Dr. Daniel BallPresident, Lander University

At Lander University we believe that thecollege experience should be an adven-ture. We offer you opportunities to grow. Per-haps you’ll do research on the waterquality of one of our area lakes. Maybeyou’ll earn a coveted internship at Dis-ney World or take a trip to England tostudy global markets. You might volun-teer with Habitat for Humanity or helpyour club collect canned goods for thelocal food bank. And just maybe, you’llhelp entertain your fellow students dur-ing Lander skit night or score the win-ning goal in a soccer game.

I look forward to welcoming you into theLander family and sharing with you allthat Lander has to offer.

IMAGINE YOURSELF AT LANDER – strolling down brickwalkways worn smooth by time, passing by historic ivy-cov-ered buildings, resting in the shadows of mighty oaks and sur-rounded by the friendly, warm voices of fellow students.

You’re at the very heart of Lander University and at the soulof what makes Lander perfect for you.

While students are attracted to Lander for many reasons – itsrich heritage, academic rigor, personal touch, athletic accom-plishments – the underlying purpose of the university is toprepare you for a meaningful life and career.

“I enjoy teaching at Lander because itprovides a unique environment for learn-ing. Its smaller class size allows teachersand students to interact very closely inand outside the classroom, and as aresult, students receive more personalattention from the faculty than they wouldat a larger institution. Lander’s focus onpersonal attention results in a better edu-cational experience. The university alsooffers programs in nursing, criminal justicemanagement and health care manage-ment online, which give students the flexi-bility to learn at their own pace. I aminvolved in a research project with col-leagues at the University of Florida, whereI received my doctoral degree. We areseeking to improve online learning byshaping delivery of academic programsbased on a student’s background and per-formance and creating more interactionbetween students and faculty. That inter-action is strongly emphasized at Lander.”

FINANCING YOUR FUTURE

Lander University provides students a comprehensive array offunds from federal, state and institutional sources. Funds aredistributed based on criteria defined by the donors. Types ofaid include grants, scholarships, work and loans. Loans mustbe applied for each year and repaid according to the terms ofeach loan. Some grants and scholarships are renewed automat-ically if you meet the criteria, which usually means completinga certain number of credit hours with a certain GPA eachyear. Federal and state funds require students to maintain Sat-isfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Students lose eligibilityonce they reach the maximum timeframe of 187 attemptedhours for an undergraduate degree. Transfer students musthave all transcripts evaluated before financial aid eligibilitycan be calculated or risk having to repay any funds obtainedprior to the official determination of eligibility.
