About Lansdowne, Uttarakhand Lansdowne is a cantonment town in Pauri Garhwal district in the Indian state Uttarakhand. Lansdowne is one of the quietest hill stations of India and is popular since Britishers came to India.

Lansdowne is unlike other hill stations as it is well connected with motorable roads but remote in its own way. It is situated at an altitude of 1,700mts above sea level surrounded with thick oak and blue pine forests in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand state.

Lansdowne got its name from Lord Lansdowne, who was the then Viceroy of India during the period of 1888 - 1894. The Garhwal Rifles Regimental War Memorial: This War memorial at Lansdowne was unveiled on 11 Nov 1923 by Lord Rawlinson of Trent.

St. Marry’s Church: This artistic church was built by Colonel AHB Hume in 1896.

St. John’s Church: It is a Roman Catholic Church situated on the mall road.

Bhulla Tal: This artificial lake is dedicated to the young Garhwali youth of Garhwal rifles who contribute their services for our protection. Boating and paddling facilities are also available at Bhulla Tal.

Tip-In-Top: Situated in the ridge near St. Mary’s Church, Tip-in-Top is a popular point amongst the tourists visiting Lansdowne.

Durga Devi Temple: Dedicated to Goddess Durga, Durga Devi Temple is highly revered by the locals. Durga Devi temple is situated 25kms before Lansdowne.

Pauri Garhwal: Pauri is situated 78kms from Lansdowne on the northwest slopes of Kandoliya Hills in Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state.

Khirsu: Khirsu is situated 91kms from Lansdowne at an altitude of 1,700mts above sea level.

How to Reach Lansdowne

By Road: Buses to Kotdwar and Dugadda are easily available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate. axis to Lansdowne are available from Kotdwar, Dugadda, Pauri and other major destinations of Uttarakhand state and connected with NH119.

The best way to get to Lansdowne by road is as follows: Stage 1: From Delhi to Meerut 70 kms, Mawana 30 kms, Bessuna-Ramraj-Meerapur Stage 2: Take the Right turn from here for Bijnor-kiratpur 16 kms, Najibabad 17 kms, Kotdwara 25 kms, Dogadda 15 Kms. Stage 3: 2 kms from Doggada there is a T Junction. Take the RIGHT Turn on the Lansdowne road (the left turn goes to Pauri).
