Why This Guide?

You would rather run your shop than get a business degree.

You're an artist, not an accountant or an internet marketing guru.

Your specialty is your craft, that's where your time is best spent.

You value simplicity

Launch Your Own Shop BlogWhy We’re Choosing Wordpress

I have used both Wordpress and Blogger. I prefer Wordpress because of the freedom it offers.

Modifications are limitless and very simple. The support community is extensive and it uses best practices SEO (Search Engine Optimization so customers can find your site).

The head of Google’s Web Spam Team uses Wordpress, to me that’s quite an endorsement.

Launch Your Own Shop BlogBuying A Domain Name

Owning your own domain is essential.

Prefer a “.com” as it is still the standard.  1. Own your traffic. 2. Have @YOURDOMAIN.com/.net/.us

email addresses. (boosts professionalism and trust).

3. Simple way to get to your site. Avoid all the YOURDOMAIN.somefreeoption.com non-sense.

4. It's so cheap you would be crazy not to.

Launching Your Blog Step By Step

1 – Decide on your domain name. Typically “www.yourshopname.com”

You’ll buy it through HostGator as part of the signup process.

2 – Click here to go to HostGator Go to “Web Hosting” or “View Web Hosting Plans”. You most likely want the “Hatchling Plan”. It

supports a single domain name with “unlimited” everything else for about $3.96 per month (most recently).

P.S. Using the link above ensures a coupon code is used giving you the best deal available.

3 – Watch this 3 minute video walking you through Host Gator’s Quick Install

4 – At this point you have WordPress installed with the default “theme”.

A theme changes the way your blog looks. There are many easy to install free themes within

WordPress. You may just want to have fun with what you have going though.

6 – Now you have joined the ranks of Etsy sellers who have taken the initiative to expand their market presence. It’s time to link back to your Etsy Shop. This is easy

too… from inside your blog, go to “Plugins”, “Add New”, and search “Etsy” you’ll find about five choices from Treasuries to a mini display grid of your items. Try them out, see what fits best and you’re set.

7 – Now perhaps the most important part of all… write content and connect with your customers, inspire them to return, and of course shop for themselves, family, and friends.
