Si no puede abrir la puerta pero necesitahacerlo, apague la mquina girando el se-lector de programas hasta la posicin .La puerta podr abrirse pasados unos mi-

nutos (preste atencin al nivel del aguay a la temperatura).Cuando cierre la puerta, tendr que volver aajustar el programa y las opciones. Pulse elbotn 6 para iniciar la mquina.

AL FINALIZAR EL PROGRAMAEl aparato se para automticamente. Lapantalla muestra tres ceros intermitentes (

).Se reciben tres seales acsticas. El pilotode la tecla 6 y el piloto 8.1 y 8.2se apagan.Tras unos minutos, el piloto 8.3 se encien-de. Se puede abrir la puerta.Si se ha seleccionado un programa u op-cin que finaliza dejando agua en la cuba,el piloto 8.2 permanece encendido. Lapuerta est bloqueada. Es necesario vaciarel agua antes de abrir la puerta Durante es-te periodo de tiempo, el tambor sigue gi-rando a intervalos regulares.Siga las instrucciones que se indican a con-tinuacin para vaciar el agua:1. Gire el selector de programas hasta

3. Si fuera necesario, reduzca la velocidadde centrifugado.4. En espera : una vez finalizado el progra-ma, al cabo de unos minutos se activa elsistema de ahorro de energa. Se reduce el

brillo de la pantalla. Al pulsar cualquier tec-la, el aparato abandona el estado de ahorrode energa.

CONSEJOS TILESCLASIFICACIN DE LA ROPA SUCIA

Consulte los smbolos de lavado que apa-recen en la etiqueta de la prenda y siga lasinstrucciones de lavado del fabricante. Laropa se debe clasificar de la siguiente ma-

nera: ropa blanca, ropa de color, ropa sin-

ttica, prendas delicadas y prendas de la-na.

GRADOS DE DUREZA DEL AGUALa dureza del agua se clasifica en "grados".

Para obtener informacin sobre la durezadel agua local, puede consultar a la compa-a encargada del suministro o a la admi-nistracin local. Si el agua tiene un gradode dureza medio o alto, se recomiendaaadir un descalcificante de agua de acuer-do con las instrucciones del fabricante delmismo. Cuando el agua sea blanda, basta-r con ajustar la dosis de detergente.

MANTENIMIENTO Y LIMPIEZAAdvertencia Antes de efectuarcualquier tipo limpieza omantenimiento, desenchufe el aparato

de corriente elctrica.

DESINCRUSTACINEl agua corriente que utilizamos suele con-tener cal. Se recomienda utilizar peridica-mente en la lavadora un producto en polvodescalcificador del agua. Realice esta tareacon independencia de cualquier ciclo de la-vado y de acuerdo con las instrucciones delfabricante del producto descalcificador. Asimpedir la formacin de depsitos de cal.

DESPUS DE CADA LAVADOMantenga la puerta abierta durante un rato.As impedir la formacin de moho y olor ahumedad en el interior de la mquina. Tam-bin ayudar a conservar en buen estado lajunta de estanqueidad de la puerta.

LAVADO DE MANTENIMIENTOLa sucesin de lavados a baja temperatura

godn de ms temperatura. Utilice una dosis normal de detergente:

LIMPIEZA DEL EXTERIORLimpie la carcasa exterior del electrodo-mstico con agua y jabn nicamente y s-quela a fondo.

TAMBOR DE LAVADOLa presencia de cuerpos extraos oxidan-tes en el lavado y el agua corriente con

contenido en hierro pueden dar lugar a laformacin de depsitos de xido en el tam-bor.

Importante No limpie el tambor condesincrustantes cidos, desengrasantesque contengan cloro, ni estropajos dehierro o acero.

1. Retire los depsitos de xido del tam-bor con un agente de limpieza paraacero inoxidable.

2. Ponga en marcha un ciclo de lavadosin introducir ropa para limpiar los resi-duos del agente de limpieza.Programa: programa de algodn cortoa temperatura mxima y aada aproxi-madamente un cuarto de un vaso demedida de detergente.

JUNTA DE ESTANQUEIDAD DE LAPUERTA

Compruebe la junta de vez en cuando yquite todo objeto que haya quedado atra-pado en el pliegue.

BOMBA DE DESAGEExamine peridicamente la bomba de de-sage y asegrese de que est limpia.Limpie con regularidad la bomba, incluso si: El aparato no desagua. El tambor no gira. El aparato hace ruidos extraos debido al

bloqueo de la bomba. Detecta un problema con el desage delagua (consulte el captulo "Solucin deproblemas" para obtener ms informa-cin).

Advertencia1. Desenchufe el aparato de la toma

de red.2. No quite el filtro mientras el apara-

to est en funcionamiento. No lim-

pie la bomba de desage si elagua del electrodomstico est ca-liente. El agua debe enfriarse paralimpiar la bomba.

Para limpiar la bomba de desage:1. Abra la puerta de acceso a la bomba.

2. Coloque un recipiente debajo del hue-co de la bomba para recoger el aguaque salga.

3. Presione las dos palancas y tire delconducto de desage para que salga elagua.

4. Cuando el contenedor est lleno deagua, vuelva a colocar el conducto yvace el recipiente. Realice los pasos 3y 4 repetidamente hasta que no salga

ms agua de la bomba.

5. Retire el conducto de desage.6. Desenrosque el filtro del desage y qu-

telo.

7. Retire las pelusas y los objetos de labomba.

8. Asegrese de que el rotor de la bombagira. Si no es as, pngase en contactocon el servicio tcnico.

9. Limpie el filtro debajo del grifo y vuelvaa colocarlo en la bomba en las guasespeciales.

10. Asegrese de apretar el filtro correcta-mente para evitar fugas.

11. Cierre la puerta de acceso a la bomba

de desage.

Advertencia

Nunca extraiga la tapa del filtro durante unciclo de lavado; espere siempre a que la la-vadora haya terminado y est vaca. Al vol-ver a colocar la tapa del filtro, asegrese deapretarla firmemente para impedir que seproduzcan fugas y que los nios puedansacarla.

LIMPIEZA DE LOS FILTROS DEENTRADA DE AGUASi nota que la lavadora tarda demasiado enllenarse, compruebe que el filtro situado enla manguera de entrada de agua no estobstruido.

1. cierre la toma de agua;2. Desconecte la manguera de entrada de

agua.3. Limpie el filtro de la manguera con un

cepillo rgido.

4. Vuelva a enroscar la manguera en la to-ma de agua.

5. Desenrosque la manguera de la mqui-na. Tenga una bayeta a mano porquepuede salir algo de agua.

6. Limpie el filtro en la vlvula con un cepi-llo rgido o con un trozo de tela.

7. Vuelva a enroscar la manguera en lamquina y compruebe que la conexinest bien ajustada.

8. Abra el grifo.

VACIADO DE EMERGENCIASi la lavadora no desagua, proceda de la si-

guiente manera para vaciarla:1. Desconecte el enchufe de la toma decorriente.

2. Cierre la llave del agua.3. En caso necesario, espere a que el

agua se enfre.4. Abra la puerta de la bomba.5. Coloque un recipiente en el suelo, de-

bajo del hueco de la bomba de desa-ge.

6. Presione las dos palancas y tire delconducto de desage para que salga elagua.

7. Cuando el recipiente est lleno deagua, vuelva a colocar el conducto dedesage y vace el recipiente.

Repita el procedimiento hasta que dejede salir agua.8. En caso necesario, limpie la bomba

(consulte la seccin "Bomba de desa-ge").

9. Cierre la puerta de acceso a la bombade desage.

Cuando se extrae el agua con el procesode desage de emergencia, se debe activarde nuevo el sistema de desage:1. Coloque dos litros de agua en el com-

partimento de lavado principal del dosi-ficador de detergente.

2. Inicie el programa para desaguar.

MEDIDAS ANTICONGELACINSi el aparato est instalado en un lugardonde la temperatura puede descender pordebajo de 0 C, retire el agua restante de lamanguera de entrada y la bomba de desa-ge.

1. Desenchufe el aparato de la toma decorriente.2. Cierre la llave del agua.3. Desenrosque la manguera de entrada

del agua del grifo.4. Coloque los dos extremos de la man-

guera de entrada en un recipiente y de-je que salga el agua.

5. Vace la bomba de desage como sedescribe en la seccin "Desage deemergencia".

6. Cuando la bomba est vaca, coloquede nuevo la manguera.

Advertencia

Asegrese de que la temperatura es supe-rior a 0 C antes de usar de nuevo el apara-to.El fabricante no se hace responsable de losdaos derivados de las bajas temperaturas.

QU HACER SIAlgunos problemas, que se deben a faltade mantenimiento o a descuidos, pueden

resolverse sin necesidad de llamar al Cen-tro de servicio tcnico. Antes de ponerse

en contacto con el Centro de servicio tcni-co local, compruebe los puntos de la listasiguiente.Durante el funcionamiento de la lavadora,es posible que el piloto rojo de la tecla 6parpadee, que aparezca en pantalla uno de

los cdigos de error siguientes y que almismo tiempo se emitan seales acs-ticas cada 20 segundos para indicar quela lavadora no est funcionando: : problema con el suministro de

agua.
