INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM• Develop core instructional best practices and strategies that are implemented

district-wide. Provide staff development opportunities in alignment with those practices and strategies.

– Establish JSD Instructional Norms Team to guide process– Assemble and implement physical education curriculum units for K-3 classrooms. – Professional development opportunities for specialized departments: Physical Education, Special

Education, and Music. Allow for balance of collaboration and content-based professional development.

– Strengthen Data Team processes at site to support English Learners by focusing on best instructional practices.

– Professional development opportunities for paraprofessionals.– Translate forms into more languages– Create bank of volunteer translators/interpreters– Parent educational opportunities focused on working with students

SCHOOL ATMOSPHERE• Follow pilot of Second Step character education program at Hawkins and Love

and Logic program at Traina evaluate as to district-wide implementation.• Support Food Services department in providing healthier food choices that are in

alignment with wellness plan and attractive to students• Refinement and expansion of district web page to provide a more current and

comprehensive web resource for families and staff

– Establish parenting support classes with topics that are of high interest to our families – Support Food Services department in providing healthier food choices that are in alignment with

wellness plan and attractive to students– Coordinate district-wide drill to practice and refine emergency procedures– Ongoing AERIES training offerings for staff

FACILITIES• Refine and communicate ongoing maintenance activities.• Continue to refine custodial supervision, support and procedures to provide best

possible facilities for learning. • Create ongoing budget plan based on a Technology Plan that focuses on long-

term sustainability. • Continue to refine list of long-term facility needs and explore potential funding

timelines.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT• Continue to protect district programs and employees by proactive budget

planning and oversight. • Continue to provide opportunities for staff and families to access and provide input on ongoing

budget updates. • Continue to explore uses for categorical funds that will take pressure off general fund while

providing support for school programs. • Continue to research opportunities that prevent level of deficit spending that would result in

significant program cuts during unprecedented fiscal crisis.
