La leggenda di Roma

C’era una volta, tanti ma tanti anni fa nel regno di Albalonga, una principessa di

nome Rea Silvia, figlia di re Numitore. Rea Silvia ebbe due gemelli, ma lo zio cattivo,

Amulio la imprigionò insieme al padre per rubarsi il trono.

Amulio disse che i bambini dovevano essere uccisi, ma il servitore li abbandonò in

una cesta sul fiume Tevere. Una lupa li vide e decise di allattarli.

The legend of Rome

Once upon a time, many but many years ago in the Kingdom of Alba Longa, a

princess named Rhea Silvia, the daughter of King Amulius. Rhea Silvia had twins, but

bad uncle, Amulius the imprisoned together with his father to steal the throne.

Amulius said that children had to be killed, but the servant left them in a basket on

the Tiber River. A she-Wolf saw them and decided to feed.

Un giorno passò di lì un pastore di nome Faustolo e vedendo i due bambini decise di

adottarli e li portò a casa sua dalla moglie Laurenzia. Chiamarono i due bambini

Romolo e Remo.

A day spent there a shepherd named Faustulus and seeing the two children decided

to adopt them and brought them to his house by his wife Laurentian. They called the

two children Romulus and Remus.

Quando furono grandi, Faustolo disse loro di non essere il vero padre e raccontò la

verità. Allora Romolo e Remo uccisero il cattivo Amulio e liberarono la madre e il

nonno.

grandfather.

sarebbe diventato il re. E l’indovino rispose che dovevano guardare attentamente il

cielo e chi avrebbe visto più uccelli sarebbe diventato il re.

Romolo allora tirò fuori la spada e uccise Remo. Romolo diventò il primo Re di Roma

e la sua città diventò la più bella e grande di tutto il mondo.

Ma nella città c’erano poche femmine e allora i romani decisero di organizzare una

festa e invitarono un popolo vicino, i Sabini. Durante la festa rapirono tutte le

giovani e così vissero felici e contenti.
