Explore, Wonder, Imagine, Learn, and OUR VISION:

The Lander Children’s Museum will be central Wyoming’s premier des na on For empowering ac ve minds and bodies in children and the grown‐ups who care.

For over 14 years, the Lander Children’s Museum has provided west central Wyoming with interac ve hands‐on exhibits and innova ve programs that invite children and adults to ex‐plore, learn, and play together. As we strive to spark imagina on and encourage curiosity, the Lander Children’s Museum also works to build a stronger community and act as a model for early childhood educa on. The 2012‐13 fiscal was a highly successful and amazing year filled with new programs and increased growth of exis ng programs, partnerships, and exhibits. This would not have been possible without the support of our volunteers, donors, and community. Thank you for being an integral part of the Museum’s past and present success!!!!!!!

Lander Children’s Museum - 2013 in Review Ω Monte Carlo Event—participants from around the county enjoyed the festivities presented. Ω We hosted Fall Fest where children enjoyed a variety of activities to bring in the Fall Season. Ω We hosted in November our Annual Monte Carlo Affair and raised over $10,000 through the efforts of

people who care about the museum and the community who supports us. Ω In March we hosted Richard Hatch for a superb magic show and class. We had over 120 people in at-

tendance for the magic show and over 15 children enjoyed learning magic first hand from Mr. Hatch. Ω In April and May we hosted 11 school field trips, 361 children, from 5 communities in Fremont Coun-

ty. Ω In April we hosted an “Earth Day Event” and were able to share many fun activities and environmental

lesson to 67 children from 3 communities. Ω In May we hosted a “Cinco De Mayo Event” that provided a learning time for 42 children around our

Mexico exhibit. Ω In June and July we hosted 9 Summer Classes. This allowed learning experience to be available to 82

children. One class was Gardening in which we partnered with Sprout Greenhouse and had the children actually build our garden from the placing of the soil to reaping the bounty.

Ω On July 4th we were able to once again participate in the Challenge for Charities by spearheading the Jump Rope Olympics. 30+ children enjoyed racing, jumping and learning to double-dutch during this event.

Ω July brought the Circus to Town at the museum. Children enjoyed juggling, face painting, magic, bouncy houses, popcorn and the big top atmosphere. We were able to entertain 130 people during the big event.

Ω In July we attended Riverfest at the local park and we able to help 80 children paint fireworks on a bag. It was great fun and a free event for children and families. We then attended the Fremont County Fair in Riverton and were able to provide an activities using flowers and hammers to create watercolor pic-tures. 85+ children enjoyed the noisy activity immensely.

Ω In August we were invited to attend Lander Fun Days. Again children participated in the Watercolor Flower Project. 25 children and 10 adults tried their hand and made some lovely prints.

Ω In August we partnered with the Science Zone out of Casper to host the NANO exhibit. It will be on display for 6 months and we hope to encourage many school classrooms to visit and interact with the exhibit.

Ω In August we ended our summer activities with our “Waterworks Day”. Children came and enjoyed enviro-scapes, games, invertebrates, water play, watermelon, snow-cones, watercolor painting, bubbles, and anything water. We had 65 very wet and tired children.

Ω We have been building many partnerships over the last 6 months. The Wyoming Forest Service has provided items for food storage and learning material on grizzly bear to update and add relevant infor-mation to our camping exhibit. The Popo Agie Conservation District provided many activities for our Water Works Day so that the children were able to learn how water effects our world. The Bureau of Land Management has met with the museum director and will be setting up an archeo-

logical dig at the museum in November. Children will be invited to come for a one day class to build the dig and then the exhibit will allow children to continue explo-ration and make petroglyphs of their own. Overall attendance is averaging 27 visitors a day this summer totaling 800+ people.
