Message from the President - by Pat Logue

If I looked back at every letter that appeared from previous Club Presidents in the March Newsletter, most of them would start with something like;“waiting for the weather to break” or “Spring is almost here.”

We all joined a Country Club to enjoy golf but sometimes Buffalo winters get in the way of our plans. That doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the social life atLancaster while we wait for the snow to melt.

February started out with Italian Night, Valentines Dinner, Brunch, Steak Night, Winterfest and Pub Night - great events giving members the opportunity toget together again and enjoy the newly renovated Clubhouse.

With March comes more Brunches, including Brunch with the Bunny as well as St. Patrick’s Martini Night and Cigar Night. So, while we all closely watchthe thermometer and hopefully the melting snow, let’s take advantage of the social side of our Club and enjoy time together with our fellow members!

Manager’s Notes by Mark Maier

It’s been a great opening! We have seen a lot of members in the month of February and everyone has been so positive aboutthe clubhouse remodeling and the staff changes. As always, thank you for your support and understanding! We have had agreat month of diverse and fun events, from Italian Night, Pub Night, Steak Night, Valentine’s dinner, Sunday Brunches andWinterfest. Thank you to all who participated and enjoyed.

We have concluded the club house and kitchen renovation as well as the golf course and came in under budget and along witha few strategic changes in the kitchen design, were able to stretch the extra capital to accomplish the clubhouse renovation. Please allow me one last opportunity to thank all the staff and members that worked on the project which made the outcomepossible: Richard Petschke, Mark Rewers, Liz Reilly Meegan, Brian, Dave, and Ted Kulbacki, Perry Costa, and Dave Wienck-owski (Karen Lund’s father,) Mark Dinsbier, Tom Doyle, Judy Jacobi, and Matt Weber.

Now we turn our focus to getting the golf course open and to our spring new member recruitment. Below please see the namesof our LoyalTee Lottery and Member Rewards prize winners from 2014. These two great programs which acknowledge ourmembers for participating in our club events and membership recruitment will be continued in 2015. Thank you to all who partici-pated in these programs this year!

Congratulations to our LoyalTee Lottery Grand Prize winner (6 Months of Free Membership Dues) Tim Hedges!Congratulations to our Member Rewards Grand Prize winner (2015 Season Cart Pass) Mickey Ryan!

Update from the Grounds Department

Winter just keeps coming. The snow and the extreme cold temperatures have limited our tree work out on thecourse. Once the snow starts to melt down we will evaluate to see whether we can get out and do more or ifwe will concentrate on course clean up.

We will also be monitoring the health of the greens as the snow melts off of them. This winter is slightly differentthan last years as we have had a continuous snow cover and not the freeze thaws as we experienced last year. The other major difference is we have only had snow cover for approximately 60 days where as some greens lastyear were covered for over 90 to 100 days. The only real concern I have right now is that we may have somesnow mold break through on some playing surfaces.

Continue to think spring. Hopefully we will see a start of it this upcoming week.

This is the most FUN our women have at Lancaster Country Club!

Details: To help those ladies that may not have played golf before or have played golf but feel they are

not ready to participate in a 9-hole league. The overall goal of the 2 & Out League is to prepare the la-

dies to graduate and move up to the 9-hole league the following year. We will accomplish this in a group

setting of comparable skill level designed to be fun while learning. The clinics before golf will touch rules,

etiquette, terminology, handicap/scoring and basics of the golf swing. The 2 holes on the golf course will

be a non-competitive learning environment. Over the first few weeks, depending on skill level of ladies

involved, the pro will assist the ladies through the golf holes. Teachable opportunities will arise during

this time: where and how to tee off to start the hole, strategies to playing the hole, club selection, bunker

and basic on course etiquette rules they would run into during play. Play on the course should finish

about the same time the 9-hole league finishes and everyone would be able to participate in the club-

house activities afterwards.

Time: 5:30 pm Clinic with one of the Golf Professionals6:00 pm Out to the course for two holes of golf

Date: Starts Weds. May 13th and runs 15 weekswith a last date of August 19th

Cost: $60.00 (Includes weekly clinics and final dinner on August 26th)WOMEN’SLEAGUE

F&B NEWS by Scott Schuldes

As I write this letter, it has been just about a month since I began here at LCC and it has been three amazingweeks since we opened. I have met many wonderful people and have seen many members from the past, whata great feeling it is !!!

I would like to personally thank the membership for the warm welcome. I can honestly tell you that we havethe best management team and such an awesome staff, every club around should be so lucky. The most im-portant item to me when I was speaking with Mark during my interview process was how we both personallyfelt member and guest satisfaction was of the utmost importance. I expressed very clearly that you need to dowhatever it takes to satisfy our members and guests needs. My goal for our staff is “ to meet and exceed mem-ber and guests expectation on a consistent daily basis.” I feel very strongly about this and to have so manystaff members feel the same way, it makes me just ecstatic !!! I am blown away by our staff’s desire to satisfyour member’s needs, I think it is absolutely wonderful. !!!

I can’t and won’t wait to achieve these goals. I work very hard and the biggest pay back is seeing our mem-bers, guests and their families enjoy themselves, this is why I do what I do. I know there are many more mem-bers to meet, and I will meet each and every one of you. I will do my best to remember your name, forgive meif I ask you your name it is only so I can remember it.

Please feel free to call, stop by the office or grab me on the floor, I will always have time for you. Please let meknow what we can do to help satisfy your needs. I can just about say that there is nothing we can’t do !!!I will see you around the clubhouse and remember HAVE A GREAT DAY !!!Thank You,Scott J. Schuldes

With the new season upon us, the kitchen staff is once again prepping up for what hopes to be avery successful season. There will be three menus implemented throughout the 2015 season. Theearly spring menu, which features seasonal seafood, is prepared in a more “hearty” style for thosecold evenings. The summer menu, which will debut in May, will feature very light refreshing ingre-dients to compliment those warm days. The fall menu will debut in mid-September to early Octo-ber, and will offer a combination of foods based on the season’s fall harvest.

Weekly grillroom specials will also begin this month. Our thought is to do some “home style” mealswith a little flair as well as some specials that are cutting edge in the culinary field like blowfishtails and molecular gastronomy. Our staff is also working on some great in-house desserts, andhopes, with member feedback, to offer your favorite desserts on a rotating basis.

Our team is also working on some live satellite food stations in the near future. One for sure will beserved at the pool in the late afternoons a couple of times per month. We will be offering a raw barwith clams and oysters, shucked to order by yours truly. This is just a small taste of what the backof the house staff is working on.

Once again I would like to thank the LCC membership for their support. We have made a bigchange in the past two months. It may take another month to be fully acclimated but after that Iassure you that we will offer the best in service and food. See everyone soon!!!
