This is a character building organiza on and as such, there is no place for this at DeMolay. *Prescrip on drugs are permi ed, but must be reported to the staff at Conclave, and indicated on your individual Registra on Form for emergency informa on. If you are a tobacco user, please be polite and do this away from others. Remember, younger DeMolay are impressionable and we do not encourage smoking at DeMolay events.
Discre on is to be used at all ac vi es within your room. Throw nothing into the halls or out the windows. No property is to be damaged or removed. In the event this occurs, your Chapter will be billed. Be mindful that there are other guests and please watch the noise level.

Gree ngs, brothers and friends, and welcome to Kentucky DeMolay’s Annual Conclave, once again returning to the 4‐H Leadership Center in beau ful Jabez, Kentucky. Reflec ng upon the name of this loca on, it is only fi ng that it is a “Leadership Center”, because this is the place that leaders are made. Whether it is being an on‐court coach during a basketball game, or volunteering to do a ritual part, there is just something in the air that makes you want to take charge and reach your full leadership poten al. This formula has been working for years, and I am proud to be a part of this tradi on as it con nues once more.
This year, we have taken a tremendous leap forward in many aspects. Several mes throughout the year, DeMolay interna onal ranked us top ten in the world for membership growth; we re‐ins tuted an old chapter (Heart of the Highlands); and we were the only state within Region 4 to achieve posi ve growth. All of these achievements are thanks to all the outstanding members that Kentucky DeMolay is famous for making. On many occasions, I have been dumbfounded by how awesome our state is, and how far we have come. It is in moments like this that all I can think is: “Man, it's a good day to be SMC!” This kind of astonishment, and seeing how much progress that we have made is the only form of payment that I get for being State Master Councilor; let me assure you that it is more than enough. I am very proud of the state in which Kentucky DeMolay is in, and I can only see it ge ng be er in the coming years.
With every Annual Conclave come two primary emo ons: joy and sadness. Joy from seeing all your brothers and friends, nailing your ritual part in compe on, or having all eyes on you as you strut to the front of the room to be presented with your championship medal. These are the moments that make conclave as great as it is; it is these moments that you will never forget. Unfortunately, there are sad parts too, like leaving all the people that you have grown so close to over the past few days, or, in my specific case, ending an era in a DeMolay career. While this is sad, this conclave will undoubtedly be the best one ever, if everyone makes it that way. So, let's make it a goal that we ensure that EVERYONE has a great me, and make this “old man” think “Man, it's a good day to be SMC!” one last me.
Fraternally,
Mason Garre Bryant State Master Councilor
July 7, 2016
Gree ngs brethren, moms, dads, and friends all
I would like to welcome you to Jabez, Kentucky, home of one of Kentucky DeMolay’s greatest events, annual conclave. This is the place for friendship, compe on, no cell phone recep on, and ul mately a place for brotherly bonds to be made. For some this will be their first annual conclave and for others their last. I hope everybody is excited this year, as we have began to see a lot of growth across the state, ins tuted a new chapter, and plan to see more of the same in the coming year.
As I have traveled across the country in the past year I have go en to see many exci ng things, and ex-perience great moments like Caleb Cissel stuffing me on a shot at the basket, or seeing young men step-ping up to fill in a part for degree work, and seeing DeMolays at work in other states. I have also began to experience the bi ersweet s ng of realizing that brothers that I have grown up with in DeMolay have and are about to majority out, and I realize that this will be my last annual conclave with some of these guys. While I am thankful and blessed to have them here with me as I begin my term as State Master Councilor, I can not help but feel the bi er pang of knowing they will soon reach majority. So with this I would say, “Let’s make this the best and most memorable annual conclave yet.” It has been humbling to be your Deputy State Master Councilor, as well as work alongside great brothers and friends (Mason Bryant and the State line) through the 2015-16 term. We have some big shoes to fill in this upcoming year, but I know we can do it together. With that may the baskets be swi and plen ful, the sportsman-ship on point, and be ready to let the brotherhood consume you.
Safe travels to all, and remember to thank all the advisors for their hard work and devo on that they put into DeMolay!
Fraternally,
Draven R. Sims, Deputy State Master Councilor
Gree ngs Brothers and friends of Kentucky DeMolay!
I represent the Kentucky DeMolay Knighthood this year, and I speak for all of us when I thank you for
your support. Whether you are here with us in person, or you have an ad in our yearbook, or you
endorse one of our young men and we are thankful for your contribu on to this wonderful event.
I’ve had the privilege of a ending all nine summer conclaves possible during my me in DeMolay. I
couldn’t describe to you the impact these events can have on a young man’s development to say
nothing of the tremendous fun each event brings, for both the young men and the advisors.
Given the opportunity to go back in me and do them all over, I would have tried to be involved in
everything I could from the very beginning, because as I’ve grown older I am seeing the difference
par cipa on makes on enjoyment and development.
I hope that in the last stretch of my term as Illustrious Knight Commander I can help my knights to
further inspire the younger members of their chapters to get more involved in this great order. As
every great state master councilor of the last decade has preached: you get out of DeMolay, what you
put into DeMolay. These words ring truer with me every me I think about them, and it’s an idea that I
hope will find a home in someone’s heart this weekend.
Fraternally,
Josh Starnes,
Illustrious Knight Commander

Welcome back to the beautiful Leadership Center in Jabez, Kentucky for the 2016 Annual Conclave - the place where DeMolays build strong bonds of brotherhood and learn what DeMolay is all about. There’s no other place like it!
We’ve recently returned from the 96th Annual DeMolay International Session held in San Diego, California.
Your delegates, Mason Bryant and Draven Sims were present to vote on important legislation and help elect the Interna-tional officers for 2016-2017. This is a great gathering and a chance for us to reconnect with people we’ve met at past sessions and build friendships from those around the globe.
We would like to welcome Heart of the Highlands Chapter to their first summer Conclave since being reinstitut-ed. We hope you have a great time.
Please show appreciation to your advisors, DeMolay parent’s club and the staff at the 4-H Leadership Center here in Jabez by being respectful and helping others. As guests are checking in, help them unload their car and assist with getting their luggage to their room, open the door when a lady is about to enter the building, offer to take up a De-Molay Mom’s tray after a meal, thank your advisor for spending time with you this week and driving you all the way here so that you could enjoy this great weekend.
Remember you have a Hospitality Room sponsored by the State Parents Club where you can have a snack and fellowship. Some great plans have been made at that table over the years. It gives you a sense of “home” with family members all sitting around the table together. As other state jurisdictions have said, Kentucky DeMolay is like one big family of DeMolays and advisors. The DeMolay Clothes Closet is available in the Hospitality Room should you need some DeMolay apparel at no cost to you. One of the DeMolay moms will help you pick something out and even hem pants or sew on buttons if you need them too.
Don’t you think your friends would love to experience DeMolay too? When is the last time you told a friend about DeMolay? How about asking your friends to be a part of our DeMolay family? It only takes a second to ask. Invite them out to a meeting or a fun activity with other DeMolays. If each DeMolay would initiate one candidate by July of next year – just think of the growth we would experience. Of course, we know you can do better than one mem-ber each – so why not start talking in your chapters about membership activities that you can plan and go ahead and in-vite your friends out to have a great time and tell them about DeMolay.
Thanks for being a part of Kentucky DeMolay and let’s work together to keep growing our Order. Sincerely, Dad Danny K. Coffey Mom Glenda Coffey
