These data were reviewed primarily according to the "LaboratoryData Validation Functional Guidelines for Evaluating Organic
•Analyses," February 1988 revision with changes given in the Region VII Organic Data Review Training Manual and EPA memorandums.

GENERAL
This data review assignment covers 14 SOIL samples analyzed for TCLP VOLATILES and TCLP Total Metals for SAS number 6403G. There was one field duplicate sample included with this assignment. There was 1 method blank for TCLP Volatiles, and two laboratory duplicates for TCLP Total Metals. The level of review for this package was 2.
1* Holding Times and Preservation
The samples were extracted within the specified holding time for both Volatiles and Total Metals.
2. QC/M8 Tuning
All relative ion abundances were within the established control limits.
3. Initial and Continuing Calibration
Volatiles: All criteria were within established controllimits.
Total Metals: All % recoveries were within established controllimits.
4. ICP Interference Check
Recoveries of solution AB analytes were within control limits.
5. Laboratory Control Standard
LCS results were within established control limits.
6. Internal Standard Response
Volatiles: All internal standard criteria were within controllimits.
7. ICP Serial Dilution
All results were within established control limits.
8. Blanks
Volatiles: No compounds of interest were detected in themethod blank.
Total Metals: No compounds of interest were detected in any ofthe blanks.
9. Surrogate Recovery
Volatiles: Standard recovery for 1,2-Dichloroethane-d4 wereouside (high) acceptable criteria in sample CS1CS006. The sample was not reanalyzed because the holding time had expired. No qualification was required, though, according to Regional policy.
10. Matrix Spike/Matrix Spike Duplicate Recovery
Volatiles: Matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate recoveries wereoutside (high) established control limits for two of the twenty compounds. No qualification of the samples was required, however, according to Regional policy.
Total Metals: All matrix spike recoveries were within controllimits. The narrative states, though, that spike recoveries for Barium were low and the RPD for Barium was very high. However, these alleged anomalies could not be confirmed.
11. Performance Evaluation Sample
No performance samples were included in this package.
12. Duplicates
Good agreement existed between the samples and their respective field and laboratory duplicates. In the Metals package, the first duplicate was analyzed for analytes by ICP only; the second for Mercury by cold vapor. The RPDs for all analytes were within control limits. However, it was found that the reported RPDs were not reproducible from results reported on the summary sheet. The reason for this conflict is unknown and, considering the level of review, was not investigated.
13. Compound Identification and Quantitation
Due to the requested review level, results listed on the summary forms were used for the review. With one exception, these results were not checked against the raw data for accuracy, and calculations were not verified. The exception being the calculations for laboratory duplicate RPDs were checked. All positive results found below the CRQL were raised to the CRQL according to Regional policy and coded U.
14. Summary
The laboratory was instructed to analyze the soil samples for TCLP Volatiles and TCLP Total Metals according to the SAS. QC outliers did not result in any data qualification since sample results were below the CRQL. All laboratory blanks were free of contamination. Several QC outliers were noted in both packages, but no qualification of sample data was necessary or required according to Regional policy.
