WHAT IS TED?

The TED conference is a yearly gathering of

people passionate about the power of ideas.

Thinkers and storytellers explain their

passion to a captivated audience and all

talks are recorded and made available for

free online. TED Talks range in topic from the

philosophy of happiness, to solutions to the

global energy crisis, to education reform, to

musical, poetic and dance performances.

WHAT IS TEDX?

TED started a program called TEDx. A TEDx

event is a licensed program that brings

people together to share a TED-like

experience. With the advent of TEDx events,

audiences around the world have been

gathering for deep discussion about ideas. It

is in this same spirit that we decided we

could not just sit back and watch but instead

be a part of the movement hence we went

ahead and obtained a liscence to host TEDx

event: this one being TEDxYouth@Kilimani.

The event held on the 7th of June 2014 at the

Braeburn Auditorium

• Speakers- giving talks or performances ranging From 6-18 minutes

• Partners- who provide financial support to enable the event to take place

• An audience consisting of 300 young, handpicked attendees consisting of an equal mix of students and professionals

• Network- people watching online (Over 20 million active viewers on TED) and partaking in a larger discussion on our website and social media pages

Future Shorts Kenya is the local branch of a global short film

festival. As an international collective, Future Shorts (FS)

is passionate about creating a platform where short

filmmakers can have their work exhibited. Every quarter, a

collection of the finest global short films are screened around

the world. With a presence in at least 35 international cities

this makes us both the largest and most regular international

short film festival.

Chemistry Kenya

WHY IS OUR WORK IMPORTANT?

Chemistry is a vital learning and breaking

ground for emerging talent. This talent can

only be appreciated and nurtured where there

are sufficient forums that give visibility to new

artists and connect them with both industry

players and public audiences. Electronic

music, film and photography have been the

preserve of music festivals, film festivals and

private galleries, only knowledgeable to

industry insiders. Chemistry is challenging this

trend; we are providing the general public with

these experiences so they themselves can be

inspired to create; forming a cyclical system,

the consumers become the producers.

WHO ARE WE?

Chemistry is an initiative that seeks to

bridge the creative arts, whilst uncovering

emerging talent in Kenya. Chemistry

pairs DJs/Producers with visual artists,

such as filmmakers and photographers to

construct narratives for exhibition

purposes. This event will be hosted every

4 months.
