President/CEO

Its rare to find someone whos spent their entire career at one organization. That situation requires

commitment and excellence from both the professional and the organization. Larry Tobin and

FAIRWINDS Credit Union have both of these qualities. Tobin has been working at FAIRWINDS for

more than 30 years and has been a member there since he was nine years old.

Tobin started as a part-time teller while studying finance at the University of Central Florida. An

assignment that required him to interview someone in the field led to an offer from the manager of a

branch. As Larry completed graduate programs at Rollins and Harvard and received Certified ChiefExecutive designation after studies at Wharton, Cornell and Darden, he became even more valuable toFAIRWINDS. He was promoted to manager of the Information Systems Department and advanced to

become executive vice president. Then, eight years ago, he became CEO and president where he provides

direction, personality and drive for the largest Central Florida based financial institution. He does this by

guiding senior management and visiting a support team and a branch each week in an effort to reach out

to FAIRWINDS 500 employees.

Tobins commitment to service is what has fueled his drive to contribute to FAIRWINDS success. Larrystill loves the opportunity to sit down in financial counseling with members feeling hopeless and help

them to understand that they can work through financial crises. His favorite thing about FAIRWINDS is

that the emphasis is not on the bottom line, but on the community and its financial wellbeing. Larrys

emphasis on service is clear in his support of FAIRWINDS many community partnerships withorganizations like the American Diabetes Association and the Childrens Miracle Network. It also showsin his engagements in the community. Larry serves as secretary of the UCF Foundation Board and

chairman of Rollins Crummer Graduate School of Business. In addition, hes a member of the board of

directors on the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission.

Everywhere he goes, Tobin spreads his passion for caring for others. He helped found University

Presbyterian Church and has served as treasurer, an elder, and a member of the choir, even recording 2

CDs with them. Hes a loyal father who drives his children to school each day and enjoys taking them

boating on the weekends. He served as past president of the Rotary Club of Oviedo and his generosity

toward the organization has earned him the distinction of Paul Harris Fellow. Likewise, his service as a

COMPACT mentor earned him the Mentor of the Month award. Tobins passion is people and so is

FAIRWINDS. Its that passion combined with commitment and excellence that has made them a perfectfit for the last 30 years. Larry advises new employees to be the best at whatever theyre doing at themoment. With that advice, who knows how high FAIRWINDS can reach next.
