Cette réunion de rentrée est OBLIGATOIRE. Elle détaille les démarches à faire et donne des informations importantes sur le cursus.

INSCRIPTIONS dans les groupes spécifiques et les groupes mutualisés avec l'anglais LLCE

1. Inscription dans les groupes d'anglais spécifiques aux Langues et Interculturalité: Ces groupes ne requièrent pas d'inscription particulière, vous devez vous présenter au premier cours la semaine du 7 septembre. L'enseignant établira alors la liste officielle qui vous permettra d'assister au cours et de passer les examens. 2. Inscription dans les groupes de Travaux dirigés partagés avec la licence d'anglais LLCE : Étant donné que certains de vos cours sont dispensés par le département d’Anglais (bat 4, étage 2), vous devez retirer un ticket de rendez-vous pour les inscriptions dans les Travaux Dirigés de la licence d’anglais à partir du 24 août et jusqu’au 30 août (bureau 4214, bat 4, 2eme étage, ouverture 9h-16h). Muni(e)s de ce ticket, vous aurez rendez-vous, selon votre année d’étude : 1ère année : jeudi 3 septembre 2eme année : mercredi 2 septembre 3eme année : mardi 1 septembre Les inscriptions auront lieu au secrétariat d’anglais (bat 4 étage 2, bureau 4214) Attention!! les inscriptions se feront uniquement sur présentation du ticket. Ces inscriptions dans le T.D. sont obligatoires : vous ne pourrez pas suivre les cours ni passer les examens si vous n'apparaissez pas sur la liste officielle. INFORMATIONS SUR LA FRAUDE ET LE PLAGIAT Qu’est-ce que la fraude ?

-‐ Lorsque vous sollicitez une personne tierce pour réaliser un travail universitaire faisant l’objet d’une évaluation par un professeur ;

-‐ Lorsque vous avez recours de manière illicite à des données, ou que vous échangez des informations au cours d’un examen qui se déroule dans l’enceinte de l’université (triche) ;

-‐ Lorsque vous cherchez à obtenir les questions ou les réponses d’un examen avant sa tenue ; -‐ Lorsque vous présentez un même travail à différents professeurs dans différents cours ;

Qu’est-ce que le plagiat ?

-‐ Lorsque vous utilisez les formulations, l’opinion, l’analyse ou la théorie d’un auteur sans le mentionner explicitement ;

-‐ Dans le cadre universitaire, il convient de créditer les auteurs utilisés ; une simple liste d'articles et d’ouvrages n'est pas suffisante.

Comment la fraude et le plagiat sont-ils sanctionnés ?

-‐ Un cas de fraude manifeste est passible d’une convocation devant la commission disciplinaire de l’université, accompagnée de lourdes sanctions ;

-‐ L’auteur d’un cas de plagiat caractérisé se verra refuser l’autorisation de présenter ou soutenir un travail. Une commission de discipline sera convoquée, ce qui entraînera l’annulation du module et la non-délivrance du diplôme préparé ;

Comment l’éviter :

-‐ Distinguez les propos d’autrui de votre propos par l’utilisation de guillemets. Chaque citation utilisée doit être référencée en note de bas de page ;

-‐ Constituez une bibliographie de tous les ouvrages, articles et sites web consultés au cours de l’élaboration du travail remis au professeur ;

-‐ Respectez les règles universitaires de citation. Celles-ci sont disponibles dans la rubrique « Comment citer » de la page web du département d’anglais de l’université de Strasbourg : www.departement-anglais.unistra.fr ;

We will look at the English sound system focusing on the 25 articulation of vowels and consonants, and students will learn to use phonetic transcription with IPA symbols. The phonetics part of the course builds on students’ knowledge of the English sound system acquired in the first semester. Students will get further practice in using the International Phonetic Alphabet to transcribe words, sentences and discourse in English. Practical transcription problems will be linked to theoretical issues: phonological rules, word level stress, reduction and rhythm in connected speech. Le Mot et l’idée 2 will be studied in both French-to-English and English-to-French translation classes.

Students are very strongly encouraged to use a unilingual English learner’s dictionary habitually and systematically (Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, for example) ; a unilingual dictionary greatly facilitates the acquisition of vocabulary and should be the cornerstone of every student’s English studies. Students are also encouraged to read as much and as widely as possible in both English and French. We will study stress in words (different stress patterns, suffixes, prefixes, compound stress) and sentences (rhythm, prominence, weak forms) and then intonation (tonicity, tonality, tones, the forms and functions of intonation). We will continue using phonemic transcriptions throughout the course. NB. The lecture course is in French. We will start with the production of speech and the articulation of English vowels and consonants revising the basic notions from the first year introductory course. Some of the topics highlighted will include: Slavery and slave narratives; the Civil War and Reconstruction; segregation in the South; the Harlem Renaissance, Black Power and the civil rights movement, Hip hop and the search for black authenticity. It will invite you to question the ideology of separate male and female spheres (which emerged in the wake of the Industrial Revolution but had been extant in Western thought for centuries) by examining key topics such as women's rights and limitations, work and education, literary achievements, or first-wave feminism. KEANE, s.4305 (Patio) LV2CEME4 - Culture américaine et cinéma : American Embodiments of Desire, from Written Page to Screen Groupe 4 : Mercredi 8h – 10h, Mme DELAGE-TORIEL, s. 18 (Portique) This course will focus on two mid-twentieth century literary masterpieces and their screen adaptations: A Streetcar Named Desire, a play by Tennessee Williams, adapted by Elia Kazan, and Lolita, a novel by Vladimir Nabokov, adapted by Stanley Kubrick and more recently by Adrian Lyne. Drawing from Peter Brooks's notion that the desire to know the body is a powerful dynamic of storytelling in all its forms, we will investigate the ways in which the body, both as subject and object of desire, may 'move' narratives and their readers/spectators across different media, be it through the written word, on stage or on a screen. Related themes, such as intimacy and transgression, will clue us to the interactions between these works and the cultural contexts in which they were produced. LV2CFME4 -Civilisation américaine et cinéma : Vampires vs. Zombies: American Monsters Groupe 4 : vendredi 10h – 12h, Mme Grassy, Amphi 4 (Patio) “Dreams and beasts are two keys by which we are to find out the secrets of our nature.” --Ralph Waldo Emerson The recent revivals in all things vampire and zombie have elicited a number of explanations, from the economic to the psychological. This American Studies course examines the history of these two monstrous figures, their diverse representations in popular culture, and the numerous parodies and rewritings they have elicited. We will see how vampires and zombies have become social phenomena, and what explanations for the vampire and zombie crazes have been given in recent years. In preparation for this class, you are encouraged to explore the canon of vampiric and zombie studies and watch and read as many works you can get your hands on as possible. A bibliography will be available online on the moodle page for the class.
