a partnership of possibilities

and finally...........This is an open invitation to every group, community organisation, club, sports team and local business on Lache to come together in our own partnership to do something about improving our village and to set ourselves some new horizons.

With cut backs to benefits, investment and government spending we are going to be hit hard in the near future. If we do not stand up with a united front and fight our corner we are unlikely to attract our share of a dwindling pie.

The partnership will be built up from active groups in Lache so if you are involved in anything related to Lache in an active way then this is your natural home.

As this is self organising in action an initiating group will kick things off and if you want to be part of this exciting initiative then call us up on 677 721 or drop in to Hawthorn House on Hawthorn Road in Lache.

Whatever happens next is up to you.

Welcome to the first edition of y o u r n e w c o m m u n i t y newsletter.

Just so you know this is all put together and delivered by people from Lache who want to change our fortunes for the better.

There is an old proverb that say ‘if enough people get together they can even mend a crack in the sky’.

Lache currently resides at the bottom of the list for poverty and deprivation. It is our intention to do something about this through community action. If you want to make a difference then let’s get together and be responsible for the changes that need to be made.

L PAALACHE ADVENTURE PLAY ASSOCIATION

As many residents know we have not

had any permanent premises for a

while but this doesn’t mean we have

been resting on our laurels or forgotten

about the young people of Lache.

We have been very busy bringing new

ideas from a pipe dream to a reality.

These include the brand new play area

behind Lache Primary School and

employing Adam Post as manager for

the Chilaxing Juniors 8-13 youth club.

The new play area, in partnership with Lache Primary School, has a

giant tyre swing, a zip wire, trampoline mushrooms, rope bridges and 2

play houses. We are hoping to also have a climbing system in there as well

to add to the fun.

LAPA also payed for the Lache Rhino which was brilliantly painted by

the children in the Saturday and Chilaxing. The Rhino is being auctioned

off and all proceeds will be coming back into Lache. This money will help us

to continue supporting projects such as sports, the Christmas panto for local

School children and trips to the climbing wall.

For further information contact Jane Mercer at Hawthorn House (during

working hours).

It has been another successful year down at the allotment. We have completed 43 raised-bed growing areas, taken delivery of a large greenhouse and gained three more project members. Our next big step is to construct an eco-friendly log cabin so that all of us " wannabee gardeners" will have somewhere to meet, socialise, swap gardening tips and take shelter from the rain.

Although we are officially open every Tuesday and Thursday morning, for local residents who join the project, there is a "key - scheme" which allows access seven days a week - from dawn to dusk! The project is run by three local volunteers - Ester, Steve and Bob - who are always ready to offer help and advice about what to grow, when to grow it, and how to grow it. (If we don't know, we'll find out!). So whether you are an expert or a complete beginner, why not drag yourself away from the TV, fill your lungs with fresh air, grow tasty fresh vegetables and make new friends. You can find out more by contacting Hawthorn House on 675818 or, alternatively, turning up at the allotment on a Tuesday or Thursday 10.00 - 12.00. Autumn Tip : Autumn is the best time to mulch (cover) planting areas with a 50mm (2 inches) layer of compost or manure. If you do it now the worms will work it into the soil over the winter months. (Helpful little creatures, aren't they). This will improve the overall quality and moisture-retentive capability of your soil. Bob McCombe Supported by

The Lache Community Safety Wardens (Sharon and Peter) for Cheshire West and Chester would like to take this opportunity to let you know some of the activities which we have been involved in. These include the Community Safety Roadshow which took part in June at the Community Centre. We were also involved in the successful planning and execution of the Lache Fun Day which took part in June. We have continued working in the Chilaxing Juniors on a Tuesday evening and in the Saturday Club every Saturday morning.

We have also been successful in getting a dog bin placed on Green Lane/Boundary Lane which has had problems with dog fouling for quite a while. We have also been successful in extending a barrier on the Redrow Footbridge to protect the local communities which live in close proximity to this bridge.

Just one of our local success stories during a routine patrol in Lache, the we noticed a youth's bike abandoned in an alleyway behind some houses. On closer inspection the bike was discovered to belong to a local youth, this bike had previously been reported to ourselves and the Police as stolen approximately one year ago. Efforts had been made to locate the bike, however these efforts were not successful.

However a year on this bike was returned due to the fantastic work of a local volunteer, who co-ordinates a local project that engraves bikes for local residents with post codes and with the owners details if they wish to do so, making it easy to identify and return stolen bikes to there rightful owner.

‘HANGING by A THREAD’

Hanging baskets are a beautiful way of saying we care about Lache. Our baskets hanging from the other lampposts on Cliveden road next to the shops are their as part of our commitment to improve the local environment. We have contacted local businesses for sponsorship / placing a charity box within their shop and will be contacting the local authority about liability insurance as this is the main cost involved. If we are unable to raise sufficient funds we will sadly have to remove them.

Improving the local environment was one of three priorities the LRA set itself, the others being improved public transport and public safety (a particular concern due to the reduction in the Community Warden Service).

To continue with these activities we need your support. The residents association can only be effective in pushing for a better Lache if it has a thriving membership. It is free to join and is open to everyone within the Lache Ward. To be on the contact list for meetings and events pass on your details to.

nsp reiinnovation . enterprise . motivation . ideasInspiration is truly the mother of invention. A number of local people have taken a large room we have called ‘The inspire room’, to develop a culture.

We invite anyone from Lache who has an idea about improving things locally to come down and share it with us and we will help them get their project off the ground. ‘Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it’. (Goethe)

There is access to the internet, wi-fi, hot desking and sharing ideas with positive people. In addition to working in a great atmosphere we have the Lache Enterprise Coach, Stefan Nicholls, based in the room to offer support, networking and coaching.

So what do we do?by Dennis Smale

Chair of Lache Park Ltd

Hello from Lache Park Limited. It’s time to inform you of what Lache Park Limited does in the area. We have been in Lache for the past 8 years and were formed out of two organisations, Lache Project and Lache 2000.

We are a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee and currently awaiting Development Trust status.

We have a board of trustees/directors and operate through Theme Groups including: Community Health and Wellbeing; Cleaner Greener Safer; Children and Young People and Community Learning. Added to this are a couple of sub-groups, PRIMETIME (60+) and Events and Festivals.

LPL employs 6 dedicated members of staff who work tirelessly for the people of Lache.

We are currently setting up an Events Group to co-ordinate Funday/Panto/Haloween Party/ Xmas Party/Social Evenings etc.
