APPARATUS AND MATERIAL Apparatus : Thermostatic bath, pycnometer, measuring cylinder, retort stand, analytical balance, ball bearing, beaker. Material : Cooking oil, water PROCEDURE Part A : Determination of Viscosity of Liquid 1) Ball bearing was weighed and diameter of the ball bearing was measured by vernier scale. 2) The cooking oil was filled inside the measuring cylinder until it reached at 50ml point. 3) The bath switch was opened to circulate water inside the thermostatic bath. The temperature was set at 40. After the temperature had reached, the measuring cylinder was submerged inside the thermostatic bath for 10 minutes to stabilize the temperature inside the measuring cylinder. 4) The ball bearing was inserted into the top of the measuring cylinder. 5) The stopwatch was started when the ball bearing pass 40ml point and was stopped when the ball reached the bottom of the measuring cylinder. The time for the ball bearing falling inside the measuring cylinder was recorded. 6) The experiment was repeated from step 3 to step 5 at temperature 50and 55. 7) The experiment was repeated once again from step 2 to step 6 by using water at same temperature of cooking oil.

APPARATUS AND MATERIAL

Apparatus : Thermostatic bath, pycnometer, measuring cylinder, retort stand, analytical

balance, ball bearing, beaker.

Material : Cooking oil, water

PROCEDURE

Part A : Determination of Viscosity of Liquid

1) Ball bearing was weighed and diameter of the ball bearing was measured by vernier

scale.

2) The cooking oil was filled inside the measuring cylinder until it reached at 50ml

point.

3) The bath switch was opened to circulate water inside the thermostatic bath. The

temperature was set at 40℃. After the temperature had reached, the measuring

cylinder was submerged inside the thermostatic bath for 10 minutes to stabilize the

temperature inside the measuring cylinder.

4) The ball bearing was inserted into the top of the measuring cylinder.

5) The stopwatch was started when the ball bearing pass 40ml point and was stopped

when the ball reached the bottom of the measuring cylinder. The time for the ball

bearing falling inside the measuring cylinder was recorded.

6) The experiment was repeated from step 3 to step 5 at temperature 50℃ and 55℃.

7) The experiment was repeated once again from step 2 to step 6 by using water at same

temperature of cooking oil.

Part B : Determination of Density of Liquid

1) Empty pycnometer was weighed.

2) Pycnometer was filled with cooking oil and was weighed again.

3) The bath switch was opened to circulate water inside the thermostatic bath. The

temperature was set at 40℃. After the temperature had reached, the pycnometer was

submerged inside the thermostatic bath for 10 minutes to stabilize the temperature

inside the pycnometer.

4) After 10 minutes, the pycnometer was removed from thermostatic bath and was

weighed again.

5) The experiment was repeated from step 3 to step 4 at temperature 50℃ and 55℃.

6) The experiment was repeated once again from step 2 to step 5 by using water at same

temperature of cooking oil.
