In the first scene in the village, where Idi Amin does his speech one of the spectators can be seen wearing a boy scout uniform with a Canadian flag on the chest.

The black Mercedes presidential limousine used in the film had actually been Amin's.

Memorable quotes

Nicholas Garrigan: Why are you doing this?

Djonjo: Frankly, I don't know. You deserve to die. But dead, you can do nothing. Alive, you might just be able to redeem yourself.

Nicholas Garrigan: I don't understand.

Djonjo: I am tired of hatred, Doctor Garrigan. This country is drowning in it. We deserve better... Go home. Tell the world the truth about Amin. They will believe you; you are a white man.

Review

I was very impressed by the movie “The last king of Scotland”.The movie tells us the history of Uganda’s cruel dictator Idi Amin seen through the eyes of a young naive Scottish doctor who becomes a close

advisor and personal physician of the despot more accidentally then willingly.

The Movie is very tense and real, fiction and history is well blended and the story and atmosphere are very authentic. The most impressive figure

and actor is Forest Whitaker. He earned himself an Oscar as best actor embodying the dictator, his gestures and language make the person of

Idi Amin completely real, he couldn’t have done it better. As a Venezuelan I was shocked by the way we as spectators witness the

way the Idi Amin gets madder with the time and how he gets drunk by power.

He keeps talking about the people but he just cares about himself. It might remind us of other militia men who got power and got corrupted.
