LadsMasters XXVIII 2014

Welcome to the programme for this year’s LadsMasters. From the start of the event in 1986 at the Bells Hotel Coleford, the event has morphed into the premier golf event on the north west golf society calendar.

This year we are venturing to Owston Hall with the nearby delights on Doncaster. The 18 hole Championship Golf Course offers players the challenge & quality expected by PGA professionals, maintained to the highest standards by experienced groundskeepers.

Development began in 1996, and since then the course has been a host venue from 2002-2004 to the EuroPro Tour which was televised worldwide. Covering 6937 yards, the par 72 course features mature oak trees and water features to challenge golfers of all standards, including Billy Smart.

The golf course is set in over 200 acres of mature parkland, with large oaks and water hazards making the course both enjoyable to play whilst at the same time challenging. The feature hole is the 10th a par 4, 284-yard hole which requires a carry over two carefully placed ponds before playing up to the green which is overlooked from the conservatory of the 18th century Owston Hall.

To quote last year’s successful Captain from the team event……….Fairways & Greens gentlemen……..

Doncaster…..a very rough guide

Doncaster is a town in South Yorkshire, England. Together with its surrounding suburbs and settlements, the town forms part of the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, which had a population of 302,400 at the 2011 census. The town itself has a population of 127,851. Doncaster is about 20 miles (32 km) from Sheffield, and is served by an international airport, Robin Hood Airport, based in Finningley.

Doncaster has a vast selection of clubs and late bars all across the borough. The heart of the nightlife is in Doncaster’s Town Centre, a large strip of clubs and late bars are located on Silver Street as well as more scattered across the rest of the town. There is everything from modern clubs that play the latest chart dance songs to venues that play the best of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Doncaster’s nightlife has something to suit everyone’s taste and consequently makes it one of the best night’s outs.

Che Bar (one for Curty), Flares, Co Co, Priory – all around Silver Street

Bentleys, Players & The Purple Door in the centre of town offer those into Strictly the chance to see some live dancing to relax away the evening.
