- Enable students to understand and usethe language they have studied in arange of contexts and for a variety ofpurposes.

- Encourage, through the study of textsand social interaction, an awareness andappreciation of the differentperspectives from other cultures.

- Develop students’ awareness of the roleof the language in relation to otheráreas of knowledge.

- Develop students’ awareness of therelationship between the languages andcultures with which they are familiar.

PAPER 1 (1 HOUR 30 MINUTES):RECEPTIVE SKILLSTEXT HANDLING EXERCISESON FIVE WRITTEN TEXTS, BASED ON THE CORE.

PAPER 2 (1 HOUR 30 MINUTES):WRITTEN PRODUCTION SKILLSSECTION A: ONE TASK 250 – 400 WORDS, BASED ON THE OPTIONS, TO BE SELECTEDFROM A CHOICE OF FIVE.SECTION B: RESPONSE OF 150 – 250 WORDS TO A STILUS TEXT, BASED ON THECORE.

WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTRECEPTIVE AND WRITTEN PRODUCTIVESKILLSCREATIVE WRITING OF 500 – 600 WORDS PLUS A 150 – 250 WORD RATIONALE, BASED ON ONE OR BOTHOF THE LITERARY TEXTS READ.

INDIVIDUAL ORAL (8 – 10 MINUTES)BASED ON THE OPTIONS: 15 MINUTES’ PREPARATION TIME AND A 10 MINUTE (MAXIMUM) PRESENTATION AND DISCUSSIONWITH THE TEACHER.
