LEARNING WITH MS STURMAN

This week K/1/2 have reflected and analysed their STEM project from term 3 and their science experiments in term 3.

K/1/2 will have a strong focus on their geography unit of learning with a new STEM project linked to this topic. The question will be “How can we protect a natural resource in the local area?”

This will culminate in a project which shows the answer to this question to be ready for presentation in week 7.

Ms Sturmans maths group will be focusing on two important aspects of stage 3 maths- order of operations and data gathering and recording.

This term Ms Sturman’s maths group will be working with Mrs D on a STEM project. The focus of the project will be to organise and conduct a vegetable and plant market stall. The date and location will be announced next week. The students will provide regular updates in the newsletter about their progress. As they will be sourcing products at different times. Please keep an eye out for their updates and app messages. Thankyou for your support Mrs D

MARKET STALL

The maths group are asking for donations for next Monday 21st October they are looking for paddle pop sticks, glass jars, and garden labels we are happy to exchange these for spinach, leek and pasley out of the Garden.

LEARNING WITH MRS WEBB

Well the term has started off with a bang! We’ve hit the ground running with CHORDS practices, yearbook, STEM and our new Geography unit utilising our new virtual reality STEM equipment. Students will be looking at Australia and it’s position compared to the rest of the world. They will also be looking at the geographical characteristics of Australia using ouR VR equipment and create a mini atlas using various maps and mapping techniques.

We’ve FINALLY finished our fractions and decimals unit which I’m sure some students are glad to see the tail end of :) I want to congratulate them on their dedication and perseverance throughout the unit. Well done guys!!

Stem will be finalised this term as well. A note will be going home by the end of week 2 stating the STEM presentation day date and agenda of projects. The student projects are all very different ranging from advertisements, ninja warrior courses and information books. The students are looking forward to presenting their finished projects to family and friends. Looking forward to a busy, fun-filled term!

LEARNING WITH MRS DE FRANCESCHI

Term 3 ended wonderfully with our excursion to ErinEarth and the Botanic Gardens. Our day was made possible through the Eco Schools grant, provided by the NSW Environmental Trust (which covered the cost of our bus hire), and the free sustainable education resources at ErinEarth.

Ben, the ErinEarth education officer, welcomed us and shared the processes for making compost and soil testing. He also helped us understand and appreciate the benefits of maintaining a natural environment and the planting and wildlife associated with the garden.

We then travelled to the Botanic Gardens where we had lunch and toured the different garden zones on display, including a walk around the animal park. We finished with a scavenger hunt organised by Matilda before returning to school. It was a great day!
