The pavilion manipulate the materials to flow with the circulation of the people. The transition between two different spaces are guided through the transition of the material from one function to another. The circulation then merges together to descends down on to the central public space. The central gathering space is left completely open to the freedom of the users.

Nature EmbraceSingle Family House

This single family house was designed to reconnect the liv-ing souls back with nature. This space challenges the very idea of what is nature to a house and how does a house define nature. The environment in which the house existed in is essential for the nesting of the house. The spatial conditions are being em-braced by its surrounding and in another sense nature is em-bracing the people. A house defines one’s relationship to nature.

The journey to the house is a series of meandering paths that encourage the farmers to strip off their daily work stress and enter into their sanctuary. The house is tucked away behind and below the trees and bushes of the hill to give the farmer’s family privacy.

Water Space MakingUrban Intervention

This urban intervention rethinks the urban infrastructures to integrate with the city’s lifestyle, transforming the solidity of the Brooklyn/Queens Expressway into an open interactive community gathering space. Here the programs act as a link between the two communities. This is a gathering place not only for people but also for water run-off. Passive House

This housing proposal pushes the Passive House limits to emphasize the role of the sun as a source of energy. The flow of the envelope responds to the light angles to maximize the winter sun while minimizing the summer sun. As the physical structure follows the sun’s rays, so does the people. Guided by the light, the exterior circulation piers diagonally through the site. Resi-dential community gathering space is being tucked in the central crevice and embraced by the arms of the architectural infrastructure.

As light is an important part of this housing complex, it was a goal to design the living space where one moves with the sun. Bedrooms are on the east to rise with the morning glow. Social public spaces are exposed to constant light sharing experiences with the exterior. The double height spaces are specifically designed for a single family, blurring the boundary between indoor and outdoor. Furniture extending out from the interior kitchen onto the barbecue terrace allows the experiences to be one with each other.

House E 1027Eileen Gray

Eileen Gray initially used the golden ratio as a template for de-signing her first villa. Although the perfect proportion was mes-merizing at the time, she understands the importance of building a house rather than building an idea. The shifting of the pilotis shows the necessary need for change to accommodate more sun access. Gray designed the villa’s programs according to the sun’s movement in relationship to the users’ living habits.

This Imperial Palace is a paradise filled with exciting exploration and impermanent beauty. The hidden narrative within Katsu-ra transcends the experience. By unfolding the landscape in the drawing, it allowed me to trace one’s movement through space. The level of detail and thought that constructed these design de-cisions appear effortless.

Brazil Permaculture at Ecocentro IPECLiving Routes

Traveled to Brazil, we were a selected group of twenty people all coming from different parts of the U.S. studying in various fields. Although we all had dif-ferent backgrounds, what brought us all together were our current interest in building a sustainable space and, more important, building a sustainable commu-nity. Green building is a broad term covering energy conservation, selection of low-impact materials, appropriate technologies, and life-cycle analysis. Besides the physical built environment, which is essentially a byproduct of a hard work-ing community. Together, we worked on a Community Action Project which sets out to help a family rebuilt their landscape garden. We designed a mini ecosystem that em-braced the house and brought it to life. Gained hands on experience in sustain-able building techniques while collaborated with horticulturists and garden plan-ners to design a suitable environment for a sustainable family lifestyle.

The Water CycleWanted Design

As one of the participants that represents Parsons The New School of Design, I was a part of the Wanted Design Student Challenge. This is an unique op-portunity having 4 design schools from all over the world collaborating on one common theme Water Cycle. This year the focus was on collaboration and com-munication amongst the different schools. Over the course of three days, each team was to design concepts, scenarios, animations, videos and models, which will then be presented to the public as well as a jury of design professionals.

Participated schools: Art Center College of Design (Pasadena, CA, ENSCI les ateliers (Paris, France), Parsons The New School for Design (New York, NY), CENTRO Mexico (Mexico City, Mexico) and ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres (Paris, France).
