The Shoreline Trail begins south of the Blue Oaks Group Camp Area Pavilion. Follow the paved pathway down the hill to the trailhead. Most of the trail is gently sloped with only a few moderately strenuous sections. The trail is currently 5.9 miles long and ends at Buzzard Point. Mileage markers have been placed along the trail for your convenience. On a clear day, several high Yosemite National Park peaks can be seen from the trail: Mt. McClure (12,900 ft.), Mt. Florence (12,561 ft.), Mt. Lyell (13,113 ft.), Rodgers Peak (12,978 ft.), Mt. Ritter (13,157 ft.) and Mt. Clark (11,522 ft.). The Blue Oaks Group Area is subject to reservation; please do not park in this parking lot when this area is occupied. Unpaved trailhead parking is available in the Launch Ramp parking area and adjacent to the Trailhead. From Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, while the entire Blue Oaks Campground is open you may also park in the overflow parking Area just north of the D Area Campground, otherwise please stay out of this area when it is closed. Along the way, the Shoreline trail traverses spectacular wildflower displays in the spring, passes by large Quartz outcroppings, offers unique vistas of Don Pedro Lake, Don Pedro Dam and the Sierra Nevada Range to the east, and is always a great place to view wildlife, waterfowl, Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Red-Tailed Hawks and Great Blue Herons .
