2013 is an exciting year for Laura Ashley. It’s the year we are celebrating 60 years of design heritage - Six decades since Laura and Bernard Ashley first produced hand printed scarves on their kitchen table in Pimlico; the story since has been well documented and now we look towards the upcoming season and the balance between our history, our new collections, and our designs of the future.

The culmination of inspiration for our anniversary year is presented through our ‘Heritage’ collection (p24); an interpretation of original archive designs reinvigorated

through new colourways and original design concepts. Our contemporary interiors collections invite you to take a cultural adventure with ‘Markings’ (p2), while the traditional floral tone of the season is defined through the archive inspired, hand drawn design accent, Peony Amethyst (p10). Nature’s influence continues a strong theme through to our ‘Leaf’ (p8) story, a contemporary study of fresh colour and graphic designs. This season we also welcome the return of a shade absent from interiors in recent years, through our ‘Cool Coral’ story (p 18).

Our pride in the collections grows every season and is continually revitalised through our drive to support British design and manufacturing, whether working with artisan suppliers for our unique upholstery collections or printing and producing all of our own wallpaper, paint and made-to-measure curtains and blinds in our modern factory in Powys, Wales. Each season we strive to excite and inspire our customers and your readers through colour, print, pattern and design – we hope you enjoy the new season.
